I know we will be back onboard before dark. Nassau is bad enough at night normally. Now it is post hurricane damage and the locals are robbing warehouses. I am not expecting anything from Carnival on this because they retain a lot of "power" with their contract and Itinerary changes. I am however looking at other cruise lines not owned by CCL. That is the choice I have. They made theirs and I will make mine.

Thank you for the excellent review. We cannot wait to sail on the Pride in October and David's is something I am really looking forward to.

If you are having trouble purchasing these Gift Cards you are not alone by any stretch. http://www.doctorofcredit.com/paypal-digital-gifts-removes-limits-bets-off-now/

I got the 2 last night and then 1 this morning but blocked again. Called paypal who was blocking and they did verification. Returned to Ebay and now ebay says can not provess. LOL I am determined to get more.
I tried to buy a Red Lobster GC through them and no luck. I got 2 last night (Carnival GC) and I am like you PatyCake, I am determined to get more. lol. I mean it's free money for crying out loud.

I am not sure what you mean by "walk on the bulkheads." Probably something simple that is going right over my head.:)
When the ship lists (sways) to the port or starboard side and goes over far enough then you have to take a few steps on the walls (bulkheads). It would be very unlikely to happen on a ship like Pride. One of the Crew members posted a video on another, not to be named social media site of water coming under the outside doors into the Taj Mahal Lounge and a Baltimore News Station had a clip of the conditions y'all had to endure. I am sorry that happened and I hope you still had a great time. I am on her next month and cannot wait.:)

Home from the Pride. What a wild ride that was. Thank God for Bonine. We skipped Freeport and arrived in Baltimore around 1 a.m. this morning.
Glad you are all back safe. I have no doubt it was a wild ride. Did you have to walk on the bulkheads?

In some ways it's true, but I think it depends on the port. In this case, it likely was to beat the worst of the storm. Isn't Baltimore up into a channel?
Yes RuthlessBoss it is technically the Patapcso River but referred to "the Inner Harbor". I just said "yes" to RuthlessBoss. Does that make me a Yes Man

That news report made it seem like they are bringing her in early so she'll encounter the worst weather while docked. Is anyone else interpreting this the same way?
You never want to be tied up when bad weather hits; always out at sea where you can ride it out. If you're tied up alongside you risk the ship being pushed into the dock, mooring lines breaking, etc.
I watched it again and you might have a point. I guess another interpretation of what the Carnival statement implied was that by returning early they would miss the worst of the storm while with in the Chesapeake Bay or while trying to dock in Baltimore. In either case I would call it a miss. I don't think there was much of a chance of them missing it while in the Atlantic.

I am sure all is well and that the sailing will leave on time today. There will probably be a rough ride tomorrow on their way down.

I agree Jimbo5544 they will need the extra time in port to get the water up. I know it has been a while since my last cruise but there are slide locks on the balcony doors, correct? I was wondering because of the news reporter saying people's balcony doors blowing open.
-
Looks like they had to deal with that for about 2 hours from the comments and answers on the video. That answers the questions I had about the water inside the ship. Winds strong enough to list the ship to port. That and the 14+ ft swells they were in would have made for an interesting ride to say the least. Thanks for the link.

I keep getting an error message regarding PayPal! So frustrating because there are no issues with my PalPal Account. I'll try again later. Thanks for the heads up!
That is the issue I was having. I sent the seller a message, which is PayPal and then I was able to FINALLY buy two. Now I am locked out again. I wonder if this has something to do with it: "PayPal reserves the right to delay or decline purchases for any reason. Limits may apply to the amount and number of Digital Gifts you can buy. Electronic delivery only." Just read that in the PayPal terms. All else fails follow directions...

Here is a link to a Baltimore News report about the Pride returning early. It has a video of the "Fun" ;) they were having sailing thru the storm.

