  1. I also found more of a hard sell technique onboard NCL ships. They really push the buy buy buy. The first day it is tough to even find a lounge without them selling something in it. There were some aggressive selling on some Ncl ships I've been on. Otherwise, dining area refused shirts unlike Carnival. RCCL has more relaxing areas and more activities. NCL has more parties. Carnival I thought had better food but I dislike the dancing in the tables at dinner. IMHO.

    Topless dining??? [emoji15]

  2. My wife drinks mucho water and we just bought a 24 pack at Walgreens and slapped a luggage tag on it and bam, it was in our stateroom. I think the water was $8 (which is still ridiculous) and we tipped the luggage handler $1 for that item in addition to our overall bags tip. Anyway, we drink the free water throughout the ship too but the bottle is an easy, non-spillable option for the nightstand each night.

Thank you! Yes. I like having water readily available in my room, and I always take one with me ashore.

  3. We have a party of five split between two bookings. I made reservations for six in some of the free dining rooms under my booking. Will this suffice for all of us or do the people on the other booking need to make a reservation too? And how does it work, that we made a reservation for six but only have five? Will we simply have an extra seat at our table?

  4. I've never cruised Norwegian before...and I've never cruised with a smartphone. On Carnival and Royal Caribbean, you can keep your phone on and exchange texts with people ashore for just 50 cents for outgoing texts, and free incoming. Is this the case with Norwegian as well? Also...I have a smartphone 6 and I'm not tech savvy. How would I configure my phone to be able to send and receive texts without risking outlandish data charges or what have you?

  5. I'll be cruising out of Miami next month, but staying in Fort Lauderdale post cruise. I need to find a way to get to the airport in Fort Lauderdale to pick up a rental car, but every shuttle service I come across charges more than I can really afford to pay. Does anyone know of any good companies or cost effective ways to make the trek?

Alternatively, I'm toying with the idea of doing Norwegian's Everglades shore excursion that picks you up at the port and drops you at the airport after the tour...but it too is rather pricey. Are there any good companies outside of the cruise line that will offer the same service and be able to store our luggage?

  6. Many would consider Cove balconies superior to balconies on deck 6-8, I certainly would.

Agreed - that's an "upgrade" I wouldn't take. The Coves are delightfully close to the water...and the standard balconies on that ship offer a delightfully disappointing view of the open lanai deck below. Just loved getting to look at a hot tub instead of the ocean...

  7. Harmony will also have single occupancy cabins. However, as a veteran of over 50 single cruises I can honestly say you don't need to restrict your sailing to those ships. In fact, I often am able to book double occupancy cabins for less than I would pay for single occupancy when they are available.

    Please tell me how!

  8. I see on Delta's website that they allow each passenger to have a carry-on and a personal item, to include purses, laptops, and camera bags. Do they have size restrictions as far as what can be considered a personal item? My camera bag is rather large and I'm afraid that if I try to carry it on as my personal item, in addition to a rolling suitcase, they're going to say, "Uh-uh, sorry, gotta check your suitcase."
