  1. We have never had to fly to a port for a cruise. We are thinking of leaving out of Florida, we live in Texas. If you fly do most people arrive the day before? And what about your flight home, same day you arrive in port or the next day? What's best do you think?

  2. Ship and itinerary don't exactly matter for your requirement. From what I've gathered on my 18 cruises is this.

You said when school is deep in session for the area. End of September to beginning of December (not thanksgiving). Or mid to late January to May (leave out end of march till easter which is usually spring break somewhere). Pick a cruise that is at least 7 nights long. I would also hazard that you fly to Miami/Fort Lauderdale and pick one of those ports as they are generally ports where cruise passengers tend to fly to (commute) and even less likely to have kids (but i could be wrong here or it might not be necessary).

I went on a similar 9 night itinerary out of Baltimore. In February and in July of this year. Night at day. In February, there were hardly any kids. There were hardly anyone under 50 as well. In July, there were kids everywhere. It wasn't bad. They were well behaved for the most part. You could tell the energy level was totally different.

Awesome thank you. I was thinking like last week of August cause most schools are starting back or even last few weeks of May cause they usually have the testing in schools in May and not many kids will miss that. Plus those kinda work for us. In May I might miss a softball game for my oldest and August I would miss probably first day of school. So it's a have to pick. Now we're just trying to figure out from where we're leaving and where we're goin. If we want to pay extra to fly or not etc. thanks though. Everyone thanks your suggestions have helped.

  3. Understand...........but it is an awesome itinerary!! Try one of the Oasis class that does 7 day Eastern to St Thomas and St Martin.............awesome ports.

Awesome. I think when my kids are older we could do a longer one, but it's hard for me to leave my babies. My cousin told me not to get the Internet package and only call home via wifi when we're in the countries with free wifi that way we're not miserable all week missing them.

  4. Check out the Serenade 10 and 11 day itineraries out of Ft Laud. You won't be disappointed.

I would love that but worried that's to much time away from kids. Youngest is 2 and I have only spent 1 night away from her. Her daddy has only been away from a few days

  5. A lot more information is needed in order to help pinpoint a good cruise. What activities do you enjoy? What sort of price range are you wanting to stay within? How long? What have you enjoyed on previous vacations without kids? Etc etc.

A good travel agent can have these conversations with you and help guide you in the right direction.

Yea I contacted mine from Royal and asked her.

  6. OK - Got it! Thought you meant since you were traveling without your children, which cruise line options would be best without many kids on board as well.

Basically all of them would be good without children IMO. :)

Oh no I have no fantasy that there will be. O kids lol. I don't mind other people's kids if mine aren't around. Thank you though.

  7. I second the vote for a souther since you have done Western. I would ask what did you like and dislike about the two lines you were on? Would you want to do either without the kids? What do you want your vacation to look like - late night dancing and drinking or specialty dinners and relaxing time on your balcony?

If we were choosing a week long cruise without our kids, it would be Princess. It's a more. Relaxed and classic cruise experience. We would enjoy dressing on formal evening for nice date nights. But, we also have never done that...ever cruise we have taken so far without the kids has basically been a long weekend get away. We have finite vacation time and so take the big chunks with the kids.

  8. I really like Royal's solarium area with the pool at the back of the ship. I also like Carnival's serenity deck, but none of their ships in Galveston have a pool in the serenity area.

If you are willing to fly to Florida, we really liked the Aruba, Curacao, Dominican Republic, Grand Turk itinerary. We did that back when Breeze was there. Plenty of Carnival & Royal ships to choose from down there as well. If itinerary doesn't matter, maybe try one of Royal's Oasis class ships.

Have you thought about Bermuda? We haven't made it there yet - the one trip we booked got rerouted due to a hurricane, so we had a couple of days in Nassau instead.

If you aren't interested in the physical activities (slides, rock walls, etc.) & just want to relax, Regal Princess is a nice ship with an adult pool area.

    Awesome thanks.

  9. What time of year are you thinking of cruising? Are you only looking for hot, tropical weather or are you open to anything? We really enjoyed our Pacific coastal cruise that started in Vancouver and ended in LA. We have also done NE?Canada a couple of times and are looking at possibly doing that again this fall. Bermuda is another beautiful place to consider. Alaska is another option, we are doing that in May.

Yea tropical weather. Do not want to do any cold. Umm time of year not sure on exactly yet. Have to look at that.

  10. Carnival Vista in a Havana cabin. If you want something closer to home, a spa cabin on the Breeze. Both of them would be great ships and cabin types.

  11. Most cruise lines will have families with children, but cruise lines such as Celebrity and (in particular) HAL cater to more of an adult demographic. But the best way to minimize the amount of children on board is to avoid cruising in the summer and Holidays when the children are out of school.

Also avoid short itineraries such as 3-4 nights as they tend to be more of a party cruise. Longer itineraries, such as at least 7 night or longer, also tend to have lest children Itinerary choice in terms of location is not much of a factor as families cruise on all itineraries.

Departure ports other than Galveston are not more or less expensive but the Florida ports will offer more selection in terms of cruise lines, ships, and itineraries. But travel expenses to them if are closest to Galveston will factor into the cost.

Thank you. Not worried about other people's children just not taking ours this time.

  12. It sounds like you are ready for an Eastern Caribbean itinerary, or perhaps Southern. We love San Juan, St. Maarten, St. Thomas and Half Moon Cay. You'd probably have to sail from Miami or Ft. Lauderdale though. Not sure if flying is a problem for you or not.

We could fly or even drive no biggy there will look into that.

  13. The suggestion to Europe is very logical. But if that's too far etc, I suggest the Southern Caribbean. The southern itinerary is absolutely wonderful.

Which one is that?? What places cause I have done all caribbean out of Galveston. Only trip out of Galveston I haven't done is Bahamas (on 7 days) and I want to go to more than just Mexico. Honestly a little over Mexico

  14. Pretty difficult/impossible to answer without knowing what factors are most important. Price? Convenience of departure port? Ship? Ports of call? Specialty restaurants? Entertainment?

Not counting our upcoming Alaska cruise which is most definitely based on location, DW and I have no problem repeatedly going back and forth between eastern and western Caribbean on whatever ship is based out of Port Canaveral b/c it's only an hour drive for us, but everyone has different priorities so it would be helpful to know yours.

I like to comedy club offered on Carnival and I want new places. Speciality dinning don't care about, I loved the carnival Magic, and royal Liberty of the seas.

  15. My Husband and I are wanting to go on a cruise just the 2 of us. No children or anything. We have a 9 year old and a 2 year old. We do not get a lot of time by ourselves and never have been on any kind of vacation by ourselves. I have been on Carnival 3 (with and without kids) times and Royal 1 time (with kids). He had been on Royal only 1 time and we had the kids. My question is what's the best for us to go on with no kids in your opinion ? We live in Texas but what boat and trip would your recommendation also (I have done Jamaica, caymans, Cozumel and Belize, Roatan, and Cozumel several times) and we plan on doing Bahamas on Carnival from Galveston in summer 2019 with the kids and Go thanks.
