  1. When we got off the boat at 1020 today there were people everywhere. The ovation theatre, all hanging around deck three and five and Lido. I don't think anyone was getting on before noon today the earliest.

Yikes!!! NOT liking the sound of getting embarked late.. :( sniff sniff.. I get sooo excited before our cruise.. and I used to love getting to port nice and early to get onboard nice and early. Really miss that.

  2.

On a final note - I thoroughly enjoyed the diverse crowd that Carnival attracts - from young couples/families to multigenerational and reunion families to Asian / African American / Latinos and middle America. We are a white, middle class family from the Jersey Shore and we loved the culture, style, fun and happiness shared by everyone.

I agree! I love the great mix of people.. :) People are people, equal and same.. :)

  3.

Embarkation was delayed till after 1pm last Sunday. Don't be crazed to get to the port sooo early - get there by 2 and you should get on quickly. We also stayed in our cabin till 10 am this morning. At that point they were only calling tags 1-9 so they were a bit delayed.

Is this the "norm" now? When we last sailed 2012 we were on no later than 1130am.. wow.. 2pm is harsh.. :(

  4. I keep seeing all these posts on John Heald's FB page with pictures of various people who were the first on that ship to visit the Red Frog Pub and receive a complimentary drink. My question is, is the Pub open immediately on embarkation or does it open later after the ship sails? Seems to me if it is open immediately, unless you're the first to board, changes of being the first there are next to nothing.....

    Anyone know? Just curious

We always figure its either people from wedding parties, diamond/platinum priority boarding..FTTF boarding, and B2B's that would get there first.. This will be our first time making a run for the Red Frog pub when we sail Oct 25.. We always get zone 3 boarding (wheelchair) so hubby says he plans on making a run for it to see if he can get the free beer.. lol.. wish us luck! I'll definitely let you know when we get back.. or you just might see our photo on JH facebook page.. lol

  5. I can't speak for myself yet, never been to one before, but I have heard numerous people say the wings at the pub are great! Looking forward to trying them myself.

wings? I didn't know they had wings?? I thought that was an NCL thing.. Would be awesome if carnival did have wings in the red frog pub, I'll be there everynight when I sail Oct 25 on the Breeze..

  6. I've just realized that the cruise we are about to book includes October 31.

I think I have read reviews from people who have sailed over Halloween, and remember that there are costumes and events involved.

Can I please have details - do kids & adults dress up? Is there any special event for those dressed up, or Halloween in general?

    Thanks! :)

Our cruise on the Breeze this yr will go through Halloween too.. Oct 25 - Nov 2.. we can't wait. .this will be our first Halloween on a cruise.. My husband was born Oct 31 so Halloween is HUGE in our house.. and he turns the big Five-OHHH this yr.. lol.. so we're celebrating big. What ship were you thinking of sailing with?

  7. What is the "American Table Menu"

Its a huge mistake that Carnival made.. actually its a new menu format, with table items that can be shared amongst everyone at your table like flatbread, etc.. it was rolled out to a few ships to see how it would fare.. and I don't think it fared well...

  8. With their new More = Merrier rates mine went down.. for the second time in a month. I bought Early Saver and I'm paid in full.

Now I already begged for the OBC for the first price reduction(didn't want the upgrade).. and in looking at the price reduction form it says if your rate came with OBC you will forfeit it when using this form.. so does that mean I will LOOSE the first OBC credit I was given last week if I apply now for this second price reduction?? I don't want to loose the first OBC I got as its bigger than what this new one would be..

I know people have said you can keep applying for price protection up to near when you sail..but does this mean that they will continue to add OBC so it accumulates and builds?

Any experienced help would be great.. thx :)

  9. my daughter was in the 12-14 circle C.. and although I know they say its "supervised" its not.. sure they all start out at the C room, where there is one councellor, but if its swimming, or scavenger, or pizza party, they are alone with their peers..goodness knows where the councellor goes during these times? .. we learned this while my daughter was enrolled and going to some of the activities...she said the kids would show up, councellor would tell them what the activity was, and then send them on their merry way..

  10.

If you wanted to go by yourself, just so up and say that your hubby was throwing up and had diarrhea. They wouldn't want him on board.

Oh no.. don't say that ! That would put you at risk of not getting on either.. If I remember right, the small white forms they get you to sign also ask if you've been in contact with anyone witih diarrhea or vomitting.. so you don't want to risk not getting onboard yourself.. come up with the honest answer, work wouldn't let him time off after you had already booked your cruise.. never hurts to be honest :)

  11. Does anyone know what the soft serve "ice cream" really is? Is it ice milk, frozen yogurt, or something else? It doesn't taste creamy like real ice cream.

Many people love it. I'm always disappointed in it when I try it. It's been 3 years since we cruised, has it changed at all? Thanks, just curious. :o

in my honest opinion.. its like frozen 2% milk(with sugar) .. pressed out of a machine in a fancy swirl pattern to most resemble ice cream.. Thats the best I can describe it.

