Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I personally checked out the DV2's on deck 5 in the middle of the ship and most DO have the bump out (or pilaster). Below is the list of cabins WITH a pilaster: 5050 5051 5052 5053 5054 5055 5056 5057 5058 5059 5060 5061 5062 5063 5064 5065 5066 5067 5068 5069 5070 5071 5072 5073 5074 5075 5076 5077 5078 5079 5080 5081 I'm pretty sure that these four DV2 cabins on deck 5 in the middle of the ship DO NOT have the pilaster: 5046 5047 5048 5049 My list for deck 4 is not as extensive and comes from other cruiser's input. Here are the DV4/5 cabins WITH a pilaster: 4039 4041 4042 4058 4061 4069 4070 4072 4080 4081 4082 4083 4084 4085 4095 Deck 4 cabins WITHOUT the pilaster: 4003 4028 4029 4030 4037 4059 4089 4093 4096 4097 4098 4099 4103 4104 4110 4111 4118 4037 Please feel free to add to the list. As I said in my original post, my husband's walker will not slide past the pilaster without folding it up whereas in the cabin without the pilaster he can push it right into the room which makes it a lot easier and safer.
  2. We were on the Star in April, and at that time there was not a set of drawers in the closet. So yes, the drawer space on this particular ship is quite limited. I have heard that they are going to add the closet drawers on the Star but don't know when that will be.
  3. In the afternoons on sea days, when they show a movie in the cinema, popcorn is available. They have it all set out in cute little bags right outside the entrance to the Star Theatre. Nice, salty snack!
  4. Can anyone tell me if cabin 4087 has the bump out or pilaster as they are apparently called.
  5. Some of the DV4 and DV5 rooms have a wall bump out at the foot of the bed and some don't. See the difference in these two pictures. Is there any way to know ahead of time what rooms do NOT have the bump out? If the bump out is there, my husband can't get past the bed without folding up his walker.

  7. Last year we arrived in Montreal very late (due to a necessary flight change after Hurricane Ian) and were met at the airport by a driver from Viking. We were the only ones that he picked up and he drove us directly to the ship. Once onboard, the check in was done at Guest Services where there were Mimosas and a bowl of apples available. We were checking in around 12:30 am. When we got to our room, our suitcases were waiting for us along with a lovely array of snacks and a bottle of sparkling wine! It was a fantastic way to start our much needed vacation after the stress of experiencing a hurricane.
  8. We were just on a TA from FL to Barcelona and art classes were offered on some of the sea days. Erin was a wonderful instructor who taught us Zentangle which is a very interesting type of art. The supplies were furnished and we didn't have to preregister for the classes. There was also another instructor who held writing workshops on sea days.
  9. I received a call from a Viking Customer Relations representative re: the 4 dogs onboard our Star cruise. He reassured me that this will never happen again as they have now changed their policy. According to the representative there will never be more than 2 dogs onboard and these dogs must be true service animals that have had their appropriate documentation approved by Viking. Emotional support animals will NOT be allowed. I am impressed that Viking listens to their customers, is willing to institute rule changes and personally reaches out to customers who have written or called in.
  10. No, deec, I never heard any of the dogs bark. I also did not wish to engage in conversation with any of the dog owners.
  11. If you are sailing on the Star tomorrow after we disembark in Barcelona, and are allergic to dogs, one of the dogs was in cabin 4067 which was next to us. I don't know what cabins the other three dogs were in. I filled out the final questionnaire today and expressed my extreme displeasure with the surprise of finding three dogs onboard.
  12. At lunch today I saw one of the dogs sitting on a chair outside the World Café. I spoke to a supervisor about this being unacceptable and he sent staff out to speak with the dog's owner. The dog then spent the rest of the mealtime sitting under the table.
  13. I just saw 2 of the dogs in the last hour. These are the smallest dogs, the other two are a bit larger. Emotional support or regular service dogs.....I have no idea.
  14. This is for real! We are currently on this cruise where there are 4 "support" dogs aboard and just last night saw a dog sitting on a chair outside the World Café. I have never before seen dogs aboard a cruise ship and am personally not very happy with the situation.
