  1. I will be sailing about 1 month after finishing up my chemo treatments, So of course I will still be bald headed :p!!!

I usually wear a wig to work or formal occasions but other wise I wear a turban wrap, scarf or cap ..... I guess going to the beach I would wear a floppy beach hat!

My question is about getting the Seapass card photo done and then getting back on the ship after getting off for the day. Are they going to require me to remove my turban or scarf? Model my bald head in front of everyone? I know if I wear my wig nothing would probably be said but I'm not really fond of the ideal of wearing my wig to the beach! anyone have any thoughts on this subject?

I can not answer your question, but wanted to say congrats on your last chemo treatment! I also just wanted to put my 2 cents in on a view of someone one that don't know what it is like to go through chemo or lose their hair because of it (family members have, but not me personally). My view to answer your question is this:

Unless you are in the sun or "want to dress up a little for dinner" I say screw the hat, the turban or scarf!!!! You have been through the battle of your life...you SURVIVOR!!! Stand proud that you have went to hell and back and are telling the tail of it....You are a special person and if others don't want to see you without a hat or such let them go sit in their rooms and pout about it! You deserve this cruise after everything you have been through!!!!!

I hope you have fun....enjoy yourself...and good luck in keep kicking cancer where the sun don't shine! Much love and respect for you!

  2. I am going to be taking my beloved boys ages 11 and 14 on a cruise in 2020. I am wondering if a passport card is good for cruising. I have always used my birth certificate and DL, but I am worried that I will misplace my birth certificate. It has always worried me. I looked into getting passports for all of us, but it seems a bit pricey for me. The passport cards are $40 each for the boys and $55 each for me and my husband. I was curious to see if anyone else has just the card and not a full passport. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

You have 2 years (2018 & 2019) and however far into 2020 before you cruise. Why not get 2 each year...one at a time. For the boys I would put the put the now 11 year old in 3rd because no matter what his will be good for 5 years. The now 14 year old hopefully when you put in for his he is 16.

I would rather put out the 150.00 ( rounded figure) per person for the peace of mind. Because remember if god forbid something happens to one one the boys and need to be airlifted for a medical emergency you and hubby will not be able to be airlifted off with him.

I say this because on my cruise this past November they had to airlift someone off. We were closer to the Bahamas and was going to airlift the person off to there but the other party could not be airlifted with the person because of no passport. The captain was understanding to this and went full speed ahead and diverted so they could be airlifted in US waters to Port Canaveral.

So in the end better safe then sorry.

  3. Hey Drake, hope all is going well. You told me about the great little surf shop and grill by the pier on the last cruise we took there...sadly won’t be able to eat there this time. [emoji853]

What are your recommendations this time??? Coming mid November not into the beach. Been to the rum factory last time.

    Thanks for your help again

  4. I am with everyone that says use Thenford Grey’s services. Have used him in 2016 for one oh his offered tours on his website and in 2017 for a private tour. Wonderful both times. As we speak I am emailing him about my upcoming November cruise so I may go with him again.

In 2017 we were moved docks due to 5 ships being in port at the same time. Mr Grey did not know this, however between me calling and the other taxi drivers calling him it got straightened out. When Mr Gray got to the dock he came right over and apologized for the mix up (to both my group that was doing a private tour and his regular tour group). He took us to our driver for the day and through out the day we ran into him at a few stops and he came up to us to make sure everything was going good.

I will recommend and always use Mr. Gray when we are in St. Kitts!!! And I might add his prices for the regular tour or a private tour is not bad at all!!!

  5. I have used grays tour both times I have been! The first time regular tour (great) and the second time a private tour (even better). Both times it was my mother and I that went. This past November we docked at the industrial pier and both the cruise ship and the other taxi drivers were great helping me get ahold of him and telling him about the change. We had to wait a few minutes, but Mr. Gray himself came and made sure everything was okay, apologize for the mix up, took us to our private van and throughout the day he checked in on us. I forget what the ladies name was that took us around but she was wonderful. We, in my opinion, got to learn more about the island, see and do more then the regular tour did. We wanted to go somewhere “local” to eat lunch she took us to a beach side food place that had really good food. I wanted “local” spices and such and she even took us to get some of that. My nephew loved the spices so much I have to bring triple the amount home this coming fall.

I would recommend and I will only use Grays while in St Kitts.

  6. I go out of Baltimore and get seasick when we first get into the ocean until we get past the outter banks in NC. I have tried the over the counter stuff and don’t work for me. If you are worried go to guest service desk when you first get on and get a few packs of the seasickness pills they have they are free and work better then over the counter.

