  1. Hi everyone,

Did you all had to bring a printed copy of your passport for all the ports?  I know Celebrity will keep our passport until the end of the cruise.

My travel agent gave me information that states "Bring your passport, a photo of the ID page on your phone, and one printed copy per port visited."
Does this mean I need to bring with me 7 printed copies of my passport since we will be visiting 7 ports?

    Thanks for the assistance.
  2. Thank you upwarduck.  Many years ago I bought the MacBook Air with my OBC.

I have a family of 6 going and so there's 3 separate cabin bookings, with $400 OBC per cabin.  I hope Celebrity will let me use all three separate OBC for the purchase of the MacBook Air.

  3. I'm about to apply for my Vietnam e-visa.

What did you put on the line "Agency/Organization/Individual that the applicant plans to contact when enter into Viet Nam".?

Can I skip it and put nothing?  or put "Not applicable" or do I put my Celebrity Solstice ship info?

    Please kindly assistance.  Thank you.

  4. Hello everyone,

I will be on the Solstice in March and wanted to know what Apple products are available on the ship that you can purchase.  I have some onboard credit and wanted to see if I can purchase something while on the ship.

If anyone has checked out the iLounge store recently, please kindly let me know what items you noticed.

    Thank you for any information.

  5. Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out transfer for my family of 6 adults (with 2 elderly parents) from Kai Tak cruise terminal in Hong Kong to our hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui area of Kowloon on March 15, 2024.

Our ship will dock there at 6:00 am, so I assume we will need to get off the ship by 8:30 am at the latest?  We will need to go through immigration afterwards before heading out to our transport.

I've heard that taxis are not adequate (hopefully this is still not the case) at this cruise terminal, so I'm trying to arrange a private transfer.  However, I'm not sure what time to inform them to pick us up.

Does anyone know roughly what time I should book my transfer?  Would 9:30 am be about right?

If anyone has disembarked from Kai Tak cruise terminal in the last 6 months, please kindly let me know what your experience was at this terminal.

    Thanks for any assistance.

  6. Hello all,

My family and I will be arriving in Singapore on embarkation day (March 3, 2024).  Our flight lands at 8:30 am and our Celebrity Solstice will depart Singapore at 5:00 pm.

I plan to book a van with driver using Kler Transportation Services https://klertransport.com/ to pick us up at the airport and then take us around the city before dropping off at the MBCC port.  Because my family has not visited Singapore before, I want to maximize the most time possible to see some of the main attractions.  Our group of 6 includes 2 elderly mothers that can not walk too much so I plan on doing quick photo stops instead of spending much time at those attractions.

I will email Celebrity to see if they can provide answers, but in the meantime, I'll post this question here.  Assuming we clear airport customs by 9:30 at the latest, is it a sound suggestion to book a 5 hour transfer/tour, with us being dropped off at the port by 2:30-3:00 pm?  Or should I play it safe and be at the terminal by 2:00pm?

Any thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

  7. I did book with the company directly and I had a group of 14.  If you can go through cruisecritic.com roll call for your cruise, I don't think you would have a problem forming a group.   I was able to adjust the sightseeing a bit to have more time at the Troll's Road.

We paid by credit card (or cash if you wish)  on the bus when we got back to the ship.

The owner and driver have been in the business for many years but decided to purchase his own van (right before Covid).

If I was to return to Alesund, I would definitely book with him again.

  8. I've recently returned from our NCL cruise and used Royal Tur Reiser for my private tour to the Trolls Road from Alesund.  I had used Norway Excursions previously but they didn't offer a private on the date that I needed.

Rolf, the owner and driver, was very prompt in answering my emails . He has a brand new vehicle than can seat 16 people.  We paid on the day of the tour with the credit card after our tour. He was waiting for us at the port and promptly took us on the Trolls to Fjords route to the famous Trollstigen road.  I had a group of 16 people and had a wonderful time.

I highly recommend him highly.  If anyone is interested, his website is https://royalturreiser.no/.  His tours are also available on Viator.

  9. Thank you Turtles06 for the link to a previous review.

Unfortunately, our time in Alesund is only 8 hours and it will be a Sunday when we are there.  Doing the private tour to Troll's Road is our preferred choice.  We're hoping to have enough time at the end of the tour to visit Mt. Aksla viewpoint before going to the ship.

    Thank you for your assistance.

  10. Hi everyone,

I'm planning a private tour from Alesund to Troll's Road using Norway Excursions.  https://www.norwayexcursions.com/en/activity/169624/alesund-private-from-fjords-to-trolls

I was wondering if anyone has done this and can provide tips on best use of our time.  If there were stops that seemed too short and could use more time, I would like to have that information to see if we can adjust our schedule at other stops to allow this.

Any information or tips would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

  11. Hello everyone,

I'm contemplating of doing the Azamara Dec. 12, 2020 cruise starting and ending in Cape Town.  Our ports of call are Port Elizabeth, Richard's Bay, Durban and East London.  We have 2 full days in Cape Town while on the ship at the end of the voyage.

This will be our first visit in Africa so we would like to do a few safaris while visiting these ports and would like to add Victoria Falls at the beginning or end of the cruise.

Is December not an ideal time to visit this area?  There are only cruises in December so we don't have any options for another time of the year.

Any one has insight into this?  We don't want to waste our money on a cruise if the timing is not good for safaris during this time.

    Thanks for any help.

  12. I'm thinking of also doing the cruise to Gudvangen from Flam and bus back or bus the other way in addition to the train. If the crowds are worse in the morning, it might be better for us to do the cruise first and then train in the afternoon. However, I would think that the weather in Naeroyfjord would be more prone to fog and overcast if doing it in the morning.

What are the chances of the cruise being sold out if we wait until we get there? I'm thinking if the weather is not ideal, we can skip the cruise. I would not want to commit to it before arrival if there's little chance of not be able to get tickets on the day of arrival.

I would also need to figure out how much time would be needed to pick up my group booking tickets before the ride.

Assuming the schedule is the same as 2018, I'm leaning towards doing the 9:45 am train (our ship arrival is 8:30 am), finishing the round trip ride at 11:55am. Take the boat tour at 1:30pm, arriving at Gudvangen at 3:30pm. Then take the 3:30pm bus back to Flam.

Doing it this way would allow us not to rush picking up the tickets prior to getting on the train. Also, this would give us 1 1/2 hour in Flam to look around, perhaps visiting the Flamsbana Museum or getting a quick bite to eat before the cruise.

Any thoughts or suggestion for my schedule?

  13. Thank you hallasm for the video.

Do you think it's better to book a later train ride for better weather?

We'll be visiting on June 17th and our ship's time here is from 8:30am -5:30pm. Our ship is scheduled to dock and not tendered. According to the 2018 schedule, the train departures are: 8:35, 9:45, 11:05, 12:20pm, 1:35pm and 2:50pm. There are other times but none will fit into our schedule.
