  1. I put a similar post up in the Ports of Call, Alaska but no responses thus far. I’m hoping maybe some of you have some information.

I could use some help with recommendations for our time in port. No rental car. We can handle easy to moderate walking and there are seven of us ranging in age from mid-20s to mid-70s.

We all enjoy history and local culture. Not big shoppers but we do enjoy local art and handicrafts.

In Juneau, we’ll have a few hours in the evening to explore. In Sitka, we’ll have four hours in the afternoon and, finally, Ketchikan we’ll have the afternoon and evening.

    Any help is much appreciated.

  2. Almost cruising to Alaska! Very first cruise! I could use some help with recommendations for our time in port. We can handle easy to moderate walking and there are seven of us ranging in age from mid-20s to mid-70s.

  3. We’re leaving soon for our very first cruise. I’m having last minute nerves about two of the excursions we booked. Both are booked through HAL.

First, has any one done the Jet-Cat Wildlife and Beach Exploration out of Sitka?

Second, has any one done the Royal Tea Abkhazi Garden and City Highlights tour in Victoria?

What did you think? Did you do something else you recommend?

  4. We are cruising to Alaska soon. Cannot wait! My question today is about cel phones. We are going to be in port in Victoria, Canada for one day. Do we need to do an international plan for our cel phones? Our provider is AT&T.

  5. We are leaving on our first ever cruise next week. And it’s to Alaska! So excited. I have two questions I’ve not been able to find answers for...

    1. Will we need rain pants? For our excursions, we’re going whale watching on a smaller boat (20 people), going out to an island and going on a floatplane. We have waterproof jackets and shoes.

    2. Our embark time on the first day is 1pm. Will there be any place open to grab a late lunch? We’ll be on the Eurodam.

    Any info is much appreciated!

  6. We booked a flight plane tour through HAL in Alaska and we’re very excited. I have a few questions for those who have done them.

Is there a weight limit per person? I was going to say I’m heavy but what the heck, I’m 300lbs and I’m worried I won’t be allowed to do it

How many people go on the plane? We’re a group of seven so I assume we’ll be on two separate planes?

    Thanks!

  7. Taking our first ever cruise in June! We’ll be on the Eurodam and doing a round-trip to Alaska out of Seattle. Just can’t wait! But I have so many questions....

    1. My husband and son drink alcohol, I do not. The three of us are sharing a cabin. Can I purchase drink packages for them but not for myself?

    2. Speaking of drink packages, do they include specialty coffee or just alcohol?

    3. If I skip the drink packages, is there an advantage to buying the pre-paid cards instead of just paying as we go?

    4. Internet-As I understand it, you buy it on-board. How is the quality? My son and husband like to stream Netflix. Is that possible on-board?

I have so many more questions but that’s enough of your time. Thank you!
