  1. I write. I bring a pocket journal and write about my trip. I’ve done two solo cruises and I love going back and reading about them. While writing, people have introduced themselves to me and asked if I was a critic. I’ve also had people draw or write things in my journal, which makes a nice memory. So, writing can also be an ice breaker.

The piano bar, depending on the pianist, can be great for a solo.

Karaoke is another way to meet people.

Not that cruising solo is all about meeting people, of course. [emoji846]

  2. Possibly Fury Catamaran?? They have a beach stop....

I did the Fury Catamaran Sail, Snorkel, and Beach Break excursion through Carnival last year and I’m doing it again this year. Light beer and margaritas were included, but it was $11 for a burger and salads. There were inflatable beach “toys” on the water at the private beach, stand up paddlebarding, kayaking, hammocks, lounge chairs. On the way back to the ship, group dance music played and the crew got a dance party going on the catamaran. It was a blast. Was this the one you’re thinking of?

  3. I was there for a day last January. I don’t recall the exact temp. However, it felt hot without being sweltering. I wore shorts and sandals around the port and had to sit down in the shade with a cold drink for about twenty minutes around midday because of the heat. Then, I went snorkeling and spent a few hours at the beach. I danced on a catamaran in board shorts and a t-shirt.

    I hope that helps!

  4. If u eat on the lido deck make sure it's a down time..people will see your full glass, silverware and food and just move it and take your table..

I saw someone post once that they made a small sign to put at their table if they get up and plan to return. It was very polite and kinda cute, saying something like, “Hello, I plan to return to my seat in a moment. You’re welcome to join me if you’d like, but please don’t move my belongings or steal my seat. Thanks!”

  5. I have solo’d twice and each time did “my time dining.” I never asked to be seated with others and always sat alone in the MDR (aside from the one time I had a date, sort of). I am definitely going to try this late dining, sitting with other solos concept next time!

I have made friends when cruising solo on excursions, at the muster drill, at dance classes, at trivia, and at various bars. When I want company, I just sit somewhere in the midst of things that are happening and strike up conversations or, after having a drink, ask someone to dance (which is what led to me to having a dinner date one night). When I want to be alone, I stay off to the side or hide out in a more secluded spot reading and writing.

    Cruising solo is the best!

  6. I'll be in Cozumel (IoS) in December and was thinking about doing the Cozumel Bar Hop. My husband will probably stay on the ship, so I'd be heading out by myself. Anyone done this solo or socialized with solo people on the tour? I'm just worried I'll end up sitting alone and bored. (Alone and bored in paradise with free shots, but still... ;p )

I haven't done this particular excursion, but have been on two cruises solo. I've almost always met people on the excursions. I usually get to the excursion meeting place a little early and meet people as they arrive. "Are you waiting for the excursion," always breaks the ice.

  7. I just booked what will be my fourth cruise and third with Carnival. I was just telling my friends, who I'm cruising with this time, that the thrill of exploring the ship is gone, because it practically has the exact same layout as the ships on my previous two Carnival cruises. Don't get me wrong, I'm super excited to go on a cruise again and there is much to get thrilled about, but I will miss the thrill of exploring an unfamiliar place.