  7. The Pride gets lots of tuxes and ball gowns the first formal night so get as fancy as you want. The second night is usually less formal with cocktail dresses and suits. Have fun!

Ball gown is out...I am going to be lucky to get my sister in a cocktail dress both nights.

My sister better have fun...this is her Christmas/birthday present with me and our mom. Almost a year planning and finally less then a week and I can let the cat out of the bag for her to know!

  8. So glad you booked with Thenford, his knowledge and delivery was beyond exceptional! We did the island tour and Thenford was our guide. The fort is an absolute must see, take the time to climb to the top, and his knowledge of plants at the botanical garden was amazing! We were with him in October, air conditioned bus was refreshing and appreciated! I received a reply from online booking inquiry within 24 hours.

Glad you had a great time on his tour. Just returned from doing a private tour with his company this time! I will be using his company again next year when I go to St Kitts!

My mother and I can’t say enough good things about this company!!!!

  9. Very interested to see any updates on St. Croix. We are scheduled to be at St. Croix, January 2nd on the Pacific Princess. It is planned to do some form of an island tour, either through the ship or picked up at the dock and then spend money in the city.

When you get off the ship and walk out side of the gates there is a company that does tours right there for a good price. Loved St Croix when I went last year.

  10. Thank you, everyone, for all of your concern! My family and I are safe and sound, the house is still standing.

Most of our immediate needs are already met, but if anyone wants to send me a generator or solar set-up I'd be mighty grateful. :)

Drake, So glad that you and your family is safe and sound. So sad about the damage down there. I wish I could help ya with a generator or solar set-up. What other kind of help do you all need down there? I know St. Thomas has gotten a lot of help. If you can think of anything email me at my screen name at aol dot com.

  11. Most of the wonderful places I have recommended are barely hanging on or closed outright. Freedom City Surf/Teres Veho was flattened and probably won't ever reopen.

:( So sad....I loved the tacos there.

    Send help if you can.

What kind of help do you need? You have helped a lot of us, maybe we can try to help you and your area out.

    -Drake

you can always email me the kind of things yall need at my screen name at aol dot come

  12. I just wanted to post the outcome so everyone would know there was no problem with Greys Tours.

After emailing twice, and receiving no response, I finally found their facebook page and sent a message there. Turns out, they had received both of my emails and had tried to respond to me....but used the wrong email adress! I clearly gave my correct address when I sent the original emails, but they responded to aida2012@ something.

Anyway, we are booked and ready to go, looking forward to a good time.

So glad that everything worked out. They are great...had to move my days around because of changed because of the hurricanes to my cruise and they moved the days around for me with no problem. can't wait to go.

  13. I was to be on the Feb. 12th cruise! And got the call from the TA that it was canceled! I am not very happy about this at all!!!!!!! I understand it needs to go into Dry-dock for repair and such however Royal needs to get it together with this....

Now because this was a gift for my sisters birthday/Christmas I have to remake other gifts that she was getting for the cruise. I wonder if I can switch to one out of Tampa for the same price?!?!? Miami is another 4-5 hours on top of a 16 hour drive already!!! Guess I will call back to the TA tomorrow.

  14. Yes, Drake was so helpful to me last year as well. It looks like we will be back in St Croix in November this year and I wanted to reach out to Drake for his advice. And maybe bring him certain supplies that he may be short of. He is so exceptionally kind to everyone on the Boards that I want to return his kindness now that he is in need. I hope that he is OK as I see that his town was hit especially hard.

Was hoping to go back on my cruise at the end of October but all reports right now says St Croix is closed to ships.

  15. I, too am thinking of Drake and all the people in St. Croix and every other island affected by these monster hurricanes. Drake was a big help to me while I was planning our day in St. Croix last year which was our first visit.

Yes he was for us too! Sent us down the beach by the cruise dock to eat at that surf shop......loved the tacos!!!! My heart gos out to everyone down in the islands that were hit by the hurricanes.

  16. Thanks lovestx. I knew he would not check in right away. But wanted to let him know someone was thinking about and worrying about him!

Hope they all get up and going soon

Another vote for Thenford Grey tour!!!! Loved it can's say enough good things about the staff and tour!

  18. As I have mentioned several times and many others have agreed with, you will most likely be thrilled with any of the Thenford Grey excursions. They are terrific and reasonbly priced. We did the Grand Tour of St. Kitts, were fortunate to have Thenford as our guide and loved it. Check out all his tours at www.thenfordgreytours.com

I am another one that votes for Grey's tours! Loved them last year and going with them again this year on our trip to St Kitts.
