  1. We always went to the buffet area on the reflection n they had a big round self service table of scones, whipped cream n preserves or strawberries.

is this offered on the BEYOND as we love it. It’s not a proper English tea just the scones etc. As we normally get them n head to our balcony to enjoy.

can anyone answer this as our ship leaves tomorrow Feb 5 ?

    thx

  2. I have a main problem with the APP...I checked in and all was in my Iphone 13 Wallet but then I changed my ONLINE PC LAPTOP for Celebrity password and all hell broke loose.
I am NOW waiting for IT dept to fix this issue and told it wud take a week.
SO NOW my wallet has my checkin -greyed out and I am being told to keep trying.

I am NOT taking a PC on vacation.   So this needs to be done probably at the port.  NO idea and the IT dept is so screwed up.

  3. Remember when we complained that it was only warm water lobster that was served? I guess the push for specialty dining is getting stronger.

NCL has a major habit of nickel and diming you to death...I am going on an NCL cruise in nov. and am normally a Celebrity cruiser..but going with friends...Celebrity ALWAYS has lobster one nite..and I went on Carnival with a GF last year and they had one nite of lobster tails ( WAITER asked if we wanted to order 2 at one time since they were smallish--other formal nite was BEEF WELLINGTON...and this was CARNIVAL !! so be forewarned...

  4. No grill..just a bar and lots of lounge chairs which go very early..that is the one nightmare..we always ended up on the top tier deck to sunbath and it was a long staircase down to go to pool..royal pain. Also heads up..on the ESCAPE , you NEED to reserve your comedy club shows, the cruise shows and all meals..the ship is TOO big and the venue areas are TOO SMALL to accommodate all the passengers..Went on it last year and said never again..had the unlimited drink pkg ( I hardly drink)..had 3 frozen drinks in 1 hr and was cold sober..they are watering down the alcohol.

  5. So, as a perk, you get unlimited wireless on your cruise. Does this mean you won't get charged if you use your phone to text or use other communication apps? Probably not. Everything you do on your phone goes through your provider, so although your connection may be free, you're likely racking up data charges with you favorite phone company. So... on to my question: Is it best just to leave your phone at home? Is it better to bring a tablet that's loaded with your favorite communications apps and has no connection to wireless providers?

turn off your data on your cell...then you can text out and receive texts in...if u r on Verizon, it's 50 cents to send a text and 5 cents to receive it ( or I might have it backwards) but it is dirt cheap and u are not hit with International phone charges...The wireless is good to check your emails on a laptop or nook..I usually ck my emails on my nook..

  6. NJ Fred= You are correct. it IS absurd to charge so much pp when you are paying so much for supposedly good food in the Main dining room..

however, on the flip side, if you are having an anniversary, the MURANO can't be beat.

And Qsine is just plain fun and funky and enough food for an army.

  7. I forgot to tell you that around the 4 month period before you sale they ran a 20% sale on all dinning and shore excursions which I took advantage of on the meal side and one excursion ! Bob

Bob- so you did NOT book a specialty dining PRIOR to boarding ship or DID you get the specialty dining when you got on ship....

ie. If you purchase pkg, you cannot book the separate dining rooms that you want PRIOR to getting on the ship..then you need to book via the Maitre de for each specialty restaurant.

We have been on the Reflection 3 times and love it...Normally love Tuscan Grille the best but they are cutting down on cost and don't have the veal chop that my hubs loves so I changed it to Murano...We have eaten in Murano, Tuscan Grille, and Qsine..I am leaving off Qsine this time as I am tired of the menu...Wondered if the Lawn Grille or the Porch were worth it..The Porch is NO reservations and $30 pp ( which I would not use as part of any dining pkg since it is so much less than the fancy restaurants.

Hubs just decided to bring jacket since he knows guys normally wear one in Murano..and he is looking forward to it as I read him the menu...But the PORCH sure looking inviting.

give me a heads up on when and how you booked your specialty dining..ie prebuy a pkg and make reservations once on ship or buy each separately prior to boarding and pick your exact time..

    thx loads

    Andrea

  8. We were on her the week of 12/3 and had a 1A on deck 9 hump with the bigger balcony. The cabin was the best we have had. I loved the ship so much we booked Dec 8 2017 for 10 days Southern in Aqua this time. I had the same experience as you in the MDR and select dinning. We noticed the same as you about filling the table first before taking our orders. The big difference we had is we ate only twice for dinner and had the same table and staff and they were terrible. We did Spec. dinning 4 nights and we loved every room we ate in.I agree with you about the other items like the pool and the service on the ship ! We miss it already ! Bob

    Bob,

I just spoke to Celebrity..they explained the pkgs to me as follows: you pay for pkg and make reservation when you get ON THE SHIP...what if they don't have a time available that you want and the restaurant selection that you want?

