My husband would like to wear his tux on NYE on our cruise. Do people do that or would that be too formal?
Thanks!

Hello! We’ve been on one cruise (Alaska with Holland America) and loved it. Considering doing a Carnival cruise over Nee Years.
What is the dress like? Formal? Cocktail? Party?
Thanks!

Thank you.
I’ve only ever been on one cruise. In June we sailed on Holland America’s Eurodam. Smoking was only permitted on one side of the aft outdoor pool, so it was easy to avoid.
I’ll have to talk with my friend.

I am looking at booking a cruise on the Epic. The friend I would be traveling with is allergic to cigarette smoke. I know there is no smoking in rooms or on balconies but what is it like on the rest of the ship? Can the smoking area be easily avoided? Is there any smoking permitted inside the ship?
Thank you for any help.

Thanks, everyone!

Due to time constraints, I cannot take a seven day Caribbean cruise in Spring 2019 but rather am looking to take a four or five day cruise.
For those of you who have tried other cruise lines, which one would you recommend for a Caribbean cruise? I absolutely love HAL, so the closer it is to HAL, the better!
Thanks!

Might vary by where in the world you live, but I know of lots of jos that make six figure incomes
Teachers...
As a teacher, I’d like to know where are these six-figure teaching jobs!

When we were on the Eurodam in June in a balcony cabin, my husband had to plug in an extension cord at the desk and run it over to the bed for his CPAP. I would imagine both people would have to do that.

You’re welcome!

I faxed my doctors note to HAL a week before just in case they had any questions. They did not. We also purchased our beverage packages ahead of time so it would be all set by the time we got on the ship.
I’m sharing my experience because it’s a legitimate medical issue. I was not “getting away” with something. Believe me, I’d love to be able to have the occasional glass of wine!

I did this in June.
My doctor provided a letter stating I cannot consume alcohol due to medical reasons. My husband purchased the Elite package and I purchased the Quench package.

We had the same experience in June. Miss the Eurodam a lot!

Is this a summer issue or year round? We are scheduled for the Romantic Danube Viking cruise November 2019 and I’m starting to get nervous.

I will be on Eurodam to Alaska this month. Am thinking of booking a Retreat Cabana. But I can't tell if it will be enclosed like the Lido cabana's are? Does anyone have experience with cabanas on an Alaska cruise?
There are curtains that can be drawn.

I..I've been told Glacier Bay is a "must see"..Yes or no??
Yes! And it’s why we picked Holland America. Absolutely wonderful time.

One needs alcohol other person doesn't. But both have to be in the same package. BAH
If the person who does not consume alcohol has a note from their doctor stating they must abstain for medical reasons then they do not have to both be on the same package.
-
We have someone that doesn't drink alcohol, her choice, does she need a note?
I was told a doctor’s note is required and that it must be for a medical reason. I did not press it any further as
I have a medical reason.

My husband had the Elite Beverage Package and I did not purchase it. They required a note from my doctor that I do not drink alcohol due to a medical condition. Easy enough.

Just returned from an Alaskan cruise. The highlight was Glacier Bay. I highly recommend a cruise that goes to Glacier Bay. We took Holland America’s Eurodam and loved it.
Best of luck in picking your cruise.

...I am half tempted to cancel some of the (expensive!) excursions just to salvage some of the cost...
I would wait. For example, if the weather is bad enough, your helicopter tour will be canceled. Maybe the weather will be okay!
I think you’re having pre-cruise jitters. I bet you’ll all wind up loving your cruise. Best of luck!

My husband and son had the Elite when we sailed two weeks ago.

In Juneau, we booked an excursion through HAL. It was called, “Discover Alaska’s Whales” and it was fantastic.
You go out on a vessel with a maximum of 20 people and you participate in research. So informative and we saw three whales!

Just returned from my very first cruise and it was to Alaska. Took Holland America’s Eurodam because we wanted to see Glacier Bay. Round trip out of Seattle.
It was truly the trip of a lifetime! I cannot say enough good things about it. We had heard that Holland America skews older but there were plenty of kids and, really, people of all ages.
Do it! You’ll love it!

Thanks, all!
Decided to try something completely different and booked a Viking River Cruise for Thanksgiving 2019. Very excited!
Tux on New Years Eve?

Thanks, all! Husband wore his tux and we had a ball! Most men had on dark suits or sports coats but he was not the only one in a tux.