On my first two cruises I booked directly through Carnival. For my upcoming two I learned about a travel agency (online) that was offering On Board Credit as a perk. (Due to the CC TOS I am not permitted to give you the name of the Agency). I can tell you when "interviewing" the Agent I had already booked through a PvP at Carnival and she let me know that was not an issue, that I could transfer the booking to her and still get the OBC offer. The offer is based on the price of the cruise and was quite substantial. Additionally I get to keep the OBC that Carnival was offering which was $50. The way I see this is my PvP gets the "Productivity" bump, the Agent gets commission and I get free OBC. The only catches, are you have to work through your TA to make any changes to the booking (you can still use the Carnival Website for anything you would normally do, funshops, checkin etc). If you booked with price protection and you find a price drop you need to compare the new rate vs the possible OBC loss if you take it. Here is the article I started with, http://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=1749 The best advice I can give is if you are interested in exploring other booking options and decide to look at Travel Agents then interview several and see who fits your wants and needs. I interviewed several before I landed with the Agency I chose.

If water did come in from the weather decks (outside) then went down to the lower decks via whatever means then that has happened before on other ships. Not much watertight integrity on anything above the waterline on cruise ships. Now if there was, for whatever reason, a actual flooding situation below Passenger Deck 1 that would be another situation entirely. I have been looking at the reported sea states during the time the Pride was sailing north and only saw 20ish foot swells reported in her route. I cannot imagine the Pride cannot take 20 ft swells without flooding, I guess if balcony doors were left open and not secured that could be a way or she was not bow first into the swell and caught some broadside. The could be a way and would make for an interesting ride. In any case Wow.

Unfortunately the timing just isn't right. We leave at 4 and the 3 hour resort dives all seem to leave at 1. Maybe I will just have to get certified and go book a cruise for next year.
Hello Miss Kellybean
I would suggest just what you said. Getting your certification is a smart way to go. There are a lot of benefits to doing this. I am not sure what they teach you during the one day class but I do know that during certification courses they instruct you on all aspects of diving. (Dive tables, Nitrogen Narcosis, Buddy Breathing, Proper descent and ascent etc) I have been certified for over 30 years and there are a lot of considerations when diving.:) Most Dive Shops have an Introduction Course that usually is one evening with a little classroom and then off to the pool to try out the gear. Just my two cents.

And wouldn't you know it, that's what I really want to use it for. lol Finally was able to score a couple, I'm sure we can used them for something while onboard.
Thanks MtnDweller, I guess the PayPal rep was not correct, after doing some research I think I have figured out what the issue is. I am pretty sure that I have to have my bank account linked. Now just to wait until it activates.
-
No I do not. I brought that up to PayPal and the rep said that was not an issue. It's all good. I have gotten free money in the past so this time, not my turn. lol
-
So after being on the phone with Ebay and them saying it was a Paypal issue I called Paypal. Only change now is I have to go through more steps for it to give me the same issue. Guess it was not meant to be.
-
In case anyone else is having issues with this, I am on the phone with E-bay now. They are trying to figure out what is wrong. When I get an answer I will post in this tread.
-
You will need to check out using PayPal and possibly PayPal credit. That is my default so I haven't tried it any other way.
Other times when I would order larger amounts I would get errors too, but not this time. Just keep trying.
Thank you. I have my CC tied to Paypal but no Paypay credit. That must be the issue. Again, thank you.
-
I keep getting an error when trying to check out. Any ideas?

Looks like the Pride is sailing in about 4-5 ft waves in the Chesapeake Bay and 27 knot winds from about 331 degrees (sailing into the wind). I am no meteorologist but to looks like the center of Hermine will be well off to the east of the mouth of the Bay. Should not be too bad sailing out. If you are curious where she is now here is a link https://www.vesselfinder.com/vessels/CARNIVAL-PRIDE-IMO-9223954-MMSI-354215000 In case you are wondering to convert UDT to EST subtract 4 hours.
Have fun, can't wait to sail on her in October.

Good question. Only thing I have found is this https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2541/kw/weather%20alerts I will be interested to know as well.
Cruise directors - new carnival list

We had Leigh on the Pride on October of 2016. He was great! A definite plus for Carnival. We have Anthony Cutajar this September on the Pride. Anyone know anything about him? Thanks
