  1. Read good reviews for RomeCabs, and was going to use them for our trip in July, but then ended up booking a 4 hour tour/transfer to from port with All Around Italy. They also offer port transfers into Rome. I didn't price out just the transfer, so not sure how they compare to RomeCabs.

  2. We thinking about booking an food tour with eatingitaly this July. We will be arriving at Civitavecchia at 7 am, an the tour is at 11:30...plenty of time to navigate public transportation. I've been reading though DIY threads about the train from Civi to Rome, and I'm still confused. As far as I can tell, it looks like there's a shuttle outside the ship that will take us to within a mile of the train station, then either bus or walk the rest of the way. Hop on the train and get off in Trastevere. Is this right, or am I missing something? Thanks!

  3. We're cruising out of Barcelona on June 29th. There are 4 of us as well, and we had no luck finding a room to fit us all, and ended up booking 2 rooms. We had booked the Hotel Catalonia Avinyo, but switched to Brun Barcelona, which was $100 cheaper, but has shared bathrooms. Both are located in the old city, and had great reviews about location.

  4. Congratulations to you! We're doing this same cruise in early July, and it's also our honeymoon :)! We have two kids, ages 12 and 7, and they're coming with us. Right now, we are planning a mix of private excursions, shared excursions (booked through roll call and tour sharing websites) and in Nice, Venice and Kotor we will head out on our own. The private tour providers that we are using and that I have read good reviews about are Rome in Limo, Joe Banana Limo and Mondo tours. Because there are 4 of us, the private or shared tours are less expensive than the ship excursions, so it makes sense. We too are worried about finding the right mix of sightseeing and relaxing...this cruise is really port intensive, so we may end up staying on the ship one day, maybe in Rome. Hope you guys have a blast!
