  1. Hi All!

We haven't been on a cruise since 2014 on Royal. This is our first time on Celebrity Equinox and our first time just the 2 of us - DH and me. We usually occupy a whole table with the kids - with 6 or 7 of us. What does everyone do about the dining room experience? Do you book a table for 2 or do you let the chips fall where they may and end up with strangers? Which could either be a very good thing, or a very bad thing, depending. Just wondering! Thanks!

  2. I am so excited to go on Celebrity Equinox! But not until Feb 2019 unfortunately. We've only cruised Royal (7 times) and once on NCL. How does the Main dining Room seating work? Can you request a table for 2? Normally, we travel with the kids and there's usually 6 or 7 of us. Never travelled with just 2 of us. Or is it better to let things just happen as they may? The way I see it, you miss the opportunity to get to know others. But if others are the miserable type, you/re better off alone? Thanks!

  3. Just thought I would put my two cents in here, as we just returned from the Allure of the Seas. Off the ship, we took the advice of a local at the Information Desk and went to the Wyndham on Cable Beach. I have also done research on these boards regarding the best day pass in Nassau.

We caught a cab by ourselves (no ship excursion), 6 of us. I think it was 5 bucks apiece for the 15 minute ride to Cable beach, where we went to the Wyndham, based on a recommendation by the information desk in port. Cable Beach is gorgeous, but DO NOT go to the Wyndham! I do not know what anyone sees in this place. It was only $20 per person, but the hotel lobby is the most horrible place I think I have ever seen! In gross need of painting and updating, it smells like a combination of mildew and smoke (casino right there), and has sort of macabre, creepy Junkanoo masks that are filthy throughout the lobby. It kind of reminded me of a bad Twilight Zone episode - very nightmarish! I mean, if you put a blindfold on, and walk through to the beach, you're OK. But once outside, the beach is beautiful and you can use the lounge chairs and such, but there is absolutely NO sign of hotel staff. The pool bar is closed. The pool is open and refreshingly chilly! But NO place to get either a drink, or a snack. Chipped and cracked concrete around the grounds. I have no idea what the rooms were like but if I booked there for a week, I would run away screaming:eek: You are better off at the Melia next door. Lots of activity, food, active bar, music. You know, the things you expect at a tropical resort. Anyway, we were only there about 2 hours, so it didn't matter much. I think the Melia is much pricier, too, which considering the very brief time we had there, was not worth it. I would definitely go to Cable Beach again, but choose a much nicer hotel. We saw Breezes on the way back, too late.

  4. I totally agree! If you don't mind me asking, what did you end up doing?

Not at all! We caught a cab by ourselves (no ship excursion), 6 of us. 5. We just got off the Allure on Sunday and we got off the ship in Nassau. Unfortunately, the time there is WAY too short. Had to be back on board by 1:30!! Barely enough time to get a cab to take you to the beach, for, what? Like 2 hours? Not even enough time to grab lunch. I would have loved to stay til about 4 or so. I don't know what the hurry is, because there's a seaday afterwards - plenty of time to get to St. Thomas, I think. They should reconsider that port, eliminate it, or give folks enough time there to enjoy and explore.

  6. I haqve deliberately left a 5 or 10$ bill on the dresser or nightstand and DH ALWAYS empties his pockets of change and leaves them there.......anyway, we have never had anything taken. Ever. Disney, RC, and former NCL cruisers

Very clever! Interesting to hear all these opinions. I still go with: I love jewelry, so I wear it wherever I go and enjoy! But you have to be a smart traveler and don't flaunt it in ports, obviously! And stay with a crowd, don't wander off in bad parts by yourselves.

  7. I'm curious if the women go ashore with their wedding rings on. I can't remember ever taking mine off on my previous cruises so I assume I left them on, but I'm just curious what others do.

I am curious about this also. I always wear my wedding / anniversary rings on shore. They are not loose and I do not worry about them falling off, especially in the humidity. Why have them at all if you keep them in a safe and don't enjoy wearing them?

  8. They are the exact same The Allure smelled worse and rocked more making me sick. I later found out that the captain on the allure at the time didn't like to have the stabilizers on. The ships had different restaurants and shows. Even though the ships are practically same, I had a better time on the Oasis.

"Smelled worse"? What on earth does THAT mean?

  9. Hi All!

Sailing the Allure next week. Just curious as to what you all do with your valuables while on shore excursions. You know, jewelry you don't want to wear for more adventurous excursions, passports, credit cards, or whatever. Someone recently told me their room safe was broken into and jewelry and cash were all stolen. Anyone have any experience with this?

    Thanks!

  10. We always do late seating and don't miss a thing. Shows are scheduled on different days at different times. We are doing the Allure next week, and scheduled some shows before dinner, some after. LOVE the late seating. After all, you're on vacation and everything is pushed back. Late breakfast, late lunches, at least on sea days. Then on port days, as someone mentioned, if you get back on the ship at 5 or so, you don't have to rush to dinner at 6.. Can relax, take a shower, have a cocktail....................:)

  11. Hi All

Does anyone know if there is a curfew for 16 and unders on Allure? I looked at the RCL website and could not find it. My son is 16, his friend is not quite 16. I worry about them after hours - of course I'll be checking their stateroom, which is right next to ours and of course, there will be rules.

Also, how comfortable is everyone out there travelling with the minor child of another family? Of course, we know about the notarized letter and all. But have you all done this? This was a last minute change because, unfortunately my other older son has been assigned a work job and since his job is new, he is forced to go. Upset that he can't join us on the cruise but we did come up with this substitution. Thanks!

  12. My son is joining us on a cruise which leaves at 5 pm Sunday. He absolutely cannot come in the day before. Would it be safe, do you all think, to book a flight (direct nonstop) from Nashville to Fort Lauderdale that leaves at 9 am and arrives at 12:25pm? That gives him a window of about 4 hours. Thanks for your opinions!

  13. Hey All

I know it's going to be a crowded week but what is your opinion of the best Resort Beach in Nassau - we are only there from 9 am to 2 pm on the Allure.

Thinking of Melia/Sheraton or Breezes or someplace similar. Not Atlantis - I think that will be way too crowded and from what I understand, Blue Lagoon is way too far for our short stay. We would just like a nice beach with amenities of food, drink and lounge chairs. And of course use of restrooms. Any opinions?

    Thanks!!
