  1. The beach at Maho is horrid. If you must see the low flying planes, find something else to do afterwards. ;)

Haha thanks! To be honest I didn't think it was the best beach. We've now changed our minds and will use water taxi/ bus to get there so that we can leave whenever we like instead of being stuck there for 4.5hrs.

  2. Hi,

I'm sure this may have been asked before, we are going to St Maarten for the first time and are looking at excursions to Maho beach.

I've found one on http://www.cruisingexcursions.com (Is this a ligit site?), however we are wondering if 4.5hrs at Maho beach it too long and if there is anything else around that area preferably in walking distance.

I keep seeing trips for Orient Beach & Maho which gives 2hrs at each beach. This is an option for us too, but I'm desperate to see the KLM flight come in and the combined trips go to Maho last which miss the KLM flight.

    Thanks for any help!!

  3. I have found that since Royal created the problem that maybe the fix should cost them money..... Seems to work for me. So what I do is place the clothes on hangers in the bathroom and run the shower with the door close to make hot steam, 30 to 60 minutes. You will need to allow a couple of hours for the dampness to dry from your clothes, but they will be wriggle free.

With the added bonus of wasting all that water and energy required to make the hot water, pump through the ship and handle the waste water. :):):):)

    ^^ This!!

I've used this method many times while travelling and it works really well!

  4. Of course I would say cruise sooner rather than later but the thought of spending time in Orlando or Miami in September would make me run for November. I'm not sure where you are from but it is very hot and humid in Florida in the warmer months. It's still hot and humid of course in November but maybe less so.

We are from England and often travel to the States in September/ April time, usually going more West Coast though.

This would be our second time in Florida, so not sure on what the weather is like. We were in Miami back in the very beginning of October and the weather was perfect for us. I believe we'd be going the middle of September this time if we choose this cruise.

November feels too far away, but could be worth the wait?!

  5. Hi,

This will be my second cruise, my first cruise was in early October 2014 and we sailed the Western Caribbean. The weather was beautiful and seas were smooth (phew!)

We are looking at booking our 2nd cruise and have narrowed it down to a few different dates that fit our schedule.

It would either be September time or early November 2016, sailing the Eastern Caribbean for 7 days and then a further 7 days post cruise in Miami or Orlando.

Weather is obviously very un-predictable but what are your experiences of sailing at these times and which is a better time to go?

I do worry about rough seas, I got awful sea sickness as a child but I seem to have grown out of that.

Thanks in advance for any advice/ help. I believe we would be sailing Royal Caribbean- Allure or Oasis.

  6. Park Cafe was my favourite! The beef sandwich was super yummy- secretly this is why I want to go back on Allure :)

Thank you for the info in regards to the shows- it seems Allure hasn't changed its shows very much since I went. We saw Chicago, otherwise all the other shows are the same as before.

  7. Hi,

I'm new to this so I hope I've put this on the right thread.

I went on Allure of the seas about 17 months ago and had the best time! It was my first cruise and I am wanting to go on another. We are looking into doing Eastern Caribbean as we did Western last time and the ships that seem to be sailing are Allure, Oasis or Freedom.

I've done some research and can't see any difference between Allure and Oasis apart from age. Are there any differences? I know Freedom is slightly different which ship do you recommend?

We are hoping to travel somewhere between September - October 2016 time. Our last cruise was early October and we had amazing weather and smooth seas, so again hoping this is a good time of year to go.

Thank you in advance for any help.