Tastes NOTHING like true true ice cream..

  12. Are price drops automatically applied? Does Carnival email you to let you know?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

No.. and No.. you have to be watching for price drops yourself.. then call Carnival or your TA. Once approved or declined then they will email you.

  13. got an OBC of $199.00 since we already paid in full. Is there a way to check my OBC on the carnival website to be sure I have it. I can see that they dropped the price but I don't see OBC listed any were. Does it take a day or so to show up??

In where it shows the total of what you paid, look on the LEFT you will see FEES AND CREDITS and the amount will show there.. hope this helps?

Plus, if you did get the OBC from the price protection claim form, you would have recieved an email confirmation? Just print that out and be sure to have it with you when you sail, just incase its challenged on your first day.

  14. they need to make smoking in the casino for players only

agreed...lol.. but good luck with that one.. lol.. how would they manage that? They don't have the crew to police such a thing.. Nice idea though. Just wait till they decide to ban smoking in the casinos ! gasp ! lol..:rolleyes::D:eek:

  15. There are a series of large square shaped interior staterooms on the upper deck of Splendor that do not appear anywhere else on the ship. Staterooms numbered 6287 to 6307 are square shaped and look to be much bigger than the other interior rooms. However, they are listed in the same square footage/category as the other interiors on this deck.

Also, I did not notice rooms in this location on the other decks. If you go up to deck 7 or 8, there are no rooms at all in this location, it is just blank space on the deck plan.

Does anyone have pics or info about these rooms? We need to quickly change a room with 4 into two interiors and these look great on the deck plan, but might not look great upon boarding.

    Thanks.

Where you often see blank spaces as such on a deck plan, those are often crew cabins..

  16. Has anyone ever tendered with a mobility scooter?

I can't do stairs.. can't bend my knees beyond 3 -4 inches at best for a step-up so walking onto a tender is out of the question. Plus can't carry my weight up a stair steeper than 3-4 inches even with the help of someone.

We have avoided all tender ports to date as we don't know if I could scooter right onto the tender-boats?

  17. Resq2u, I have heard that it is a hassle to rent scooters who have to drop them off to you and pick them up at the end of the cruise. Did you have any problems with your company? How long did it take for them to deliver the scooter to the ship and how long did it take for them to pick up the scooter when the cruise was over? Your advice and information will be most helpful. Cruising on the Fantasy in Sept.

sorry to hear you have had issues. Hopefully they can get them resolved for you.. Renting a scooter for someone who needs one is truly a blessing to have for the freedom it gives you.

  18. I can walk about 20 steps without too much pain, so we always always rent a scooter when we cruise.. have you thought about renting him one? They are roughly $248 for the duration of the cruise and they deliver it right to your stateroom and pick it up at the end of your cruise.. very easy company to work with = Special Needs Group 954-585-0575

  19. On RCCL Navigator; this our 1st time with a scooter. I can only use a walker to get around now at home. Will I be able to drive right up to dine & also shows,or do We have to take walker all the time!

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Yes, on your first day boarding, go directly to the main diningroom and ask to speak to the Maitre'D.. ask for a table where you can park your scooter nearby.. they will ALWAYS accomodate if they know ahead of dining time.. don't wait till last minute.. As for the theater I'm not sure.. I only cruise with Carnival and they have designated spots for scooters to park and you get to see the shows.. I cruised one time with NCL and they expect scooters and wheelchairs to be way at the back of the very last row.. not very happy about that.. will never cruise NCL again. So can't advise about RCCL on that one.. good luck and you will be fine.

  20. I love the breakdown chart

    BUT

is it fair to compare cans (when you buy it by individual cans) vs. fountain soda (which you get when you buy the soda card)?

I am a Coke addict (yes, I know it is bad for me---my doctor tells me every visit). I drink Coke in cans most of the time and infrequently in plastic bottles. I hate, hate fountain Coke.

Last time I bought a soda card, I was given a small glass with a ton of ice and little Coke. So it meant many, many trips to get my "fix". Very few bartenders would decrease the ice and I could never get a whole can. It was so inconvenient. Now I carry on 2 12 packs that cost me about $6-$8 at the store.

Agreed ! and very well said.. I also drink Coke (diet coke) from the can.. and hate fountain pop.. Depending on your preference, you'd be better off to bring your own case of cans onboard, or buy the cans on the ship. Your room will automatically come with 2 cans already - if you drink them they are billed to your sail and sign card - then you can buy from the bar during the day. The room steward will replenish the two cans each day during room cleaning, etc.. and you can ask him/her to fill your ice bucket as well. I found I drank 3-4 cans per day on average.. brought my own Teva cup with straw from home and got ice from my cabin each morning and evening and filled up my ice at the Lido throughout the day - very convenient, you don't need to ask the bar for ice.
