  1. We will be taking our grandchildren on QM2 from Sydney to Auckland early next year. A particular treat would be the ice cream machine in the King's Court. If it's still there post remastering. It isn't the kind of thing that features large in Cunard's publicity, so I'm hoping some kind passenger who has voyaged on her since that remaster might pop a reply in here to tell me the situation.

The grandchildren would be very grateful to know they can look forward to it.

Hi Gray we were thinking of doing a similar trip with our Grandson but as he is an extremely active 11yr old boy thought he might get bored, If you dont mind me asking how old are your Grandad kids and have you done this before with them. Thanks Allison
  2. Hi we are trying to figure out what cruise line to take our 11yr old grandson on,he is a bit shy, loves sports, swimming and is really interested in food technology ie cooking and making up new recipes. Looking at around NZ or AUS . Might be nothing out there to suit but would still like to take him on cruise just for the experience. Thanks for any help given.Allison.

  3. Only one thing and that would be more lighting to see into wardrobe we found it quiet dark.We were in cabin 4105 obstructed view of tender boat, would book this cabin again as it let in a good amount of natural light and could see onto deck below and out to sea/port when the tender was gone. Had a wonderful time and made all the better by the 9mtr swells (QV handled them no problem) and the hat overboard incident. We sailed from Auckland to Wellington via Australia it was our first time on QV and had done 2 previous cruises on QM2 and to be honest we liked QM2 better even though we couldnt fault anything. We did find QV a bit brown and dark in the decor dept having said that im sure if the right itinerary came up on QV we wouldnt turn it down.Crew amazing, food great, service faultless and met some lovely people (and a few weird ones) but thats all part of cruising,:Dnow its back to work and start planning our next cruise. Cheers Allison.

  4. Rest assured my cruise was not ruined !

But what you could do is once on board, you could check on line to see what the price differences are. To give you an example, last time I was on the QV I looked the price of 2 or 3 painting up. The ones on board looked cheaper, but then you had to add VAT and import duty on, plus shipping and by the time you'd done all that it worked out pretty much the same.

Good idea Thanks. I have been online and taken note of some that i think will do and will compare them when onboard.

  5. Thank you all, as it is a surprise present for him I cant be more specific about which one and as someone kindly pointed out Citizen have over 147 different models but im guessing they not all onboard. I will just have to take a gamble and hope he likes the one he gets. Thanks again.

  6. Im guessing they dont have 147 different watches onboard and as it is a suprise I cant say if he would like Gold or Silver, chunky dial or slimline etc. Thanks I will try and contact H.R Sorry to those of you who have had your cruise ruined by my question.

  7. Hi would someone who is on QV now please be so kind and go to the shop that sells watches and look for a Mens Citizen Eco Drive watch and just give me an average price. I dont know if they have a Duty Free Sale at anytime or they are at Duty Free prices all the time. It will be my husbands birthday while we are on board so would really like to buy him one depending on price. As i have been told sometime things arent all that cheap D.F. Many thanks Allison

  8. Hi we will be arriving in Sydney on QV and was wondering how I go about buying duty free there? I only want a watch for my Husbands birthday which is while we are on board or could I get it in Auckland before we embark and if so how? thanks Allison

  9. Thanks everyone for your help Cunard have been told via our Passenger Reservation Form.I will go to MDR when we get on board and speak to someone. I hate having to mention this to waiters while sitting at table as its just a big hassle trying to sort out which meals contain it. Im sure I wont starve, can always live of ice cream;) Allison

  10. Hi we are embarking on QV in 49 sleeps:D and I was wondering who in the MDR do I tell about my allergy, MaitreD or our table waiter and should I go there before our dinning time just to make sure they know?. ( I did put it on the information sheet we filled in) Thanks Allison
