Regarding parking.  We've had vandalism issues parking in SF in the past (not the cruise ship garages mind you) therefore, we park at SFO and take a Uber / taxi to the pier.

Prepaid parking at SFO, in the long term garage, is cheaper than the pier - by enough to cover the Uber.

Somewhat less convenient, yes, but we've never had an issue with the car at SFO.

    Just one cruisers opinion.

Great information. I bet that would work well for most. If I can get my families luggage to fit into an uber sized option that would be awesome . We cruise with too much stuff to ever consider a single uber XL or similar. Would require the correct Uber Black SUV or multiple uberd to fit our family and luggage.

PandaBear62 - maybe I missed your response to my earlier query.

We are also driving to San Francisco next month prior to boarding the Ruby - could you please let me know where you parked and how you reserved your parking?  Was the parking garage secure?

Any current information would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Ray

We parked at 80 Francisco. This is where we always park. You can get the link from sfport.com and scroll down to the long term parking link.

Here is that link. 80 Francisco

Unfortunately no you cannot do that with any of the TVs on any of the princess ships.

We have had good success using a universal remote to change inputs and an HDMI to USB-C cable to play movies directly off our phones/Tablet. The TVs attached directly to the walls are difficult to impossible to squeeze your hand into to get to the HDMI port. The TV's on shelves or swivel bracket make it no problem. Here is the back of our TV in a window suite on the Grand. YMMV.

  4. Table of 10 is the biggest single table I have seen and sat at.

EDIT: Oops! While looking for a photo I took of the dining room table charts I ran across this photo I took on the Sky. 10 person is all that was offered to our group on the Grand and Star Princess. Clearly this photo I shot on the Sky Princess 01/20 grabbed my attention.

  5. +1 for moving to Plaza deck forward/midforward. That is our go to on Grand Class ships. My wife and I along with 2 children did many cruises in inside cabins. From youth to adult. By the second day everyone will have a routine and things will be fine. I advise you stay in a cabin convenient to public spaces. An inside cabin is for sleeping, showering, and changing. That is all. The best views of Alaska are not from a balcony cabin. The best views of Alaska are from the many, many public areas with blankets, hot chocolate, and a server round tripping the bar and kitchen for you. Enjoy your trip.

are these the right size or do we have to expand them.

They are the correct size. Print, cut and slide in medallion holder.  Also, I would be happy to create one for you. Simply post a link to an image and I will upload the finished file for you and others to use.

  7. A pocket knife is an essential componant to many peoples EDC. Cruising should not change this. If you have carried a daily knife for years you will like me have a drawer or a basket full of low to mid range pocket knives.  My cruise ship practice is to bring on as many of these knives as I have ports I have. Initially getting them on the ship is not the issue. Just place them in your checked luggage (100% success rate so far).

When coming back on board from port, I just leave it in my pocket. 80% of the time it makes it aboard without issue. The other 20%of the time it gets confiscated. Once back in the cabin I place another one in my pocket and go on with my day. On the final night I get a letter telling me where to pick up my confiscated items when I disembark. Lather, rince, repeat with each voyage.

  8. Finally found the Phantom Bridge. Sold out for this voyage. Will try again next week. For those wondering about the stairs between deck 3 and 4 for tendering, I saw in use today a wheelchair lift at the forward elevators that would take a chair from deck 4 to deck 3. I know many travel with scooters and chairs so this photo may help some.

  9. Checking in as well. Here for 14 days 12/21-1/04. MDR remains slow. Growing pains I assume as any other Princess trip we have been on had been very efficient. Ate at the CG last night and since we didnt have any Pub lunch on the first sea day I asked and was told no Pub lunch the trip. Said "we are really busy this trip". So whatever that means. CG dinner was great. Second formal moved to the Christmas day vs the second sea day. Looking forward to that night as it is the only formal of 4 formals we are attending in the MDR. Missed Rock Opera the first night and the comedian last night. Tonight is my first time the the Princess theater. Noticed folding arms on some aisle seats. Neet addition as I am a plus size cruiser and appriciate the ability to flip it up and sit more comfortably. Not heard anything about the escape room that is supposed to be here somewhere. I did sign up for the UST so maybe I can learn more then.
