  1. Hi ladies! I'm new to this site and it looks awesome! I am getting married on the Carnival Ecstasy out of Charleston April 8, 2017. We'll have 50 guests and about 35 will sail with us on our 7 day cruise. Super excited! My question is are you wearing a traditional wedding dress or something more simple? I bought a dress a few days ago but can't stop thinking about a different one that I tried on. It is absolutely beautiful and my dream dress.. I'm just not sure if it's too "big" to enjoy on a ship? Any thought, opinions, experience, or pictures are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks y'all!

I am doing a traditional dress. I say it's your day...as long as you can get in the door no dress will be too big!:)

  2. I am getting married with RCL in July 2017. I used a travel agent to block about 40 rooms, since I only had a general idea of preferences of attendees and a very general number for those who are attending. We blocked a mix of Ocean view and Inside staterooms. The suites blocks are a little more pricey. Most of the guests we have booked today have selected the ocean view staterooms with balcony. I also received a quote from Royal Group Events to see if there were any differences from the group rates. I decided to go with a TA for a couple of reasons, the block fees were less $50 per room vs $200 per room with group events, more OBC's for guests and I wanted someone else to do all the leg work in terms of tracking and linking reservations. 2 of my guests used points from their timeshares and booked thru royal so it was easier to link them to our group booking.

Congratulations on your engagement and happy planning!

  3. So a small update.

I fired my personal wedding planner. She's nice and if we were having a land vacation I would have kept her. But she really let me down with the cruise date and as we move further along she really hasn't helped the way I thought she would and because we have such limited options with a cruise wedding I just decided it would be best to end our arrangement.

Sooo, it's just going to be me & FH with the planning. I expect my mom to help as well since she's retired and wouldn't mind.

Also, FH and his mom are going on the 5 night Bermuda cruise next month on Royal's Anthem. So they're doing our wedding cruise only a year early. FH's mom lives in Bayonne only a short distance away from the ship. Soo my plan is to have FH scope out everything in Bermuda so we have a better idea of what to do. I'm happy he's going with her, especially since it was last minute. It will be a good opportunity to check everything out. :D:cool:

Sounds cool! Have him take pics of Boleros please! Oh and have him scope out those in wedding dresses...:) Haven't seen any Anthem brides on these boards....

  4. Here are some pictures of our wedding day!!! Hope this works!!!

Great pictures, you looked beautiful! You two look so happy! Thank you sharing moments from your day....:)

  5. I just have to say that a girl can do all the planning in the world for that perfect wedding and until you get to that moment and realize all the planning couldn't make that moment you share exchanging vows with your new husband any better. Nothing else matters once you are looking into each others eyes falling even more in love than every day previous to that day.

Ladies don't sweat the details...just enjoy each and every moment.

Now with that being said I want you all to know that Carnival did an amazing job on our wedding! It really couldn't have gone any smoother from start to finish. We arrived at the cruise terminal and everyone directed exactly where we needed to go. Met our coordinator right at security and everyone was escorted to a little waiting area. Lucky for us we got through customs rather fast and were aloud to board by 11am. We went to the room and we all quickly finished getting ready. Now I have ready about the 20 minute wait that the bride does alone and let me tell you reading about that freaked me out a little, but luckily the photographer came and took pictures during this time. Speaking of the photographer....Janet was AMAZING!!! Words cannot express how grateful I am to her for capturing every single moment perfectly.

We had our ceremony in the Universe Lounge which is where they hold all the big shows. We came down from the second floor....this was the scariest thing that happened....walking down about 25-30 stairs in my dress...whew thank goodness my dad was there to help me down. The ceremony was absolutely amazing, then off to the reception. Now while this was quick and seemed like it was over in a matter of seconds it was perfect. Got to spend a little time with each guest and thank them for coming, dance a little, drink a lot and just plain be happy. Our package was the Celebrate Big package and it was just perfect. Opting out of the traditional things such as garter belt and flower toss. Then everyone that wasn't sailing had to leave us so we could get our extended party on for the weekend.

Everyone talked about how expensive the photos were.....yes the packages were expensive, but I have to say after seeing what an amazing job Janet our photographer did I just had to have it all. And in my own opinion it was worth every penny.

Again though ladies I get that you want the day to be so special and perfect but the only thing that mattered to me after it was all said and done was the moment when I got to my groom and the tears were running down his face. And the look in his eye when we were saying our vows and the little squeeze of his hand during the ceremony to calm me down. No decorations, no cruise line, no reception, no planning can make that moment any different or any better.

So happy for you and congratulations! If you are sharing pics, excited to see them!

  6. Congratulations to all you newly booked brides! 411 days away, 5 night to Bermuda Anthem of the Seas. I am so excited but am playing the hurry up and wait game like everyone else. Only thing for me to manage and focus on are my guest bookings and exercise at this point! :) 26 (3 kids) excited guests booked so far!

  7. Only 16 more days until we get married in Port of Miami on the Carnival Fantasy!! Getting so excited! Everything is just about ready to go, just a couple small last minute things to do. All I do now is wait for that call to go over final details. This board and all of you brides have made this whole experience so easy. Questions that I've needed answers to I've been able to find those answers here like parking, drinks for non sailing guests while they wait, how to carry everything onto the ship, etc. Thank you to all of you!!! We decided to go the easiest route and not bring on a bunch of decorations. All we have is a shadow box that I made to use as guest book, wedding favors, cake topper and a card box. My cousin is making silk bouquets/bouts for me and that's it....SIMPLE!!! Everyone keeps asking me if I"m stressed or nervous and I tell them NO that's the best part of getting married on a cruise ship.....NO STRESS!!! :)

Good luck and remember to have fun! You are like days away....

