  2. I'm still trying to wrap my head around "alarm clock." :) I guess you find them in the same aisle as typewriter ribbons.

LOL! I know. But I have heard that the clocks on our cell phones don't work on the ship (for some reason the time doesn't adjust to the correct time).

Funny story about finding old things in the store. My husband is currently on a vinyl kick and he went to Walmart to look for a record player. He asked a girl who works there if they had any and explained what it was. She said, "oh, you mean like a juke box?"

  3. Thanks everyone. I was under the impression that cruises were "cashless." My husband was the one who mentioned bringing extra gambling cash - he will enjoy the satisfaction of finding out he was right (LOL).

We always set a daily gambling limit whenever we go to Vegas, so that will not be a problem for us. Of course we'll have our son with us on the cruise so we won't be doing as much gambling as our Vegas trips.

  4. Oops, I guess I should have mentioned that we're sailing out of Miami with stops in St. Thomas, Tortola, and Nassau. Our excursion is in Tortola, so we will only need cash for St. Thomas and Nassau (and of course a little extra gratuity on board).

Thanks again for sharing your experience.

  5. We'll be on the Escape in 10 days!

We're trying to figure out how much cash we will need to bring with us. We only have one excursion booked, so I'm sure we'll need cash for the other 2 ports if we want to do something (taxis, beach access, shopping, food, etc.).

For those of you who cruise regularly, what do you do? Bring a set amount? Use your credit card? I'm assuming that while in port cash is easier than credit cards, but I could be wrong.

I'm not asking how much I should bring, I'm just asking which method works best for each person.

    Thank you.

  6. Sometimes we ladies have other hair styling tools that require a plug. Am I to assume that the shaving outlet in the bathroom won't work for those as well?

Come on ladies, chime in. Anyone use a blow drying brush, curling iron, hair straightener, etc. in the bathroom?

  7. Ok we can talk Virgin Gorda Baths and Snorkel. First off we took a cattle boat over to the snorkel area. Not bad but there was probably 80-100 on the boat.

Thank you for your review - I'm really enjoying it.

I have a few questions about the Baths.

Did you do it on your own or through NCL?

It seems like there were a lot of people What time did you get there?

What's with the life jackets? This is the first time I've seen pictures of peole wearing life jackets on this excursion.

  8. OK, i'm going to ask a question that may seem dumb. I know on the ropes course you strapped into a harness, but what happens if you slip/fall off the thing you are walking on? Do you just hang there? Do you drop 10 feet? Just haven't heard from anyone who slipped...

That's a good question. I've been wondering the same thing. I have a fear of heights, but I really want to conquer the ropes course and the plank.

Can anyone answer this question for us?

  9. Great pictures.

Thank you for suggesting getting room service on early port days - we will definitely do that.

You mentioned there not being healthy choices on the kids' menu. Did you have to pay extra to get regular meals for your son in the MDR or are children allowed to order off the regular menu? I know our son won't want the "junk food."

  10. DH and I were just talking about a condo we stay in while in Hawaii. Right on the water, with the waves crashing. And we wondered what sounds we would hear from our balcony cabin (besides the sounds of the people in the cabin next to you). Do you hear waves crashing, or is it something different?