I prebooked the MURANO for one nite since it is our anniversary...I know the 1st nite on board, all specialty restaurants are 50% off..

I wanted to do the 3 nite pkg but if I don't know where and what time I am dining, what good is that? I am a person who likes to plan everything out..

    Help please...

    Thx

    Andrea

  9. I'm also on board Reflection this week. While I agree the ship is in good order, and staff as obliging as ever, my experience is rather different. Posting this as a regular Celebrity cruiser and Elite CC in a Concierge room.

I may post more later, however Tuscan was disappointing. The new menu is rather dull, and the higher cover charge does not reflect a premium product.

The lack of dining packages appears to have hit the take-up of speciality dining and discounted offers are now available; this wasn't the case earlier in the week.

Select dining is chaotic. Waiters are covering more guests than before, still with a smile, however with no time to engage with guests. It's a case of in -> fed -> out.

So neither being a big fan of the Select MDR experience or ambiance as it is now, nor of being exploited at Speciality dining prices and quality, I'm rather torn as to where my Celebrity journey goes next. If this is Modern Luxury, then dearest Lisa, I regret that I am neither modern nor luxurious enough (or perhaps too modern and too luxurious?) for the direction you are taking the brand.

In other news, it's easy enough to get a seat at all bars and lounges and the staff are as delightful as always.

Finally, I know i have spent the day in the sun, but have just seen a woman with a small dog, the tiny Paris Hilton type (dog, not woman) on board. That's a first for me.

    _____________________________________________________________________________

We always do one nite in the Tuscan Grille for their veal chop..Is it still on the menu?

Has service slipped? Is the food still good? It used to be the highlight of our cruise.

we have tried all the specialty dining rooms and Tuscan was our best when we were on last Dec. 2015..

    Please help..we leave Jan 7-2017

  10. Great review. Look forward to more details. Will you talk about shows? We are on Reflection 1/7 and so very ready to set sail.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

We are on the Reflection Jan 7-14 ,2017 and wondered about the drink pkg which we opted to get. We were on NCL Escape and had a drink pkg in MAY and I have to say NCL watered down their booze immensely. I had 3 mudslides at the pool in an hour and 1/2 and I DON"T DRINK...I was stone cold sober.. with all that supposed alcohol, I should have felt something.

Was wondering if CELEBRITY was also doing the same thing with their booze pkg.

If that is the case and it's so hard to get waited on , I guess I am going to exist on cappucinos for the entire 7 days..

Also heard food was getting sub par...We have tried ALL the specialty dining on the Reflection since this will be our 4th cruise on this ship. We are going back to the Tuscan Grill as their veal chop is AMAZING..I was wondering if service and food quality was still good on the Tuscan Grill.

We always get select dining for 2 by a window and NEVER had a problem with a waiter taking an order and like you said about quantity, just order 2 of something..But the idea of 2 1/2 hr to dine is a little nuts esp if you want to see show.

HOW were the shows on board? Did you do any excursions like possibly snorkeling in St Kitts? if so who did you use? I never book excursions with the ship as their prices are off the charts...I always do my own excursions ( i am a former travel agent who sold the hell out of Celebrity and am upset at all the negativity that I have been reading on this, their newest ship).

All help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thx

    Andy

BY the way, ARE jackets still worn in the select dining room by men? My hubs doesn't want to bring a jacket if no one is wearing one. I always like to do fancy casual and still do a fancier outfit for formal nite...but definitely do NOT pack a tux and fancy cocktail dress anymore..Everyone seems to be more laid back now. SO plz fill me in..

    Thx

  11. Congratulations on the anniversary! I hope the cruise is spectacular for you both.

As for the solo cabin.......would not be my first choice, but it is very cost effective in that I spend so little time in my cabin. The dollar savings will go towards my cruise on the new Koningsdam in late august sailing to Norway. I have balcony booked on the Jade in November so I'll be back to my routine once again.

As for the Escape, the only decisions I have to make is whether to book the supper club (need to read comments on the entertainment) and second is whether to purchase the Vibe pass. On the Getaway I purchased the Vibe, but found myself using it as a backup if the sun walk was crowded or the stern adult area was packed. Will probably purchase it anyway in case the ship is full and outdoor seating poses a problem.

