  1. Hi! I was thinking of planning another cruise in November and was wondering if anyone could tell me about the weather at that time of year. I know it is the end of hurricane season, and I looked up the information online, but I wanted to hear about it from people who have actually cruised that time of year. The cruise is to Cozumel, Jamaica and Haiti. TIA!

  2. Not sure where you live, but Pennsylvania is one of the states that do not or plan to meet the new government requirements for the enhanced driver license. I am still amazed that states can ignore the laws of the federal government. The passport card is an option but you are not able to fly from or to a foreign county with them. They are good for driving across the borders to Canada or Mexico. Enjoy your cruise.

I do live in Pennsylvania, and I am worried about that effecting our situation.

  3. Just wanted to add that you should make sure that your driver's license will meet the requirements I think there are 8 or 9 states that do not and will not be able to use drivers licenses for air travel (and I am assuming this will be true for cruises as well). You don't want to wait until the last minute if that is that case. The state we just moved in is one of the ones involved so the news stories catch my attention sometimes.

We are also a family of 5, so I know how expensive family travel can be. We do have passports for everyone, but we do travel some out of the US. Honestly, I am not sure what I would do if I was just planning on the one cruise. I have a hard time parting with that much extra cash but I like being prepared for any possible circumstance. If I didn't have a passport I would be on the lucky cruise that gets stranded at sea and towed to Mexico and required to fly home, lol!

I was thinking the same thing. I'm from Pennsylvania, so I'm from one of those states where our license won't meet the requirements. I was wondering if that could be a problem. I think it's best to get a passport, just to be safe.

  4. Hi! My family of 5 will be going on the Oasis next year. I just called to set up an appointment to get pictures taken and hand in paperwork to get our passports. I was shocked that it was going to cost close to $700 to get the passports for my family. I know I should get them to be on the safe side, but is it truly necessary because we don't travel outside the country. They would just be for this cruise. An additional $700 is a lot to add onto the total. What would you do?

  5. I'm not sure which deck we were on, but 11 sounds right. Yes, we were forward. I only remember feeling a lot of motion one night - sliding closet doors sort of motion. Otherwise, it was negligible.

My DH, who has trouble with motion, didn't have any problem on Oasis. On navigator, he had to take Dramamine the whole time. It didn't bother me in either case. And the kids were completely fine.

    Thanks!

  6. Our family of 6 stayed in one a couple of years ago.

Yes, there's storage under the bunk beds.

    There's no privacy curtain.

There was plenty of room to store everything in closets.

Our main problem was finding places to hang swimsuits to dry. Oh, and there were always shoes

I'm assuming you were on deck 11 way forward. Did you feel a lot of motion?

  7. I just switched cruises from Freedom to the Oasis. I am going with my family of 5. We had joining rooms on the Freedom, but couldn't get joining rooms on the Oasis. We ended up booking a family ocean view room. It's way up front. Is the Oasis big enough that we won't feel too much motion unless the Seas are rough? Has any one stayed in one of the family ocean view cabins on deck 11 that could let me know how those are? Thanks!

  8. We have done both the Western and Eastern itineraries on Freedom and really enjoy the ship. It's big but well laid out and has never felt overcrowded except for when they had shows on the Promenade.

We didn't do any shows the last time in December as we've seen them all before but they were good. We've especially enjoyed the Ice Show. Branching out to do Navigator this fall but wouldn't hesitate to do Freedom again.

In your opinion, did you like the western or eastern cruise better? We booked a western, but friends of mine said the eastern is better. Just wanted another opinion. Thanks!

  9. So far - Freedom is our favorite ship. The Oasis class are too big (for us) and the smaller ships tend to do shorter itineraries and lack some basic amenities.. Freedom was just right. And we really enjoyed the shows. It doesn't have Cats or Grease or Mamma Mia, but they're still high quality and quite enjoyable.

It all depends on what you're looking for in a cruise and where you're looking to go. If you need the latest and greatest bells and whistles, I'd go with Harmony, Oasis or Allure. If not - Freedom is a GREAT ship.

Thank you! Do you recommend a particular show?
