You forgot to tell kecat about the awesome enrichment speaker on that cruise! 😉

Is that you, Satxdiver?  Honestly, the Eclipse is the specific reason we are going on this cruise.  I will jump over to the Roll Call to learn more!

We have been on the Emerald many times and will be on it again next month.  We always get D632 on a cabin next to it so that we are near the aft elevators.  Their has never been a problem with noise at any time of day or night.  D624 is near where we always book.

    Wonderful news!  Thanks so much!

I looked for reviews for you and found the cabin next to it with no mention of noise from 2018.

Perhaps the very old review of 2008 had something going on?  They should have reported noise to GS.

Maybe someone who’s sailed recently can advise.  Looks like a nice cabin.

BTW, welcome to the Princess forum!

I will keep my eyes open for any other input.  Thanks for checking for me.  And thanks!  I like this forum very much-you are all very helpful.

It might be a matter of what is in the white area across from the cabin.  Probably crew/service area but no way to tell.  EM

Exactly!  I guess I can bring my white noise and hope for the best.  Thanks for your reply!

  5. Hi All!  After pretty much sailing exclusively with Royal and Celebrity, we are excited to go on our first Princess Cruise. We are booked in D624 on the Emerald Princess (Panama Canal out of LA with the Solar Eclipse). I can only find one review of this cabin from many years ago and it was not a good one-lots of noise from an (unmarked) crew area. I did check the cabin compilation. Nothing there.  Does anyone have any experience with this cabin? I am trying to decide if I should bid to upgrade our cabin and will do it if this one is a noise nightmare.  Thanks!

  6. We did this last week.  We were off the ship by 7:15 and it is about a 10-15 walk to the port.  Pay for the ferry ON the ferry and masks are mandatory.  They will not give you one if you don't have one, so be prepared.  I think my husband and I paid around $75.00 round trip, which included transportation down to the Baths and back to the ferry port.  They will give you a wristband to wear so they know you have paid.  We had no trouble making the 11 am shuttle back to the port for the 11:30 ferry back to Road Town.  I will say that going through the Caves (the major attraction) took FOREVER (it was extremely crowded, and you have to wait in line) and I was starting to freak out a little, but we made it through with plenty of time to spare.  It was not hard to do on our own, and definitely worth the trip. Have a fabulous time!

  7. Advice please:  We are booked into a JS on the Mariner in March on a 5 night to Nassau & Labadee.  The JS is in a quiet place, but I just received the invitation to Royal up to a GS.  We were on the Brilliance last month and we did win the Royal up to the GS then.  Of course, we were right under the pool, so it was noisy at times, but the Suite is great! I know that we can access Barefoot Beach if we are in a suite.  We are Diamond+, so have those perks.   Any advice?  Are the perks on Mariner worth the potential noise headache?

  8. We were on the Brilliance 12/16 and had the same issue.  I actually heard one other person talking to their Cabin Attendant about the AC in their stateroom, as well.  We had maintenance come back twice to get it right, which they finally did.  Just out of curiosity, were you aft?  As far as a fan-yes.  We (fortunately) always carry on a small fan. The Vornado Flippi packs a nice little punch.

Bump. Any thoughts or guesses as to what is happening with these sailings? RCL reports they’re at capacity. I don’t believe it since Serenade’s December sailings are all wide open.

I talked to RCL last night and they assured me the cruise was not cancelled.   They also stated check-in would be open at the 30 day until departure mark.  I believe the norm is  90 days, correct? Then they tried to sell me a drink package, lol.  I checked the same thing you did-Serenade wide open and Brilliance "at capacity".  I am holding a cabin on the Serenade on the 14th as back up.  I would imagine we will know something once we are inside the 30 day range.

  10. We just got off the same cruise and found most to be wonderful with the exception of one very dismissive Guest Services Rep who basically told me I was nuts when I tried to explain that Diamond+ received a 30% discount on the deluxe drink package (we were charged full price). I finally asked her to go get the printout left in our cabins which showed the perks, She was a little nicer after that but still, I have never experienced that level of rudeness on any other ship so I get the OP's point.

  11. We just got off the Oasis yesterday. DH & I had a Junior Suite (which gives us access to CK for Dinner only) and our young adult children had a balcony. At first we were told that they could not accompany us but we asked again (in person and very nicely) and were told that they would be allowed since they were family. We could not make a reservation in advance but were told to show up every night to see if there was space. There seemed to be many open tables whenever we showed up and we ended up eating there 6 nights.

  12. We sailed the Brilliance (same class as the Jewel) out of Barcelona when our kids were 9 & 12. The ship was a great size, although definitely not the Oasis (which we sail on this Sunday!) I was not excited about Barcelona but we flew in 2 days early to tour and I ended up loving it! Rome is a few hours from Civitavecchia and the only port we booked an excursion through RCCL-we took their chartered bus in and then explored on our own. You won't get the full Rome experience you are dreaming of, but it was still pretty great. I would save the $5,000 and go out of Barcelona. Either way, congrats on a trip of a lifetime!
