Unfortunately they have raised their annual fee to $550 which is pretty steep even with the $300 travel credit.

Yes, Chase raised the fee, but the difference is likely made up on the savings from not needing to  buy travel insurance.

For us, that and the travel credit make it worth while.

Your speed will depend on where you are sailing and which package you buy from X.

We were in the Caribbean in October and had great internet but when we were in Iceland in June, it was horrid. Not worth logging on. It's all about satellite positioning. So the closer your cruise is to the equator, the better you will do.

X has two packages you can buy. One is for streaming and one for e-mail and simple web surfing. Guess which one costs more?😃

As to using your phone in ports, the best advice I can give you is check with your cell carrier. Each one has different rules. For instance, we have T-Mobile and we have free data and 25¢ a minute phone calls in all but six countries in the world (and those are places we would never go like Yemen) so we never worry about it. We used to have AT&T and they would charge us for every country or require that we buy their international plan for a limited amount of bandwidth.

Both previous posters are correct. When on the ship, put your phone on airplane mode and then turn WiFi back on (if you have a package).

That's great information - I wasn't aware of the issue with satellite positioning. Thanks very much

Yes, we're booked on "The Great Frontier Expedition Cruisetour 8B," which is the southbound adventure that includes six days of land tour beginning on Aug 7 in Fairbanks, working our way down to Seward where the cruise begins on Aug 13.  We picked this one because it has three rail legs, and because hubby wants to tour first and cruise second.  I may not be able to answer many questions though... we've been to Alaska twice previously on another cruise line, but they were both 7-day cruises with no land tour.

Sunset Point - hope you'll do a review of your trip. We're in the talking stages on the same itinerary for 2021. Travel safely and thanks.

We cruise mostly Celebrity and sometimes RC.   Earlier with our kids it was RC only 7-day Caribbean. Now as early retirees, we come back to Celebrity for all of the reasons mentioned by Spif and for the more interesting, longer, more global itineraries with an excellent suite experience and quieter atmosphere than RC.  The Celebrity ships are well maintained overall and the service is generally excellent.

Just echoing TeeRick's comments - we keep coming back to Celebrity for longer itineraries to places we have never been before, That and the suite experience (albeit at higher prices these days), have kept our loyalty over the years.
