Google Bermuda Web Cam ( it will knock you off for some reason after about 30 seconds. Then just go back on and you'll be all set). You'll be able to see the trolley traveling from the Dockyard to Heritage and King'sWharves and back again. Also, whatever ships are in port will be in view.

    Thanks!!

Saddens me to hear this! I too am easy to please, but I was sort of expecting a much upgraded experience as I had paid a much higher price than someone in a balcony. I *almost* asked for some M&Ms and some gummies, thought better of it when I didn't get any corn nuts after day 2. And in the Horizon Lounge, those snacks were taken at 5pm sharp, like if you don't get me munchies in my room and then you can't even keep them in the Horizon Lounge after 5?  Sort of crazy if you ask me. There were people folding towels late into the nigh that could have kept that snack bar open 24/7.

Also disappointed that you had a similar experience with passengers. I was hoping it was just my cruise. Once while talking to some people at the bar, they asked me if I had kids. I said "no, just my two dogs" and then they were like "Oh well are you gonna have kids" and I replied "probably not" and then they went into this huge spiel about why I needed to have kids and how much I was missing out and blah blah blah. I was like "Well I enjoy a fair amount of freedom and it just isn't for me" and they were like "Well you will change your mind." Doubtful HAHA! I just couldn't believe the audacity, although I do experience this TOO MUCH. They also asked if I was "Only going to sail in the Haven from now on" and I was like "No, I'd have to get a second job haha" and then went on and on about "how poor people and how that if people just set their mind to it, they too could afford to go in the Haven every single time" And after that I didn't attempt any more cordial conversations in the Haven. I am sure there was some nice people but was pretty soured by that. I am sure the bartenders had a laugh in the back.

Side Note: Snack buffet in the Garden Cafe was AMAZING, huge selection for  snacks after 9pm.  I'm not expecting to have the same selection in Horizon Lounge but there should be SOMETHING, do they think we do not stay up late and drink LOL. Also i felt like the bar closed really early. And I know, the crew needs to sleep too but cmon, we need late night munchies.

So sorry to hear this! I am on the Joy in a Haven cabin in July with my 2 BFFs and we would have loved to hang with you. If I meet folks like that my eyes will be rolling and hopefully I will be polite but who knows. Glad you had a nice trip.

  3. Hi my husband would like to do some side mount dives, I have not seen any threads about diving so far. Does anyone have any recommendations on dive tours? This would be for October 2022. Thanks.

  4. Awesome, thanks so much. If you happen to think of it and have the time, I would love to hear about your experience and how it went when you get back (where you actually got the tickets, how you got there, what you paid, etc.).

    Have an AMAZING time!!

Hi! Okay, so Partagas Factory does not have a store, but you can go to the Romeo y Julieta cigar store about a block before the Partagas Factory. Are you talking a tour? Your tour guide should know where to take you. It was MOBBED. Rum and cigars. They may try to sell you cigars cheaper out of box in plastic bags, we said yes to this to get more cigars. We watched them, they just took the cigars out of box and into plastic bags and sealed in right in front of us.

Partagas ticket is $10 but we didn't even buy tickets, our tour guide just called a friend who works and he took us inside and gave us a private tour, so I paid him the $20. Can't bring a bag or camera, so make sure you carry your passport/cash and lock up your bag or leave with your guide. Good tour, lots of stairs up and down. About 35 mins or so. Interesting tour - sad to hear how the workers make so little and work so hard.

  5. I have sailed on Carnival twice when my son was 5 and 6 and have sailed NCL to Alaska in August of 2016 and then a Caribbean cruise last summer. We are taking a Cuba cruise next week. Here's my opinion on NCL Alaska cruise.

We loved it. We sailed the Sun in mid August. There were very few children on the ship, plus my son was 13 at the time and while he liked hanging out at the teen camp at night for like an hour that was about it. On the sea days he hung out with me and we did ship activities. The Sun is small and older and we picked it for that reason, it was easy for us to navigate and get around. The Sun now does the caribbean route so not sure what ship you are looking at or what time frame you are thinking of going.

