  1. This question had nothing to do with a back to back cruise so forget that I said that 🙂 I have no questions about turnaround day.

My only question is wondering if we have to have a Covid test after disembarkation if we are US citizens. Because that is what two different employees told us. Is there anyone who recently disembarked a cruise in the US that are US citizens that had to take a Covid test?

  2. Yes we had our Covid test this morning for our second cruise.

We first learned of this when we were talking to the shore excursion desk about getting a Florida tour when we get off. He was telling us that we had to collect our luggage, go outside and then have our Covid test. I told him we were US citizens and he asked what state we were flying to. And then said you have to get a test because you’ve been out of the country. So then we went over to passenger services and asked them and they also said we had to have a Covid test. We will try to investigate further but I was wondering if anyone else had had this happen to them. And we are vaccinated and boosted.

Yes agreed!  I don’t understand why there are only a few on here that have reported issues.  I wonder if it is a particular phone type involved?  Did you call emed and report it?  Apply for a refund?

This is a big issue, because it’s my backup.

No I didn’t report it because it has already been reported to them. And we were able to use our laptop. We have an iPhone 13 promax. It doesn’t sound like it’s the phone, it’s the operating system.

Well, that isn’t good.  Did you try yours?

Need a backup for a backup! Uggg

No, I didn’t try because I have 15.2. And then I found out that the camera has to be pointed at the test the entire 15 minutes. So I figured that would be easier anyway just to lean the screen down on our laptop. But it stinks that they aren’t letting people know!

  5. We just took the home test yesterday. We have iPhones. My husband hadn’t updated to the latest version  yet so he tried to use his phone.  He has 15.1.1. So it’s not just 15.2. He was unable to use it. I’m so glad we knew about the issue before hand.

Usually the hours are 12:00 to 1:30. Try Alfredos. Usually no crowd at all 1st day.

I was also wondering about the dining room.  It used to be that Alfredos wasn't busy day one.  I think that's because some people didn't realize that it was free.  We haven't been able to get a seat on our last two cruises without a very long wait!

Thank you for the responses! I have explored options in Fort Lauderdale and found out there is a clinic  within walking distance to the Embassy Suites. I'm just paranoid with the new variant that we won't be able to get a test locally or in Fort Lauderdale. I'm going to order 2 of the home kits today...kind of like "insurance," so we won't be scrambling around trying to find a test at the last minute!

Could you tell me which clinic that is?  We have the home kits but I'm paranoid about them since I've read the liquid in some came dried up, etc.  Would just like a backup 🙂

The airline changed the flights. Since you are now ticketed, call the airline and tell them the flights they switched you to are not acceptable. I do not know about how it works in Canada, but in the USA with a change of time as large as you had, the airline will do its best to switch you to better flights at no charge.

Calling Princess would probably be an exercise in futility. They would likely offer the option to switching to different flights at today's pricing, not what you paid.

This just happened to us.  Princess changed the flight to the one that was closet to the original flight cost but it was unacceptable to us.  They would only change it if we paid a difference of $200.  We called American and asked if they would change it and they did.  The problem is that American took over the flight and now, if we have problems getting to the cruise, Princess won't help because they say they aren't responsible any more.  I'm rethinking using EZ air.

  9. It's been great reading these posts!  The Sky was the last ship we were on in January right before Covid, the ship were were supposed to be on last year and the ship we'll be sailing on in January.  Less than 2 months and I can't wait!!

I do have a couple questions.  Can anyone tell me when you were able to put in your arrival time?  Also, is Captain Tuvo on the ship?  He's our favorite.  He took our breakfast order and then signed it and gave it back to us 🙂

There is a testing site at the Iowa but I don't know the details. There is a place called Total Testing Solutions with many locations around LA that have both tests for free. You can make an appointment for many weeks in the future. I have used them for PCR & got results in about 30 hours. I will be using them for rapid for my upcoming cruise.

I'm confused what you're saying.  Where in Iowa did you get tested?

What are you wearing to dinner the other nights?

We've been on 27 cruises.  We took a Princess ship to Alaska and it was the most casual dining I've ever seen.  Lot's of sweatshirts.  I'd brought all my dress up clothes and gave up half way through and joined the sweatshirt crowd 🙂
