The burgers taste the same to me. They don't have as many toppings at the toppings bar.  The fries are different which has a lot of people upset, but I think the new fries are better.

Did they still have the mushrooms?

  3. Hi All.  We hav ejust booked an NCL cruise and one of the item in our offer was "Prepaid Service Chages"

But on our detailed invoice, we are still being charges for Drink Package & Specialty Dining, as well as Gratuities?

So..... what is it that is being "Prepaid"?  I guess if you want to argue the point, technically EVERYTHING is pretty much prepaid before you sail.

Are they using special terminology to trick the guest?  Prepaid, Included, Free.....  seems somewhat misleading and unnecessarily confusing.

We have asked our TA to explain, but wondered if you all have experienced the same thing?

    Thanks.

  4. Thanks Biker19.

I will do some Google work.  I am sure I can find some sort of info on what is currently offered.

As mentioned, I just want to get a feel for what's available now.

It will probably be similar when we sail, other than the price.

I always at least get the Soda Package.  But the refreshment packages looks tempting....

Not sure I would drink enough alcohol to justify the full blown drink package, but it's something I'd consider.

  5. Hi Merion_Mom.

Thank You !   No wonder I couldn't find it on the main web site page.

I went into my cruise planner and selected "All Drink Packages" and it said "Sorry, we cannot reserve this right now".

I am thinking it's too far out.  We don't depart until April of 2021.

I was hoping to start researching things now to get a better idea of what's available.

I realize prices will change, but I'd like to know what's included in each package and the prices at this time.

    Thanks again.

  6. Hi All.

We are doing a cruise aboard the Ovation and I wanted to look at all the Drink Package options available, along with pricing.

I'm interested in the "Refreshment Package" and "Soda Package" as well.

I have been unable to find the info on the RCI web site.

Can anyone please tell me where to look to find that info?

    Thank You.    :.)

  7. We are booked for a 2 week Asian cruise in 2021 and after reading the many reviews here and elsewhere, we are considering cancelling it.

I too, am under the impression of more complaints than not, about the Ovation.

One area of particular concern is the quality of food.  I am left with the feeling that several food venues purchase their food from a "7-11" commissary and that it is not hot, nor satisfying.  I don't want to spend two weeks on the Ovation eating Hot Dogs.

Please reassure me that there IS a good selection of foods served aboard.... AND that they are of decent quality.

I am not expecting 5 star foods, but something a little better than Carnival Line.

Thanks to all for their reviews and opinions.

  8. We packed a couple our own insulated mugs and the bartenders didn't blink when we asked them to fill them up since we had the soda package. Probably less work for them in the long run. To help us, we tried to go to the same bartender and dropped him a couple of bucks each time.

  9. I originally booked back in December 2016. No OBC at that time. There was a sale last week - May 14 &15 It was also a cabin OBC of $250.00. There were different OBC sales depending on the cruise. Our rate went up with the sale of $15/pp or $30.00, and give up the $100.00 OBC (from prior sale), so it was a saving of $120.00. I have never had an OBC of $250.00. I went on a Journey's Cruise in March 2016 and never got a price reduction (booked 18 months out), nor got any OBC. It all depends on what Carnival is trying to do and how much the ship is selling out.

    Wow... good deal Pat.

    Thanks for the info !

  10. You should be okay since the Pride doesn't go into dry dock until Feb/2019. They should still be French Doors. All the 4K are sold out at this time, so there is no description. For some reason they are trying to get this sailing sold out long before we even get to final payment. The OBC were crazy and the prices were falling everyday.

I haven't seen anything from John Heald, but I am sure others have.

    Hi Pat.

What type of OBC did you get with your booking?

We only got a $50 OBC for the Cabin, not per person.

I thought that was kind of low considering on our last Journey's cruise we received $100 PP.

    Thanks.

  11. I drank Scotch & Waters on the Pride and I don't think they shorted me on the shot.... but I can tell you that it is NO MORE than a shot.

In most shore side bars, you get that little extra when they tip the shot into your glass with the bottle still pouring just a little.

They make sure they don't give you a drop more than what fits in that shot glass.

It's still a full drink you pay for, just not anything more. That's OK, as long as I don't get less than I paid for.

  12. We are booked in a 4K on the Nov. 4th Journeys cruise on the Pride too. We did a Journeys cruise on the Pride in Jan. 2017 and were in a 4K cabin as well. It was nice to have the Full glass so you could see daylight and a little bit of a view.

But we never did open the door for fresh air. There WAS an upcharge for the 4K cabin.

On the Nov.4th cruise, we recvd an email offering an "upgrade" to a balcony for $400. Initially, we decided not to spend the extra money, but a day later we were considering it a little more seriously, but the offer had already been withdrawn.

I think we'll still have a great time on the cruise, with or without a functional door or balcony.

I wonder how John Heald feels about the change? What did he say about it?
