  1. :( It's going down, nothing like it use to be.. We go one night only ,

lobster is the only thing that appeals to me. If I'm lucky I'll get luke warm lobster and the melted butter is no longer melted .

Where do you go on the other nights? Buffet? Or specialty restaurants?

I have very low expectations of cruise ship pizza. [emoji50] but the tacos had better be good.

  3. Wait, wait, wait... $85? For one case of water? 8. 5. Dollars. Eighty five dollars? 5 + 80 dollars. Hold on. Is this a cruise to the moon and this is bottled space water? Does the $85 space water keep you hydrated for a month? Does it dance? Is there weed in it? When we say "bottled water" do we really mean bottled gin? Does the water come with a hooker? Do you mean 17 cases of water? Does a cute doggie deliver the water and then sing you a song? Do the water bottles open themselves up and then fly to your mouth when you want a drink? Do you temporarily get super powers when drinking this water? Does the water cure cancer?

Over the course of my life, I've come to terms with the cost of popcorn at movie theaters... However, my brain cannot even begin to comprehend that a case of regular everyday water is $85. I might be able to accept $18 and begrudgingly pay it, like I do when I buy popcorn at the movies.

I'm sailing Carnival in January. I paid 3.99 for a case of water to be delivered to my room.

  4. It's always very interesting to hear someone else's opinion and find it so different than your own.

I did the Spirit twice this year, once with my husband and once with my mom. We had the specialty dining package the first cruise and the second only ate in LeBistro once and the MDR the rest of the time. We only had one meal out of 21, (ok, maybe 18, I didn't make it to breakfast every day. ) that I'd say was sub par. It was chicken and it was dry. Everything else was delicious and flavorful. I'd even go as far as to say some things were too spicy for my palate and I had to be careful that I didn't order anything spicy.

It's interesting for me to hear your experience and that of others who rate NCL's food over Carnival. It certainly could have been a fluke in my situation. Maybe it was specific to the ship I was on or the meals that I ordered. The food was so dry and bland, though, that it really had an impact on me. I remember getting three bites into cheesecake one night and stopping because there really was no reason to continue eating it. Who doesn't finish eating cheesecake?!

I'm cruising Carnival in January, so I'll have another chance to compare and contrast.

  5. I have only been on two cruises: Carnival and then NCL. On Carnival, I was really impressed with the MDR food. On NCL, I was very disappointed. The MDR food on NCL was dry and lacking flavor. I had three delicious meals on that cruise. One was a hot dog at their 24 hour restaurant late at night. A hot dog. It had taste and flavor and it was juicy. And the other was at the buffet on my last night. The meats there were tender and succulent. And there was flavor. It was a Thanksgiving week cruise and on Thanksgiving, I had a traditional turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes and gravy meal. It was pretty tasty, but not quite as good as home made.

If I were to sail NCL again, I would likely stick to the buffet.

  6. I lost a camera on a Carnival ship. There was paperwork that I had to fill out. I sent them a picture of the camera and a receipt from when I bought it (I keep stuff like that). They sent me a check for like 90 or 80 percent of the cost of the camera. I've never sailed RCCL, but I would suspect that there is a similar system.

  7. I'm an introvert with social tendencies. I need introspection, but love excitement. Cruising, or just going out, alone is perfect for me in respect to those two things. I don't have to talk to people if I don't want to, but there are people about if I choose to socialize. I can experience all the excitement while being alone with my thoughts. I keep a journal and later blog about the whole experience. Rereading my blogs from past solo trips always inspires me to plan another one. I meet people, but they don't monopolize my time or impede upon my plans. And sometimes I allow myself to go along with a group should I meet one.

I am so excited for my next solo cruise!

  8. I'm sailing Carnival Conquest out of Fort Lauderdale, FL on 1-29-17. This will be my second solo cruise and fifth solo trip. My previous solo cruise was Norwegian about four years ago.
