  1. Thank you for the information - much appreciated
  2. We’ve not explored the list of excursions that HAL are offering. Thought we would reach out to the message boards first. So thank you for the assistance and suggestions.
  3. Thanks for the responses. Will look at that for sure. Hoping to do a little mall shopping too 😉
  4. We are on the Nieuw Statendam in December and have a stop back at Fort Lauderdale mid cruise. We are from the UK. and would welcome suggestions for what we could do for the day and best way to get there. Many thanks
  5. Thanks everyone for the information. sounds like smart but no top hat!
  6. Many thanks for the information layers it is!
  7. Hi all not sailed with Princess for some years. Going to Alaska in May and wondering what the dress code is these days. Would welcome advice as to what men are wearing on formal nights? many thanks
  8. Hi all Planning an Alaskan cruise in May with Princess- San Francisco round trip. Would be interested to hear from anybody who has travelled to Alaska in May and what they feel we would need clothes wise. Many thanks
  9. Just wondering if anybody has done this on Marella previously. Trying to find out if there would be a lot of children on board? Thanks
  10. Thanks for responding. It’s interesting to hear of the experiences of others.
  11. It’s so interesting to hear different experiences. As I first mentioned , on our first night in the restaurant the only main course that was offered as a vegetarian was braised leeks. Manfredis was absolutely fine and we ate there twice on a 15 night cruise. We did not go to the chef’s table . I also identify with the comments that the vegetarian options in the WC were sometimes jacket potato and boiled vegetables as I had that a couple of times. It is so heartening that many of you have had great experiences as vegetarians . I’ve been vegetarian since I was 12 and find there is still room for improved offers in many eateries, but it is certainly much better than it was a number ( quite a big number) of years ago when I started my vegetarian journey. Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread
  12. I guess that allergies can end up with serious consequences, but this isn’t the case with vegetarians. Thank you for your information.
  13. We met the executive chef several times - in fact he came and sought me out in the restaurant one night, but never mentioned getting the menu in advance . I did advise them before we sailed that I was vegetarian. I also visited guest services and gave them a list of anything to avoid which was just a couple of items. Thanks for responding .
  14. Thanks for the information. Can you tell me which ships you were on? I have to say the chef was helpful, but the choices in the buffet were limited and, as I mentioned, my meals in the restaurant just appeared each evening and I never knew what was coming. I understand that vegetarian on Virgin is , I’m told by a neighbour, amazing choices. Thanks again
  15. Sorry, my response was posted in the wrong place at the end of Mich3554 ‘s post.
  16. Looking for some information from any vegetarians who have sailed on Viking Ocean. We recently had our first cruise with Viking. We have cruised for a number of years with 8 other lines. Always had plenty of vegetarian options. On our first night on Viking in the MDR they offered braised leeks as a main course - no other choice. We went to the buffet and had pizza. The following day at lunch I wandered up and down the buffet with nothing on my plate. I had the good fortune to bump into the executive chef who was really helpful. He arranged a meal for me each night in the MDR. This was fine, but I never knew what was coming, and I never had a choice. Christmas Day was pasta in tomato sauce. All the meals I had were fine. My husband is a meat eater and he enjoyed his meals. For seafood lovers the displays were amazing. We are now considering another Viking cruise, so would welcome any comments from those of you who have had good experiences as a vegetarian, and which Viking ship you were on. I did find the chef very helpful but wondered if there were veggie options widely available on other ships? Grateful for any information.
  17. Hi Has anyone bought the wifi package on Azura recently and if so did it work well? many thanks
  18. we fly in March and although we have the outward flights, haven’t yet received details of the return . We go in 49 days!
  19. That’s a relief to read that as we are going on Azura for the first time in March and reading recent reviews has really scared us. So many very negative comments about staff shortages, food, entertainment etc.
  20. Thanks so much for the information : that is really helpful. We too have had midship suites on Britannia and agree that the balcony is a disappointment . So it looks like Arvia, aft, and a higher deck for our ( hopefully) Caribbean cruise in November next year.. I will be looking out for the reviews once Arvia sails in December. Thanks again
  21. We are checking out itineraries on Arvia and we would like to treat ourselves to a suite. However it looks like the balconies at the front have steel fronts which we aren’t keen on. It seems there are no mid ship suites. That leaves the aft balconies. So my question is whether anybody has been on these on Iona and if they found it noisy? From what I can see they may look over pools? We love the peace and quiet on a balcony and would be disappointed if there was a lot of noise. Any advice would be gratefully received.
  22. Thanks for the responses. I don’t eat fish either, but am fine with eggs and cheese. I’m sure that it will be fine, but when looking at sample menus from the dining room I didn’t see anything different or interesting. Looks like the World cafe could be our ‘go to ‘ . Thanks again
  23. Hi We are seasoned cruisers but going on our first Viking cruise in a few weeks. I’ve been looking at reviews and YouTube and lots of meat and fish dishes are mentioned, but very little vegetarian options. Sample menus show extremely limited choices for vegetarians. Just wondered for those of you who have sailed with Viking previously if any of you are vegetarian, and if so did you find good choices? Any advice would be gratefully received.
