After all these years, finally our first upgrade fairy call today! We sail on Pride from Tampa on Sunday. Left early today to start a mini vacation. Cell phone rings and I see the call is from Florida. Could it be!? Figured it was most likely about a refund issue we have with them right now. Lo and behold, it was the upgrade fairy! We were offered an 8K extended balcony for what a 4D interior stateroom was going for today. We happened to bring an extra $500 Carnival gift card with us so you bet we whipped that out and jumped all over it! So excited, I could not wait to come share our good news!

As avid price drop watchers, all of our bookings have been increasing steadily. Even the ones we are watching right now for Sep 2018 are increasing rapidly making us want to lock in to the lowest price as quickly as possible but we've been waiting for the last few itinerary releases.
-
Sunshine is now showing in Fare Viewer through April 2019, but not on Cruise Search yet.
-
Here is an example of the use of "home port" regarding Carnival Sunshine:
"Following voyages from New York, Charleston and Norfolk, the Carnival Sunshine will return to its home port of Port Canaveral where it will sail eight different Caribbean voyages in the winter of 2016 and spring of 2017."
-
Thanks so much for this discussion! We are waiting on Sunshine's Sep/Oct 2018 itinerary release before making a decision & now the Breeze in Port Canaveral adds another alternative for us to the mix! :)

We'll be dancing with you tomorrow! :D

We always claim those "price drops" & get them as well! :)

If you're subscribed to this thread & didn't see Can'tWait2SetSail's post earlier, the $100 & $500 GC's are currently both available at 6:25 EST.

Both $100 and $500 are available right now.
Thank you! I'd been watching too & was glad to see your post. :)

Which sailing are you on?

Hi, Mishka! I was going to ask the same thing! :D Panama Canal, here we all come!

I received a call yesterday from my "personal vacation planner" at Carnival to tell me she had an "exciting casino offer" which ended up being half deposit down and $50.00 OBC. Turns out it was a "not so exciting offer" and I think she could tell by my response "oh". Since I wasn't going to jump at that offer, I told her we were still planning and she said she would get back to me because Carnival had a sale coming out in January with some great offers. I'm not sure how "great" the offers will be, but thought I would give a heads up to anyone looking to book soon.
Thank you for this heads up! We're considering booking our Fall 2018 cruise onboard Pride next month. Anxious to see what the sales will be then. :)

Love your question! I have actually been thinking about this myself & have enjoyed reading the replies. I'm an avid price-drop watcher & all of the cruises we have booked right now have gone up during the holiday season.

I'm also a ziploc baggy'er for non-prescription meds. Have done it many times over many years & it's never been a problem.
I recently had some Ebags credit/coupons & after Ebates I scored a Lewis N. Clark Day/Night Pill Organizer for almost free. Can't wait to try it out with my morning & night supplements on next month's cruise.

Ditto for Jan 15 sailing. Nothing yet.

Do they still offer Indian vegetarian in the main dining room. I'm not a vegetarian but I love Indian food and I enjoyed the Indian vegetarian choices served at dinner. Going on the Dream in January.
This is one of my favorites too! One of our waiters told us in the dining room at dinner one time that they have it every day for employees so it's an easy option for guests. :) It's one of the things I look forward to every cruise!

I would like to know if there is anyone who also likes liquid coffee creamer flavors and if I packed a plastic bottle liquid on a check in bag would it get to my room....from the port of New Orleans. I absolutely would love to have my creamer with me and don't know how to go about getting it on. HELP
My hubby only likes/uses International Delight French Vanilla liquid coffee creamer. To use at home, he purchases it in the largest size available in the refrigeration section. To use on our cruises, he purchases a box (or 2, depending on the length of our cruise) of the non-refrigerated singles from the coffee aisle. We pack the box(es) of singles in our carry-on & keep an open box on the vanity so he doesn't forget to grab some when going to Lido or the dining room for coffee. He's tried other creamers in various forms for our cruises (last time it was the liquid squirt kind) but it just ruins his enjoyment of his daily coffee fixes. From now on we are making sure to always get what he likes for each trip! :)

Or the next sale?
I used to get casino offers and once a VIP small discount but ( whine, whine) none lately. We did get some from HAL.............where we will sail next. Still Carnival Family.
They pretty much run about monthly. You can actually Google this topic, note the dates of the search results & find the trend! :)

Thank you so much! I was not going to be disappointed either way, but was just curious about what to anticipate. Thank you for sharing this information. Enjoy your cruise!
debwats, I completely understand & feel the same way! :)

The reply has come in regarding our April 14, 2018 Panama Canal Partial Transit cruise & reads as follows:
Good Day,
Thank you for contacting Carnival Cruise Line. We have received your e-mail message and appreciate the opportunity to be of assistance.
There will be no stopover and no oportunity to go ashore as entire time you will spend on the ship.
If there is anything else we can do for you please do not hesitate to ask.
Best Regards,
Tour Operations
Carnival Cruise Line
Glad to share this information & we are wishing everyone a wonderful journey as we're sure looking forward to ours! :)

We are booked for the April 14, 2018 partial transit & I actually have an email sent to shore excursions asking this very question. Will we be able to go ashore, book excursions, etc. or is the entire time in Panama spent on the ship? I'll subscribe to this thread & post when I hear a reply. :)
-
We always Google "Carnival (ship name) Deck Plan PDF" to scope out the layout of each ship. We note the location of any possible secret decks & where we will spend the majority of our time, as well as stair locations in relation to these. Then we choose a deck that is buffered with staterooms above/below & a stateroom that is surrounded by staterooms for only 2 people. We've found that this system works well for us. You can turn the TV on to the bow cam at night before going to sleep to wake up to the sunrise. :)

That is a sweet spot to be in. Me too. The years just before retirement tend to be the highest earning years with fewer responsibilities and more financial security. It's time to enjoy some hard-earned time off! Hope yours are great.
Thank you so much! Congrats & best wishes to you as well! :)

Our 12-month total: 6 Carnival cruise days (Ecstasy, Sep 2016).
That was just the beginning of “Our Cruise Years” (the years between our empty nest & retirement!). From here we’re booked/booking approx 23+ days per year. :)
-
I'm able to view rates of our booked cruises via Fare Viewer, but I have been trying all day to book another for January 2018 via "Plan > Book a Cruise" & the cruise choices won't load.
First Upgrade Fairy Call Ever!
in Carnival Cruise Lines
Posted
Obviously I'm still a "newbie" here (or ditzy...or both! Haha!). Yes, a call from the "upsell fairy" it was! :)
We moved from a 4D interior to the 8K extended balcony for $300 more.
See you fellow Pride cruisers tomorrow!
