  1. deircuz,

We were in 4130 on the Jan. 2nd sailing and it was a pretty quiet cabin.

I did not hear any noise from above nor below.

We did, however, we did hear a LOT of cabin door banging from the cabins adjacent to us.

We tried to be mindful of slowly closing our cabin door when we entered or left, especially when we realized how loud the noise could be.

Other than that, we liked that cabin.

"Arty" was our cabin steward and did a fine job. Always kept ice in the bucket !

    Have fun.....

  2. We sailed on the Mardi Gras in 1978, 7 days out of Baltimore to Bermuda.

Someone else recalled the Captain was Vittorio Fabietti, and the Cruise Director was Greg Fucci (who was also the star singer/entertainer).

Mr. Fucci, sadly, passed away last July.

Captain Fabietti passed away in 2005.

    Both were super nice men.

  3. Buy the $5 a day Social Wifi plan on the boat. It's cheaper if you buy it for the whole cruise, but I bought it only on Sea days. Worked great and I used Facebook Messenger to video chat home.

Do not think about turning Airplane Mode off on a Cruise Ship :)

Yes, I think that is what we will end up doing.

Seems to be the cheapest thing to do in order to communicate with the kids back home.

    Thanks.

  4. Hi. I was under the impression that I could buy the $10/day "TravelPass" from Verizon and use my normal data/minutes/text package while on the cruise.

I just spoke to a Verizon Rep who said that only applies while I am ashore in the various countries. He suggested I get the "Pay as you go" package.

I thought the Pride had a Verizon tower on board that I would be using, even while at sea?

It's pretty confusing.... I don't know what type of cell phone package will work and which one is best for me ?

Anyone with some recent first hand knowledge on the Verizon plans and the Pride?

    Thanks @

  5. Just off the Pride 8/28. We had room 4130 and the door definitely opens. I had to give it a pretty good tug, but it def. opened. I have previously had balconies and thought I would also save a few bucks by getting this room. We did not use the doors like I thought I would and totally REGRET NOT HAVING A BALCONY!! We also had room 4132 (spaced between the two life boats). 4132 had a better view then 4130 but I did not try and open that door.

    Hi Jami.

We're booked on the Jan 2nd. sailing and have been assigned Cabin 4130.

So just how decent was the view form 4130?

Could you see the water ?

And did you hear any noise from the Ivory Piano Bar below ?

    Thanks, Tim

  6. When you go to your cruise manager, click on my cruise details. On the left side of the page it should have your booking number, ship, number of guests, bedding then dining time. That is where I can hit the edit button.

There is an edit button, but it only take me to the edit of the On-Line check-in, with no options for dining.

  7. Thabnk you both for the quick response.

I guess I'll wait until a week before departure to orde the package.

No sense letting them have my money for 5 months in advance.

I guess there is a danger they will increase the price.

What happens if you buy the package now, and want to cancel it later? Is that possible ?

  8. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong :), but I think that if you used a TA you cannot make changes to your booking on the Cruise Manager. All changes will have to go through your TA, including dining times.

Thanks... that would explain why I have no option to change it thru my cruise portal.

We're not sailing until the first of the year. It's hard to believe that the anytime dining option is full, but so far, we are on a wait list.

I hopr we end up getting it before we sail.

    Regards.

  9. Hi All. I plan to order the Bottomless Bubbles soda package.

I have set up my onboard account with my credit card.

When is my credit card charged for item I order thru my onboard account.

If I order the soda package today, will it just be added to my account and paid at the end of the cruise? Or will the charge go thru on my credit card right away ?

    Thanks.

  10. Hi All.

We are booked on a cruise on the Pride. When we booked the TA sent us a confirmation email and showed as "wait-listed" for anytime dining.

But when I went online under "Manage" my cruise, the only place that is shown is on the booking info.

Is the dining time option something that is only made when you make the booking or is there a spot somewhere that offers you the choices for dining times that I cannot find ?

    Thanks !

  11. Barbluvstocruz,

Thank you very much for posting the daily's. That helps get a feel for what goes on the shjip.

I see they offer daily "Drink Specials". Are they usually at a reduced price, or do they just call them "Specials" since they are a featured drink ?

    Thanks, Tim

  12. It's been a couple of years since we did our cruise on the Insignia, but at dinner we saw people dressed in all fashions EXCEPT slovenly.

The men wore nice, but comfortable, garb such as Polo shirts and slacks at the very least.

I seem to recall that a slight majority of men wore a sport coat and dress slacks, some wore ties and some did not. I never saw a pair of jeans at Dinner. But breakfast and lunch were open season for shorts and jeans.

I wore a nice dress shirt (tucked in) and slacks some evenings but mostly wore a sport coat with no tie and dress slacks.

Women always looked elegant to me, either in a pants suit, cocktail dress and sometimes they wore gowns. It's all in what you want.

  13. We did an Alaska Cruise on the NCL "Spirit" years ago and I think NCL is head and shoulders above the Carnival Ships.

So at least it may not sink down to the Carnival at level.....

Heck.. it may not degrade at all. Perhaps NCL wanted to own this particular niche cruising market.

The food on the Spirit was good... but absolutely nothing even close to what we had on our 14 day Med cruise on the Insignia.

We still have a North Europe cruise on our bucket list and hope "O" doesn't turn to the dark side before we get a chance to go.

I suspect some of the things that may disappear are the included water & soda and the ability to bring aboard your own libations.