  8. I agree, the sooner the better! We're getting married next August and I want our save the dates to go out by the beginning of June at the latest. I meant to do it by the beginning of this month, but I couldn't find a STD I liked until now!

It just gives guests a physical reminder, even though the wedding seems so far away. I'm also making a FB group for the wedding that will include our travel agent (her idea!) so I can post information, answer questions, remind guests they need to book NOW ;), etc.

Ha! My TA had the same idea and I created my group last week. I just invited FB'ers to the group this morning as I wanted them to receive the physical save the date (with our wedding website address) first. Our group also contains the link to our wedding website. Congratulations!

  9. Hello all! Question about save-the-date cards... how soon is too soon? We've just received our cards (a vintage postcard theme), and we are prepping them now. We're getting married on the Carnival Valor next September. I was thinking of sending these no later than July... Since the cruise doesn't have to be paid off until July, that gives everyone a year to book/pay it off. But since I have the cards, should I send them now, or wait a little bit?

Side note... how cute are these? :)

First congratulations, very exciting! We sent last week for our July 2017 Anthem of the Seas wedding. I think the more notice the better, but it may also depend on your guest list. Folks have already started to contact our TA for details and pricing.

  10. Here are my pictures and website. I hope it is helpful! I will try to figure out how to upload the video too.

Thank you for sharing! You pictures look great and you were a beautiful bride. It looks like everyone enjoyed themselves. Congratulations to the both of you.

  11. Well still haven't been able to pay for the wedding. I tried contacting the lady who sent me the invoice but the number she provided led me to another person's voicemail. I left a message as well as e-mailed her yesterday. Today I've called off and on all day. My FH called and left a voicemail today as well. Tried calling the main number too but the phone just rings and rings, noone is picking up. :(

Maybe it's a busy day with ships departing over the weekends. Don't fret, I am sure they are just overwhelmed.

  12. Thank you! I wanted something that was beachy/nautical but laid back also. I finished our website before I sent the invites out because guests have to RSVP on the website. I got ALL of my inspiration from previous cruise bride's wedding websites. It was so helpful to see what others have done seeing as our weddings are not traditional. I'm still working on some things (like accommodations and our registry but here it is if anyone needs ideas!

Thanks for sharing your weDsite! I really enjoyed reading it and it made me super excited for mine (400+ days away).

  13. Update! My contract was approved! :D I remembered charsettb saying it took 2 days to get the approval so when it wasn't there this morning I e-mailed the lady I was communicating with. She wrote me back around 1:30pm to tell me it's approved and to let me know to contact her to make final payment. I called but of course there was no answer .

Oh, the venue listed in my contract is Two70 which is what I wanted so no change needed there.:D

Great news! I was expecting it to come soon. I am sending out my STD's tomorrow.

QQ, are you going to suggest your guest select Dynamic Choice or Dynamic Classic dining? I want to be able to choose different times but also like the idea of being around my friends and family at dinner time. What are you going with?

  14. Hello future brides! I just got married last week on the Carnival Ecstasy in Charleston. It was a GREAT experience. Stop stressing! We were married in port on embarkation day with the Time to Celebrate BIG package. We had 75 guests with 33 of them sailing. We only had two attendants, a MOH and BM. Boarding the ship was a slow process but we enjoyed talking and the air conditioned buses that they gathered us in were nice. I brought all of my decorations, guestbook, programs and favors in a Rubbermaid tub and assigned someone to carry it. Once onboard I explained the items to the wedding coordinator and she set them all up. I brought my dress in it's garment bag and assigned several strong men to help carry it. My MOH also got dressed on the ship since there were just the two of us. Once onboard we had just enough time to get dressed and then it was time to go! Someone asked about pictures on this thread. Pictures are taken in your stateroom about 20 mins before the ceremony, during the ceremony, after the ceremony (formal shots with guests), during the reception and be ready for a loooooong photo shoot after the reception. We took pictures before and after the muster drill and finished just in time for dinner. Everything was great. We brought our own minister. The pacing of everything was great. I had been worried that the reception was too short, but I think it was the perfect amount of time. The photos are beautiful and I loved being able to have them to show to everyone the last night at dinner. We bought the smallest package and bought a $3 photo album onboard to put the pictures in (photo albums are on sale the last sailing day). We also bought the video. There were a few hiccups, but Carnival has done a good job resolving them. Be prepared for everyone on the ship to know you are the newly weds and have lots of attention. Also, go to the Love and Marriage game on the last day. The questions were embarrassing to answer in front of family but still fun! I am going to try to figure out how to upload some of my pictures. Let me know if you have questions!

Thanks for sharing, sounds like you had an amazing experience. Can't wait to see your pictures!

  15. Well I have a complaint about Carnival's wedding planners. They are just a little too efficient. As the mother of the bride to be, so far all I've had to do is give them my credit card number to pay for the wedding. Granted, the wedding isn't until Jan, but still... There will really be very little for us to do. My dd and her fiance just need to decide about music and a few other small decisions and that's it. Twe has already put in the order that the wedding cake needs to be gluten free, (which I think is awesome). So for now I'm left twiddling my thumbs until it's time to do invitations and that kind of stuff. (Big Sigh)

Sue, that is a great problem to have! Good luck and congratulations.....weddings are so exciting!!!
