  1. While this sucks, and I do think you deserver more than 100.00 each OBC (either more OBC or some specialty dinners), I think the term deceit may be an overstatement.  Remember, sometimes the effects of malice are indistinguishable from those of incompetence.

Maybe push the retreat concierges for more OBC or specialty?  They have some ability to do stuff.

There are 2 penthouse suites on the ship. A guarantee for 2 rooms is "selling it." (Some ships have over 100 Sky Suites. Those are "guarantees." ) Also, these reservation types are not available to average passengers and not available to travel agents.

Also, we asked specifically - "Did this other reservation come in after we were assigned the room?" The STAR manager says they don't know and they can't find out. Our BS meter went high again.

I'm not disputing what you're saying at all.  I was just trying to clarify that they do sell guarantees into specific suite categories, not just W "suite guarantees".  Although as you say, there are only 2 Penthouses, so why would, if they were both sold, offer a guarantee?  As I said, that's beyond me.  Just because it makes no sense whatsoever doesn't mean they wouldn't do it.

  3. I'm so sorry this happened to you, but it is indeed possible to book a guarantee room for a specific suite category.  In 2022, we booked a Sky Suite guarantee.  I know that's the lowest suite but it wasn't a W it was a sky suite.  So i think it possible to book a guarantee in. specific suite category - although why they'd do it for the very limited penthouse is beyond me.

The only thing that can usually be done is to identify a "better" cabin at least $1 more than you paid and upgrade to it paying the difference.   Of course the upgrade will be at the prevailing rate/promo for that category.  Sometimes if there has been a dramatic price drop you can get a much better cabin for a small $$.

    Other than that there's nothing.

And if you booked out far enough, I imagine you'll lose the tips, and if in suite to a better suite the OBC, so be sure to factor that in.

People to start posting "where are my points" April 12  😂

And people to start posting about how they didn't get the link, even though they got the last (I'll get mine tomorrow - happens every time).  Should start soon.

  6. I went to the website, and saw the one point in the history, but still not in the total.  I did see some odd things in my upcoming cruises - my cruise in two weeks, is showing 12 points a night, which is what, we'd get if we hadn't received the Royal suite as a move up from a sky suite.  We also have a Sky Suite in 2026, that's showing 12 points a night.

I'm guessing we won't actually get that.

Nope! Didn't work.  Neither did an Incognito window.  IT is off celebrating Pi day.

I'd try again at the end of the day or tomorrow if the whopping 1 point hasn't posted.  They usually show up for me much later in the day.

Thanks, do you know if 1:30 is the last seating time or it everyone out time?😉

Last seating.  And sometimes it's 11:30 - 1:00 and sometimes 12:00-1:30.  I've also seen different hours, based on things like short port stops, etc.

But usually it's 1.5 hours for lunch, but on embarkation day they sometimes go later.

I agree. Do you happen to know if we can have our non suite companion join us on embarkation day as well as long as we pay the fee and there is availability?

Assuming availability, probably.  That's up to the restaurant manager. We've done it once.

Can never get my mind around this thought process.  Celebrity is following the terms you agreed to.  In no way is this a ripoff.  Just think about how good you would feel if the price went up.  I doubt you'd be calling and requesting to pay more.

When I was dealing with the South America trip, the price did go down more.  When talking to them about something else, I asked about more OBC for that difference.  The agent's comment was "well, if the price went up, we won't call you and ask for more money".  And good thing, since that cruise was more the exception, since the price for our room is slightly higher with no tips or OBC.

I understand that, based upon availability, you can have a non suite travel companion join you for dinner for a fee at Luminae.  Do you know if it the same for lunch or breakfast? Thank you

Yes.  Lunch is 20.00 per person, and I've heard breakfast is 10.00

  12. I'm on this cruise as well, but not in a balcony (mini suite).  For me, if I rebooked today, it would cost several hundred more, and I'd lose tips and a bunch of OBC.  YMMV.

I think one time, I got some extra OBC after final, and that was a very specific situation.  We were in a Sky Suite on a South American/Antarctic itinerary, and the prices kept dropping (my guess was airfare had become ridiculous from North America).  The price of a Celebrity Suite went to about 300.00 more than I paid for the Sky.  So I paid 300.00 and moved us.  The next day, it dropped to what we'd paid for the Sky Suite.  I called and they gave us 300.00 refundable OBC.  It was, I believe, because of the timing.  It was also in 2019, so pre-pandemic.  After the pandemic, pricing did become a little more rigid.

And in 2022, I was in Maui at the "other side".  We were back on the ship by noon, since there's not much there.  I was looking forward to Maui, but we just rented a car for the first day in Hilo to go see Volcanos National Park since we'll now have time.

Also, if your passport is anywhere close to expiring, you may want to renew.  It is convenient for both spouses to have similar expiration dates - only one set of dates to remember.

We did that, until, midway through the validity (in 2010), mine got stolen.  Now we're exactly offset - his expires in 2025, mine in 2030.

why hurry? You don't even know if she has another cruise or international travel planned any time soon.

No, but you never know if a great offer comes up, and you can't go.  Or processing times will go back up.  I guess my personal thinking is that when the passport gets to 6 months, it's a good idea to renew.

    Update

So when the Sky and Aqua went Expired and the RS was pending (greyed out) we put a small lid on CS (£1395).. No PH or RS were showing available but there were 7 CS available

Everything was pending and could not be modified until 11.03.24. At 1500 all bids were modifiable again but as soon as I went back in and upped the RS it locked into pending and all others modifiable.

12.03.24 all bids go to past and the CS is showing as Upgraded, RS pending and all others expired. Within minutes the new bag tags were ready, it was showing on the X app, new invoice and CC charged. 2 hours later shore side retreat concierge rang.

Very happy and looking forward to our CS suite!

Wonder if we'll get a call.  We sail March 27.

Thank you all for the wealth of information. We really appreciate it.

We will also bring the original BC and DL so we are covered on all ends.

And yes, he will be renewing as soon as we arrive home.

    Thank you all, again!

    Have a great trip!

  17. I'd also recommend her renewing it ASAP after the cruise.

DH's expires in January.  In 2 weeks we head to Singapore for B2B2B, and get home May 6.  On May 7, he's renewing.  I was away with my sister February and one of his assignments was to prepare the application.

My Retreat Host/Butler had 15 suites on Beyond in December and was always on the move; we were already in our suite after dinner without our room being cleaned the first evening,  but everything worked out for the next 9 days.  He was always so busy…hopefully, things will improve for everyone, as we move forward without even more increases in pricing.

That's sounds like what our Retreat host/room steward had on Apex.  She was busy for sure, but very friendly.  I told her she should consider applying to be a butler.  I don't think she was interested though.

George says hello. He's working really hard.

May have already been mentioned, dedicated butlers will be back on the Beyond in 2 sailings.

Thanks.  He does work very hard.  While on the Beyond I ran into a butler of ours from the Summit (last dedicated one we had) who was an assistant waiter at the time.  He said he's getting his butler job back mid march.