The majority of people were older - I would think prime ages 50-70, with a few 30-40s. Having said that, we had an awesome time. The staff were awesome, very friendly. The food was fabulous, we had the specialty dining program and it was so worth it. We are also very laid back and we saw a few shows on board but to us the destination was the prime attraction. We were out all day at every port doing everything that we could do and it was fabulous. Definitely do your research on excursions, here and on TA. The balcony is a must. Bring binoculars!

I think if you pick the right excursions your kids will have a blast!

  6. Just checking to see if you and your husband visited the factory? Any tips you can share would be greatly appreciated! My husband is also a fan and we hope to do this in July before our afternoon tour.

We cruise next week but from what I have been researching you buy the tickets at the Saratoga Hotel (possibly other hotels as well) but the tours are only from 9-1pm so you want to go as soon as you get to Havana to get the tickets. There is a store there in the factory, bottom floor around the corner from what I have read. You can also buy legit cigars at any LCDH.

  7. We are doing our first NCL cruise in 12 days (cannot wait!), and are going to the Meet and Greet, where there will be a gift exchange with the concept being gadgets, etc., that would be useful on a cruise. Having never done this before, does anyone have any suggestions for me as far as gifts are concerned? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, useful gadgets on a cruise. I'm thinking straws, lanyards, travel size items, oh how about a flashlight?

We usually do items that represent your state!

  8. I arrange Meet N Greets because I like that I get to meet a lot of other passengers and the crew on a smaller basis.

I have arranged 5. I do not expect to receive any VIP treatment for it. It is nice when I do but that is not why I do it.

On my last Epic sailing 6/3/18 I had about 65 sign up and about 30 people show. I did not receive any perks for arranging this Meet N Greet but I am still happy I did it. I met some wonderful people and we had a great time chatting prior to the cruise.

I would hope most people that arrange them are genuinely interested in the concept of getting together after having "talked" on cruise critic.

    Patti

I totally agree. I love meeting new people! This will be my 3rd M&G and I always enjoy spending sea days with fellow CC'ers! Still friends with many of them as well, it really does help make our vacations enjoyable!

  9. Is the $50 Specialty Dining "perk" something new? Normally the Specialty Dining "perk" is for a specific number of meals with no cost/value stated.

Booking before you board is very common.

It's one of the new perks on the shorter Cuba cruises, $50 excursion credit, $50 food credit, open bar.

  10. Thanks for the info. One more question....how did you arrange it with the casino ahead of time?

Wouldn't I need to be able to post the day and time on the message boards before the cruise?

I like to have reminders printed with the activities scheduled to pass out at the M&G.

I've tried in the past to pre arrange it but was never successful. I would go to the Casino customer service or manager once you board and tell him what time you are planning on being there for the slot pull. Of course I've only had at most 15 people participating so I just ran it myself and they gave us a couple bottles of wine.

  11. Send me an email at casofilia at xtra dot co dot nz and I will send you a copy of one I have used very successfully especially with a small number (<40) people.

Hi I tried to send you an email but keeps bouncing back! Thanks anyway!

  12. Good to know! We have Bill in two weeks!

You will like Bill, I had him this week.. Tell him the crazy cat lady from NC said Hi, I suspect he will know who you mean :)

Just FYI he is also an air traffic controller for his regular job, His Engish is excellent and his knowledge of the history of Cuba is really good.

Don't get to the meeting place super early, they won't be there until 10 minutes or so before the meeting time holding up a big sign with your name.

The car you will be in, if you have the same driver, is a 1956 in perfect condition.

    Have a good time!!

    Alana

Hi Alana! Good to know, thank you!

  13. I agree, I had Bill and a driver... Excellent English, knew the history like crazy and took me where I wanted to go. Was a nice day. :)
