I figured there would be more than just 2. There were 2 formal nights on our 8 day cruise.

I think you would enjoy option 3 Western. There are lots of nice excursions at those places. We did the Secret River inside pitch black caverns in Cozumel last year. This year we are doing the Chichen Itza mayan ruins via airplane. Roatan Island (Mahogany Bay) is a beautiful island with lots to do and see. Belize has the second largest barrier reef to go snorkeling or diving. Lots of options and you won't be disappointed.

It's pretty much anything but T-Shirts, shorts and flip flops. Some people dress up while others are more casual with a polo shirt. Due to my father's medical condition, he wears what's comfortable to him which is button collar shirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes. Same with the steakhouse restaurant.

I agree about liking the Dream. I have only cruised out of New Orleans and we've tried the main 3 lines Carnival, Royal and Norwegian. Honestly, I liked Carnival as much or more than the others. Just my opinion. We've done the Breakaway this last year and it was fun and all, but I'm looking forward to not having to schedule every show or specialty restaurant meal. (It would be nice if Carnival would have an O'Sheehans type of limited 24 hour restaurant though. We really enjoyed that.) Well, I'm looking forward to reading the rest of your review. We'll be on the Glory for our 10th Anniversay in June.
That's awesome and congrats! We are spending our 10th Anniversary on the Glory this February.

It's also best to head straight to the Shore Excursion Desk when you first board and reserve a spot as they sell out fast.

Greetings fellow travelers. Just finished the NYE cruise on the Glory out of New Orleans. If anyone's interested in this review, here's the space to watch for the next few days as I get home and start posting pics. I've got tons and tons of ship, location and food pics. I tried to concentrate on things I don't see pictures of here often.
Just like in the comedy shows, I'll warn you that this review is hopefully full of humor and sarcasm. If you're easily offended, you might not love it. Or something like that.
For reference you can see my last review in my post history.
We leave on the Glory next month. Looking forward to your cruise review.

The Legend was my first cruise ship! Would love to sail on her again. Glad she's back in the USA. Have a great cruise!

It's bad enough to have a rum and pepsi but to add a paper straw to it is ridiculous.

Looks like it's down again! Just tried to logon several times.

I've never bought it. Considering getting it for the first time for my March cruise. It's a 5 day vs. 7, so it won't cost us as much overall and may be a good chance to try it out.
The way I look at it is kinda like the dining plan at Disney which I am a big fan of. You don't always save, or break even actually, but I love not having to worry about what I'm spending while on vacation. I'm a big fan of prepaying for as much as possible.
I don't drink much on cruises, but it isn't because I don't want to. It's because I'm cheap. I feel like I'd enjoy myself more with Cheers. We'll see.
We did the deluxe dining plan last time at Disney World and we came out waaaay ahead for what it cost us. We quickly discovered with the extra dining points they give you can eat at the very nice expensive restaurants around the parks. We added up the saved receipts at the end of trip and came out about $700 ahead including the dining costs. Loved it and will do again.

Thanks for the info TN. Are the $15 bags good size for a load? I guess what I'm asking is do you feel you got your money's worth and would do it again? We are just making sure we budget properly for these last little details for this cruise. Thanks again!

Hello, We usually pack enough clothes to last us 7 days on regular cruises but this time we are doing a 14 day Journeys cruise. Trying to figure out how much it costs to have them do laundry vs self serve. 2 adults and 1 child. Also, are the self serve laundry open 24 hour?

The last few times I went to Alchemy, they didn't have Blanton's 😞
Yikes! Guess I was lucky. Alchemy on the Dream had it for Thanksgiving '18 cruise. We fixing to do our first Journeys cruise next month on Glory. Hope they have it there. If not then I see the Steakhouse in my near future. Hate that it's hard to find.

The steakhouse bar has Blanton’s.
The Alchemy bar also has Blanton's. I'm pretty sure I drank most of the bottle on the Dream. Every time I showed up he knew to grab it and it had the same amount as when I left before. 🙂

Some of the excursions will go on sale once in while. We got a sale deal on our Jamaica excursion for our cruise coming up next month.

We've thought about YTD but since we normally like to eat early (between 6:00 and 6:30) and go to shows and comedy club later, we just stick with the early dining. Plus, the wait staff gets to know what we like and have most things ready to go when we get there. I definitely see the pro and con for both.

I don't really care for being on a schedule either, but I hate waiting around even more. Because of schedules, we want to be out of dinner by 7-7:30. love my 6 pm dining. Your table of 6 will always be ready, and you will have a better relationship with your wait team than with YTD.
We are the same way. Plus, we do develop a great relationship with our wait staff and they will have our drinks, etc ready to go when we get there.

No regrets here. Wife and I love the Cheers Program! It's more of a peace of mind to us because we not only use it for the alcohol but for waters and soft drinks as well and don't have to think about how much we spent. I know I make my 5 drink minimum on port days and then some on most days. Wife doesn't drink as much and will sometimes use some of her drink purchases to give to family/friends on cruise that may want a drink. Yes, you can share if you're willing to wait the 5 mins.

I know, lol. I love pina coladas, but they have way too many calories. So, nowadays-- two is my limit instead of one in each hand. 😜
I thought you got your name from the Garth Brooks song. I love that song. 🙂

Who would want to go on this ship before it is seriously worked over and made whole?
I would and still going in a month. It's just a "fender bender". Only the back corner of the main dining room affected. Not a deal breaker at all.

We always get Cheers for the piece of mind plus our daughter gets a lot of water and coke drinks with it. One thing to beware. At the end of our last cruise I was checking the bill of all our purchases and there was a $15 bar charge from MDR on one of the nights. I had to go to guest services to have it taken off because they somehow didn’t charge to cheers. We drank every night in MDR but just had that one night of mistake on our bill so please check over everything because mistakes can be made.

We prefer early dining at 6pm. That way we can just concentrate on shows, comedy and whatever other night activities on board.

Did y'all try the Dining Room in the evenings instead of the buffet? Wife and I never do the buffet but do enjoy the Dining Room. Also, if you get something you don't like in the Dining Room just order something else and if ya find something ya do like, you can order as much as you want. I always start off every evening with 3 shrimp cocktails. :)
How many formal nights on a 14 day Journey Cruise

Thanks for the clarification. We are doing our first 14 day cruise next month out of NOLA. 🙂
