  1. We are trying to figure out what to do while in Bermuda. We would like to have some beach time. Can anyone tell me if there is a time that the beaches close? Thank you in advance.

  2. I wish some one had told us that the cruise line supplies towels for island activities. As others said, don't over pack. Bring a highlighter to mark the things you want to do on your dailies. Have your swimsuit and a possible change of clothes with you when you board just in case your luggage does not make it. Make sure you are back to the ship at least an hour before you leave port. And most important of all go with the flow and enjoy your first cruise. I am going to guess that it won't be your last. My husband (the smarty pants) says he wishes he knew back in 1994 that there really wasn't a shortage of Tanzanite.

  3. Great info thanks. Sounded very honest and true.

Loved your idea of a handicap elevator. I went on a cruise (RCCL) 2 years ago with a broken foot and I was amazed at how rude people were. I was on a knee scooter and people who push and crowd me to ride one floor.

OH I so wanted to tell them I would give anything to walk up one flight of stairs. My kids and DH would take the stairs and and the usually beat me.

When we sailed the Jewel a couple years ago there was nine of us sailing together. Every time we had to go up or down decks I would take the stairs and the rest of the family would take the elevator. I beat them every single time. I think the wait for elevators is something that happens on all cruise ships. At least every ship I have been on. The best part is I only gained one pound on that cruise and I ate everything I wanted.

  4. We prefer assigned seating as that's the best way to meet people. We love the service on Celebrity but the price difference with NCL is astounding. We can get a mini-suite for less than the cost of a regular cabin on Celebrity. What is select dining and what package are you referring to? Thanks.

I understand what you are saying as that is one of the things I missed the most on our 1st NCL cruise. But you can meet some wonderful people by joining or setting up a meet and greet.

  5. I have not seen the Broadway version. I have only see the pg-13 rated Movie. Does the ships version follow the movie? I'm just trying to understand the suggestion that it's not for kids. Based on the knowledge I have of Rock the Ages I am having a hard time telling my kids they will not be able to attend. I would love to hear what you all have to say regarding it. Thank you.

  6. I did mean through NCL. Thanks everyone for your help. I called NCL before we got a response here. I got a quote of 878.00 for a family of four for one night. We stayed at the same hotel three years ago for 210.00 for a family of four for one night. That is not a good deal at all.

  7. O'Sheehan's

We liked O'Sheehan's - great spot. It has two sides - the bar side has a very limited menu, but there are more options on the restaurant side. DH liked the corned beef sandwich and had that a couple times. I liked the chicken pot pie, but I think it's been slightly over-hyped around here. Mozzarella sticks were good, but the wings were hit or miss. The first evening, we had some great wings there - but when I ordered them again later in the week, the meat was very funky, fatty and stringy. Gross. We didn't like the spinach artichoke dip, either - I read a review that said it was runny and that was the case for ours as well, so I would say skip it unless you want it soupy. DH had a milkshake there and we tried a couple of the frozen drinks on their menu, but with the exception of the mudslide, everything needed some more flavor. We didn't try O'Sheehan's for breakfast, but we ended up there a couple times for lunch because it's the only place to eat if you want a late lunch.

I have heard they have added more drink options there, mostly juice and lemon aid. Did you happen to notice this? Thank you in advance.

  8. Get yourself an inexpensive over the door shoe holder. We got ours at Walmart for 8 or 9 dollars. It has 10 or 12 clear pockets. We put it on the back of the door to the bathroom and put all the little stuff in it. Meds, nail clippers, small notepads with pens and highlighters (for the dailies), eye glass cleaner, receipts, tape and so on. It kept the rest of the cabin and bathroom from all the little clutter. I will never cruise without one again.

  9. On our last cruise in Sept 2011 on the Jewel there was a lunch special (I'm sorry, I can't remember the name of it) that we purchased. You basically got a taste of all the specially restaurants. It was nice. Does anyone know if they have something like this on the Breakaway? Thank you in advance.

  10. NCL Jewel Bahamas & Florida 2011 - Bread Pudding, fruit crepes, creme brûlée, heck I think I liked them all. We only take a big vacation once a year (if we are lucky) so I eat it all. Everything I want but I take the stairs everywhere. I never ride on an elevator. I only gained two pounds on the last cruise.

  11. We originally had a large balcony cabin. We were going to get spa passes for the week. Crunched the numbers and it was cheaper to upgrade to a spa balcony. Smaller balcony but we get the spa perks. We did get one of the bump cabin balconies 14750 so we have a slightly bigger than standard balcony

Can you please explain how the "bump" cabin balconies are bigger than a regular balcony? Thank you!

  12. We have always planed out a a cruise vacation a year plus in advance. I would like to know more information on last minute cruising. And I do mean last minute. Only a day or two before the cruise is set to leave. I know we will be giving up choices as to where our cabin would be and we are ok with that if we can get a great deal. I have checked the last few weeks for last minute cruises and the best I can find is booking two weeks out. Can anyone give me some help regarding booking last minute. Thank you in advance.

  13. Hi Jo Anne-I totally agree about the stingrays, one of the coolest things I've ever done too. Did you kiss one? It's supposed to be 7 years og good luck kissing a stingray.

You should consider doing a snorkel with turtles (we did this in Barbados) & a swim with dolphins (we did this in Curacao) both were also incredible adventures on par with Stingray City. If you get the chance & have the resources I highly reccomend doing both!

Ain't snorkeling in the ocean grand? :)

I have swam with dolphins at Discovery Cove. We just happened to be there on 9/11 except we didn't know what happened until 5:00pm when we left. Swimming with the dolphing was awesome too.

I would love to swim with turtles! Someday!
