  1. Thanks so much for the awesome review and gorgeous photos!! We are RCI newbies and excited for our Jewel cruise. She looks like a beautiful ship. Up until now, I thought the Celebrity Reflection, our last cruise, was the most beautiful ship we had seen. However, Jewel may soon replace the Reflection based on your photos. Although, to be on a cruise no matter which ship is the best in the moment. :):)

  2. Hi! We are RCI newbies and wonder if you can help us decide what is appropriate for formal nights. For the men, is a sport coat and dress pants OK? Is it OK for the men to not wear a jacket at all, but rather a dress shirt with slacks? Our last cruise was on Celebrity, another RCI brand, and they have changed their dress code. It is not necessary to wear a jacket of any kind. So... lots of confusion on our end. Thanks!!! :)

  3. Thanks for the replies and the hints about testing the blow dryer right away. I have very wavy hair and only blow dry a bit of the top and my bangs area (so I am not a total "flat-head"). So for what I need, it should suffice. It is nice to free up the room in my bag. Space is very valuable - we travel only with carry-on's. (DH travelled alot for business and trained us all well.) Thanks to you Royal Carib cruisers!! :)

  4. Sorry, yet again another hair dryer question. Let me say, I did try to search various ways but did not see any recent comments specific to the Jewel. We are cruising for first time on Royal Carib (so excited!!!) and are there still hair dryers in the cabins on Jewel? Thanks!!

  5. Regarding Select not part of the 20% discount sale.... Just bought the Ultimate for DH (he's so happy :D) with 20% discount. I myself really only drink wine and that makes Select a better choice for me, but it is currently not on sale. I called Customer Service and she confirmed that the Select package is not on sale for our cruise, only Ultimate and Premium. I just need to keep checking back.

  6. Sorry, if this question seems pretty basic, but we are new to RCI. How did you find out about the 20% off sale on beverage packages? Do you log in daily or was it via an email? I understand it is for select sailings, but I don't want to miss the offer if it becomes available for ours. Thanks!!

  7. We just were on Celebrity WC cruise late Jan/early Feb. Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Ocho Rios were all in low 80's. Last port, Coco Cay was replaced by Nassau due to an incoming weather system and potential problems with tendering. Nassau was sunny and in low 80's until just as we were departing. The system came in along with a sudden 15 degree temp drop, ugly gray clouds and rough seas.

  8. Thanks for all the great info!! I agree with being on a deck sandwiched between decks with cabins as well. I believe my DS and future DDIL are looking for a mid-ship cabin for motion sickness reasons. Decks 7 and 8 mid-ship appear to be good choices. (Personally, my husband and myself prefer the front of the ship. We once had a cabin in the rear area, but not actually an aft cabin. There was a constant low rumble and vibration throughout the entire cruise. However, this was an oceanview cabin on the second to lowest deck and that may be the real issue.) Thanks again!!:)

  9. How true. Happened to us on a cruise once where there was an extended family in multiple cabins surrounding us. They were banging on doors, screaming loudly (happy screaming), going cabin to cabin, etc. day and night. And I mean at 2-3 in the morning! But if you can at least keep in mind some of the potential noisy areas regardless of your neighbors, it is worth a try. Turns out we still enjoyed that cruise. We always do! Thanks so much!

  10. Hello!! This is my first time visiting the Disney board. I am doing some research for my DS and future DDIL for a cruise on the Fantasy. Are there any specific areas to steer clear of as far as choosing a veranda cabin for the two of them? I am thinking in terms of noise levels, obstructed views, high foot traffic, etc? We have cruised previously and I know the basics, such as what is below, above, down the hall, etc. Also, I can't figure out from the deck plan, if there is a multiple-deck atrium with any surrounding cabins on the higher decks. I know noise levels can be high in those cabins. So, looking for your help with some basic cabin choosing tips and experiences you may have had. Thanks so much to all my fellow Cruise Critic Members!! :)