As soon as the dinning reservations are open I will book the specialty restaurants.....Cagney's at least three nights, Le Bistro twice. I also hope to be able to find at least one or two table mates as I don't like to dine alone. Good conversation and a nice glass of wine adds so much to a meal. The Singles solo lounge supposedly if a good place to post a message looking for dinner companions, so I might try it this time......if not I'll just talk to my shrimp cocktail:D:D:D

Tours....maybe one at Tortola.......St Thomas is my usual walk into town, window shop, have a beverage and then stroll back to the ship....I am always amazed at how things continually change yet remain the same.

    Is it May yet???

  12. when I went to do port arrival time NOTHING was left.

Travel agent said don't worry...go whenever you want...it's not big deal..

We are super past passengers of both Celebrity and Princess but this is just our 3rd NCL.

It was a very last minute decision...just needed to get away for some down time...

  13. We've had a private driver pick us up a number times and it can be very worthwhile. Nice to see someone holding a sign with your name on it when you get to the arrivals area.

But taking a taxi from the airport in Budapest is not an issue. You get in line, tell the person at the window where you want to go and get into a licensed taxi. Have the address written on a card or slip of paper to avoid any misunderstanding.

Do not hail a taxi on the street in Budapest since you run the chance of getting ripped off.

Nancy. I saw ur response on booking a private driver and I would like to book on at the PRAGUE AIRPORT to go to the HILTON and ALSO book a driver from the VIKING LONGSHIP TOR in Budapest from the SHIP to the airport so we don't get ripped off by local taxi drivers.

    Help with website or names??

    thanks

    Andy

  14. We are booked on the VIKING LONSHIP TOR and did a 3 day pre cruise extension in Prague. This itinerary goes from Nuremburg to Budapest with optional 3 day pre cruise in Prague

we were wondering the cost of a TAXI from the PRAGUE AIRPORT to the HILTON HOTEL ( which Viking uses in Prague) and ALSO we do not have transfers from ship in Budapest to the airport since we booked our own air. Viking will sell transfers for $60 PP.

Does anyone know of a reliable taxi service that we can pre-book in BUDAPEST to take us to the airport on May 13 to catch our home plane?? and also the cost of the taxi if pre-booked .

Seems extremely expensive of Viking to charge $60 pp transfers...The travel agent I booked with told me it was 30 EUROS ( equal to $30 USD ) for a taxi from Prague airport to the Hilton and the same amount quoted from port in Budapest to the Budapest airport..

If hailing a taxi leads to a rip off, is there a private taxi service that I can hire to pick us up in either city???

    PLZ help...and THANKS !!

    Andy

  15. You don't die from snorkeling unless u panic and gasp for water...the instructors tell you how to breath thru the tube which is NOT under water...I always wear a floatation device for snorkeling and go with a partner..not cool to do it alone.

No idea what happened to this poor teacher unless she panicked, inhaled water and choked that way...that IS possible. My husband hates to snorkel as he doesn't like how he has to breathe and always takes on water ....so I go with another partner ....it is safe sport IF u listen to the guide.

Any other problem that cud have arisen, is being stung by stingray or even a bad attack by jellyfish...there cud be a number of things that could have happened...I doubt if the cruise line would ever give out the real story.

  16. IMHO, I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Celebrity...the food is awesome, even in the main dining room with the anytime dining..and u can pre-reserve your dining time and they honor it..Ie pre reserve PRIOR to getting on ship. Recently did the REFLECTION (my favorite) and also THE ECLIPSE ( awesome also..but the itinerary was the selling point)

Have been on Princess but it has been years..but our last Princess cruise was great..great service and great food..and they also have anytime dining.

Have been on Windstar and LOVED IT....

Have been on Oceania and LOVED IT.............

Have been on 2 Carnival cruises and you cannot PAY me to go back on that line.

Have not done NCL in 5 yr and their freestyle dining left a bad taste in my mouth..figuratively and literally..DID not opt for any prepaid meal plans but after 2 nites in the main dining room with AWFUL food and even worse service, we ended up doing a few of the other free places but added 4 pay for restaurants. Unfortunately the pay for rest. ARE better...cannot understand why a cruise ship charges higher money , give u mediocore food and in essence, forces u to pay for extra food in order to have a decent dining experience.

If I wanted to pay for extra food every nite, I would stay home and dine locally for the same money with great service and great food. I just don't get it.

Having said that, I am giving NCL another try and if it stinks, this will be my 3rd time...and if the 3rd time is not a charm, I AM out the door on this cruise line.

BY the way, I have been cruising for 35 yrs and love to cruise...but like cars, all are different..
