Just read the remnants of Typhoon Merdok could be hitting Alaska.. high winds flooding. Read it could be the worse storm since 2011. Not to be selfish, but anybody know how past big storms have affected cruises? I leave on the Encore the 25th. Obviously I hope everyone there is ok first and foremost.

Don't know if it is controversial, but the muster drill. I know it is necessary but I hate it.

Yes, I checked the website and the email. It says you need one for Canada and to be vaccinated, but I was hoping if you didn’t get off the ship in Canada you wouldn’t have to… haha.
-
If my Alaska cruise has a stop in Canada (originates out of Seattle) do I still need the negative covid test? We don’t plan on getting off the ship. Also do you have to be vaccinated? We have friends who want to join now, but are unvaccinated. They would not get off ship in Canada either. Some in our group seem to think we will still need to do a test. Confused.

Kind of a stupid question maybe, but… if you book a Haven room can you have friends/family over to your room to visit? I know they can’t go to the other Haven offerings. My sister and I are thinking of upgrading and one of the reasons why is we would like to have gatherings on our deck(put into upgrade to large deck) nobody else in our group is putting in for it, so if they can’t even stop over, we would probably reconsider upgrading. Thanks for responses!

Hi all- I have a group of 8 of us going to Alaska out of Seattle. We are staying at a hotel that says it is only .4 tenths of a mile to the Pier 66. Who do you all recommend for transfers to the port? We don't have any special needs for the transfer. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for all the replies. It sounds like we need to plan to pay some tax at some point. I just now need to decide if I should upgrade to the premium plus. Can't decide.

Hello! I am a first time cruiser on Norwegian (quite a few on Royal) and am very excited. My question being, I always pay for the drink package on Royal.
For Norwegian this was included in my booking. Do you have to pay taxes on the drinks you get on the ship or is that included? Royal your taxes and tip were always included in the cost. I tend to indulge a bit(not to excess!) so was wondering if I will owe taxes at the end as I read somewhere else that you have to pay them? Just want to be prepared for it if we do. Thanks in advance!

Yes, I got them all removed, just more annoyed how 4 different wrong charges were put on my account. I bet some people don’t even notice.

I was on Oasis last month. I check my account statements often. I had 4 charges on my account that weren’t mine. Charged at the Opal Theatre which I never went to. Charged for drinks even though I had the deluxe package( no drinks over $13) . I argued these charges and got the money back. But morning of deembarkation was charged$150 for towels!!! That is 6 towels. I only used 3 all week and returned all of them and scanned in. I had my card all week so no one else using it. Gone with Royal 5 times, first time I have had this issue. Anyone else having this problem?

Unfortunately the one that cancelled, called to cancel so the other one could get the drink package at the cheaper price before we boarded. So no the one who cancelled hadn’t paid for the drink package. Maybe some calling and complaining might help. Otherwise lesson learned.
-
The one cancelled before. When the other got to check in the charge was there. They originally said drink package charge, then they changed today to saying room cost.
-
They cancelled before. About two weeks before. They originally said the extra charge was the drink package. It has been stupid.

So we are currently on Oasis. Two friends of mine booked an inside room. One of them cancelled and lost 100% of his fare, which was understood. The problem is they are now charging the other person an extra approximately $400. I don’t get it, they still got the other person who cancelled’s FULL fair. Is there anyway for the one who cruised to not have to pay this $400? Thanks

Myself and some friends are going on Oasis next week. We have a basketball game we would like to watch. Anybody know if they have any bars that broadcast games on the ship? Thanks

Ok, so we have our cruise picked out. Oasis In February. Stops in Nassau, St Thomas, and St Maarten. Any recommendations of good excursions/ places to snorkel in any of those 3 ports? FYI, those in the group that want to snorkel are beginners. So any recommendations are appreciated!

I agree. Was on Jewel a few years ago, no joke $40 to play 1 game!! It was advertised "come play a game of bingo" but I assumed it was at least a few games. Probably my fault, but they made a FORTUNE!Bingo is a huge money maker for the cruise lines. They take in way, way more than they ever pay out. It's a total scam.Sent from my Moto G (4) using Forums mobile app

Thanks everyone. We don't have our flights yet, but I am thinking if we get in early a nice day at Cocoa Beach is a nice option. Thanks for the link Bob!

Hi all, for those of you that have cruised out of Port Canaveral, do you recommend staying in Orlando or Port Canaveral? We will be flying in the day before the cruise, and it looks like we can get a good deal at a hotel by the airport, and then use a shuttle service to get us to the cruise ship the next day. Seems reasonably priced. Or does anyone think staying by the port is the better option? Thanks in advance for any input!!!

Who does everybody recommend for travel insurance? I have used the trip insurance store in the past. One in our group going in February has some health issues and wants a good policy. Anybody that has actually had to use it? Positive experience with it?
Thanks in advance!

Are you looking at the Eastern or Western?
Really open to anything. Just planning a week in February. Get out of the Iowa cold!

Wondering where people have found really good snorkeling in the Caribbean? We are planning a trip for this coming February and a number of the group's top thing on the list is snorkeling. Any suggestions are helpful. Thanks!!
