If you check out my Sapphire Live From thread in my expanded signature, I posted a picture of them the evening they occurred. I believe the first one, Do You Want to Dance was postponed to Jan 28 due to rough seas on Jan 22. Born to be Wild was on Jan 25, Let Me Entertain You was on Jan 30, and Bravo was on Feb 2.

Thanks so much!  That was very impressive that you were so busy during the day yet found time to attend all the shows!

We were just on the Sapphire for 30 days and had a great time! But then we were in an aft-facing VS cruising around the Antarctica Peninsula and visiting a bunch of SA ports featuring some pretty cool wildlife excursions! The condition of the ship was great with no visible rust to speak of. The seats in the restaurants and theater were comfortable. Our mattress was awesome, all of the plumbing and ventilation systems worked, and the crew was fantastic as usual! 😀

Could you please tell me what the productions shows were?  We're on her next month.

Agree. Also echoing Bruce, Ubers in Maui are much less plentiful than most folks expect but there are still enough of them that it works. Given that Kahului is near the airport (where there is consistently the largest concentration of Ubers) you are generally find getting one there most of the time.

Coming back is the issue. Headed back from the Maui Ocean Center you aren't travelling a great distance but you aren't near a major resort area either where they tend to concentrate. During the day I find the more limited number of Ubers are in and around the major resort areas of Wailea and Kaanapali which you'll be nowhere near. Ubers become far more plentiful and available towards the late afternoon into evening.

I would say take the Uber over to the MOC and then just be prepared to have them call you a taxi if one isn't available to go back. If you did head down to the beaches in Wailea for example afterwards, by the time the later afternoon rolled around you'd be able to get an Uber from most major resort there.

We don’t have a problem taking a taxi either. If we can take a taxi or Uber to the ocean center, would we be guaranteed to have a taxi to get us back to the ship?

you're feelings on a long cruise make me nervous! We’re booked on the 54 day March 2026 on the Island and worried it might be too long.  The longest cruise we’ve been on was a 28 day and loved it.  I get it about the same CD jokes as they become familiar after a while.   Were there a lot of sea days between ports on your 63 day?  And perhaps that made it feel too long?

We’ve also been on the Island twice, once in 2006 (loved it) the full walk around promenade and then again in 2016 after the back was chopped up and cabins added.  The Universal lounge was really missed for more options in entertainment.  I would have preferred a different ship for our 54 day but it goes where I want to go.

We booked that also and the only reason it makes me nervous is mail, the house, etc.  Not the length.  We've been on a couple 28 day and doing a 32 day soon. The great thing about the 2026 cruise is that they have a couple Hawaiian islands at the end so that there isn't more than 5 days between land.

  5. We'll be porting in Kahului next month and plan on taking an Uber to the Maui Ocean Center.  Someone made a comment that they had to walk really far from the ship to get to the area where they could get an Uber.  Then I started looking at how easy (or hard) it was to get an Uber anywhere in Kahului.  Now I'm getting concerned that we may have a problem getting there or, more concerning, getting back to the ship.  Has anyone had experience getting an Uber there?  Especially right at the port?

  6. My husband submitted our information through our brokerage because he thought it looked secure. Luckily, we have two step verification set up because someone tried to get into our account a couple days later.  That's a pretty big coincidence because it's never happened in the 10 years we've been with that brokerage.  The only good thing is that the OBC was given in less than a day.

Hi all, DH and I leave on our next cruise in 26 days and while some activities such as pickleball and sail away celebration etc have been added, there are still a lot missing such as production shows, dancing, karaoke and movies. On our last cruise (Canada New England in September) everything was posted at the 30 day mark. Does anyone know if a Caribbean cruise is different and when the rest of the activities will be posted. Thanks!

We are also on the Enchanted and leave on a BTB Saturday.  I've been looking at Journey to tell which day is formal. (it says formal portraits)  It has the info for the first leg and has for a couple weeks but still doesn't list it for the second leg.

  8. My husband applied for our credit a few days ago.  He went ahead and put in our investment firm.  I told him that I wasn't comfortable with that so he changed our password with a two stage authorization.  Last night someone tried three times to get into it so our account is locked.  It could be a coincidence that it happened now but it's a pretty big coincidence since it has never happened before. There's no way to prove who did it but we won't be giving our information to them again!

Also some other questions regarding booking b2b cruises separately versus booking them as one longer cruise.  Do they send you multiple medallions?  Assuming you aren't on either Plus or Premium pkgs do you pay multiple times for the Ocean Now delivery

they only send one medallion for two or more cruises. We have even gotten an email saying we need to set up the medallion or we will have to get it when we get on the cruise, but there is no way to do that 🙂 and you don’t have to.

I agree with you about the two casual dining, exercise, classes, etc. I wrote to a few of the bigwigs and got a call from someone at Princess wanting to discuss. She said they were looking into adjusting it based on the number of days. That was about six months ago so you can see how that’s going.

Also keep in mind that Princess accounting normally handles each booking number as its own entity.  So, if you get an OBC or a benefit on a 7 day cruise and do not use it all during that 7 days, Princess will generally not roll it over to the next voyage.  They close out the accounting for each booking number.  But if you book as a single (longer booking) they will carry-over unused OBC (and other unused benefits).

    Hank

We often book a BTB as two voyages.  OBC always rolls over to the next cruise. On our upcoming cruise, we have two booking numbers but it's in the Ocean Ready app as one voyage.

  11. We're doing a BTB soon.  We booked as two separate cruises but Princess combined them.  We received an email saying that we need to order our medallion soon for the second cruise or we would have to pick up at the port 🙂 Since we don't have the second cruise listed in the app, we can't do it if we wanted to.

Can you add the Princess insurance to your fare, without Princess Plus,  make your final payment ( thus saving the 6% difference) , then add the Princess Plus before leaving on the cruise ?  Hope that makes sense !  Would you end up saving the same amount as booking Plus on the ship ?

Yes you could do that.  But if you cancel the cruise, you will lose out on the money you paid for Princess Plus.  It makes no sense to me why they don't refund that part but they don't. And that's why it's included in insurance.

I find it hard to believe that the cost of the insurance won't increase if you purchase the Plus Package on board.  Your insurance covers many items that doesn't go away once your board the ship.  You could become ill on board and require an emergency evacuation and your insurance will cover the cost, up to your maximum benefit.  Has anyone actually purchased the Plus Package on board and can verify there was no increase in the insurance amount?  Does anyone know if we can use gift cards to purchase the Plus Package before arriving on board?

If you purchase Princess insurance, they wouldn't be able to charge you more once on board.  You pay for that insurance before boarding.  But in your scenario where you have an emergency evacuation while on the ship, you would lose the cost of Princess Plus because you didn't insure it.  Same with private insurance.  Princess Plus is lumped in with the cost of the cruise. We have a 32 day cruise coming up and we are waiting until we board to purchase.  It was going to add almost $200 to our non Princess insurance.  And we would add the cost of the package into figuring out how much insurance we would need.  One of the main reasons we get insurance is in case we can't make the trip. Odds are that we'll finish the cruise out once on board and we'll take our chances on that.
