So, all in all, the Spirit was an awesome ship, right?

Yes it was. The food was so so in the dinning rooms. The music around the ship was ok but not the

best. Over all the trip was wonderful. The 5 sea days was boring to us because we don't do trivia.

Sounds like your beef is not with NCL, but with the tour provider. The tour provider could not operate the helicopters because of fog/low ceiling - that is pretty common in Alaska. The tour provider offered you an alternate tour, you signed the ticket accepting the alternate tour (that's totally on you), and you are not happy with the alternate tour.

If you accepted the alternate tour (which is shown by your signature on the ticket), that's what you get.

They didn't give what was told. the could have offer a parcell refund. I really think you would pay 500 bucks to play with the dogs!

  3. We just got off a 16 day Alaska and Hawaii cruise on the Spirit. Great cruise but one turn off.

The ship is a beautiful ship. The crew and staff are one of the best we have had in over 35 cruises. BUT, I will never book a shore excursion on ncl again.

we wanted to go to the dog sled excursion but my wife could not do the swinging bridge part of it so we went down to talk to one of their agents and he fix

us up  with a helicopter and dog sleding tour. It cost us $510 bucks. The morning of the excursion it was really foggy. We went down to  see if the excurson

was still on. Well we was told that we didn't have the helicopter part. But we could not get a refund because we had signed the ticket. we evan went to the

general manager of the ship and he said since we signed, it was legal and we could not get a refund. In all we paid 510 bucks to pet some dogs. That part

was nice but not for 510 bucks. So we will book our excursions off of the ship for now on.

Alaska and Hawaii was really nice.

Well thanks to the first response we are good to go with the drink package.  Wondering about the overall NCL experience.  Being Platinum with Carnival there are some perks but it sure would be nice to experience other cruise lines.  We are not the party type, we do like our shows/entertainment.  We miss the Broadway style shows Carnival use to have.  Does NCL offer good entertainment?  Hopefully no up charge?

    Thanks

we have 25 cruises on ccl and 15 ncl. we like ncl better because of the dinning. there is more choices on ncl. i don,t know about the new ccl ships. but we have a 16 day alaska and hawaii coming at the end of this month on the spirt. and we have a b2b  14 day and 7 day on the jade in feb. so that should tell you something. i know it is a personal joice on either one... good luck!

If you do have to keep the drink package for both of you....well first, try what @JandC_Cruising said, but be sure to contact the Access Desk. If you have a doctor's note that would be even more helpful, but I don't have personal experience with this. Good luck!

Anyway, remember you can order lots of mocktails. My husband's bar tab is actually more than mine as he orders three or four sodas and five or six mocktails a day. I have two to three vodka with club soda, and maybe one or two cocktails per day. So, just remember you can take advantage of more than just soda!

Deckhand Dave's in Juneau is great! (the Hangar is also good)  the Red Dog if there are other ships docked in port before you get off yours all I'll say is good luck getting in. As for the King crab you can get the same king crab at one of your 4 Costco's as you'll get in Alaska and it will be WAY cheaper.

Thank you very much!  I will look in to these. I know the crab will not be cheap, but the 16 day cruise isn't either. But you only live once. Thanks again.

  8. Going on a 16 day alaska and hawaii cruise in aug. is there any good restraunts close to the ports in alaska. it doesn,t matter what port. just want some good seafood. we are going to the basic ports. thanks for the come backs. first time in 35 cruises that we are going to alaska and hawaii.

Thanks as of right now were booked at the Crown Plaza in Baton Rouge and just plan to get up early and park at the terminal. was just seeing if there may be other options out their.

we always stay at the best western plus at gretna, they take you to the port via taxi and it is paid for. but you can leave your car there for 14 days free. you do have to pay your way back but it is so nice to get back and get your car and leave. we have done this 4 times and will do agin.

  10. We get the handicap cabin all the time. But, this is our first alaskin cruise and would love to get a balcony for this trip. has anyone have pictures of the balcony handicap room. i know the inside rooms are very roomy for us. Just wondering if the bacony is worth the extra money. thanks alot. This will be our 17th cruise.

  11. People here are gripping because the tips are $16 dollars a day. I think it is worth it. we have been going on ncl for some time now. They up their tips $20 a day! we are suppose to go on a 14 day cruise next February. Go figure that up. I might cancell that one and go back to carnival.

Ok, I'll bite. ---I have no problem with the old muster drills. HOWEVER, something needs to be done about morons that don't show up. FINE everyone that is more than 10 minutes late. Get your butts to muster so I can get back to DRINKING! 🤪I get really tired waiting 30 minutes or more for azzh oles that think the rules don't apply to them.

But, some people like to make an intrance so they can be seen.

We are new to NCL and will be sailing on the POA.  How can we order distilled water for the CPAP machine?  Also how do we make dinner reservations for the specialty restaurants?

We are thinking of taking the bus transfer to airport with stop at Pearl Harbor at the end of the cruise.  Does anyone have any personal recommendations about this tour?

    Thank you for your help.

we were on the dawn 2 weeks ago and all you have to do is ask your room steward to get you a bottle of distill water. you will have it in your room the same night. and, it is also free.

Had you been on the Dawn before the refurbishment too? It will be interesting to see if it feels different. We've been on it twice as well as several sister ships that are exactly the same. I was sad to read that the Great Outdoors is now a kid's pool. I agree that was probably a needed amenity but that was my breakfast and sailaway space.

we were on the dawn last jan. it was great.

Since Easter is the 9th, many lower schools will be out the week before. We'll be on the Dawn with our 12 year old. The cruise on the 2nd would have many more kids than the one on the 9th. I'm guessing there are no spring break kids on that one unless they are online or homeschooling kids. College breaks are probably over by either cruise. The Dawn is not the water slides and race car type of cruise so there may be less kids than those ships.

we will be on the Dawn tomorrow for a 11 day cruise. we love the dawn and the crew has always been the best. there is no bells and whistles on the dawn but it is a great ship!

  16. How strick are they on the check in time? I have a 12 to 12:30 slot. the shuttle will get us there at around 10 or so. we booked with cas and we had early boarding before. will we have to wait and do they let cas board early?

The main time someone wants a 3rd entree I bet is lobster night. Some wants 3 lobsters. ..even if nothing else, skip the appetizer and dessert. I'm all about the lobster. Though 3 is a bit much for me I bet many men can eat 3 lobsters.

I only order 2 lobster and one cruise our waitor brought 4 extra and said they had way to many for the night. This was the 1st elegant night. so if they have a lot left over, they might bring you more. BY the way, i shared with the table. lol.
