  1. We are interested in a Northern Europe cruise with Princess for 2018 and had made the usual searches on the web to discover prices for our favoured cabin.

However, we decided to visit the London Cruise Show this weekend, having been before it was possible there may be some deals to be had.

On arrival at the show, we went to the Princess display and discussed our requirements. Sadly despite the fact that we had already in hand a low deposit future cruise deposit, despite being gold members and Captains Circle members, there was not only no deals at all, but found that over the last 48 hours, Princess had increased its prices in sterling by 10%.

Princess offered anyone at the show low deposit and ship board credit, exactly what we were given for putting our deposit down on our last cruise in 2016.

Our cabin had increased by over £200 each. Its possible these increases could be associated in the lower value of Sterling or the usual increases in cabin prices.

Some of the other cruise companies did have deals, such as discounts, drink packages or parking.

Harsh lesson, will book as soon as possible in future.

We went to the cruise show yesterday. Im glad we got free tickets as it was a bit of a waste time! We went with some friends who are looking to book and they got some ideas with was good for them.

We already have 2 cruises booked so we were looking for a bit extra from the show other than the opportunity just to book a trip.

I overheard a Princess cruise rep say that their cruises are flying off the shelf at the moment so they dont see any need to do any discounts. Apparently the only thing they are struggling to sell are the Med cruises.

They also dont have their late 2018 brochure out until March - i thought a preview would have been available as there was a captive audience there.

I think its a shame that P&O werent there and that they do a different show.

We wont be rushing back to next years show!

  2. Morning all

does anyone know if once booked you can change your chartered flight? We are currently booked with Thomson but considering changing (if we can) to Thomas Cook. Whilst I appreciate that actual aircraft sometimes have to be changed at the last minute for usually technical issues - I am not liking that P&O are changing from the Dreamliner in advance rather from necessity.

Anyone got any thoughts on the pros and cons of Thomas Cook too?

    Thanks

  3. Hi. Just a quick update on the rose situation. It hasn't affected our holiday. Yes the instruction was to just give roses to the women. No worries. We received a bottle of Lanson Black Label and chocolate covered strawberries as a gesture of goodwill. Thanks P&O.

Having a great time despite both having a bit of a cold. Stephen will do more updates tomorrow as it's another sea day :D

Glad you were OK in the end and that P&O resolved the situation to your satisfaction.

I find champagne smoothes out most of my issues 😂😂😂.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday and looking forward to more updates. X x

  4. Or just go on a ship tour in Southampton if you can. (I know its not easy for everyone but we like to make a weekend of it!).

We did a ship tour of Arcadia before our first ever cruise - on her to the Fjords.

We are going again to see Britannia in April with friends. We are booked on Brittania in Jan 18 and our friends want to try a cruise.

Makes for a great day out.

  5. My birthday on 6th January but not a big one this year! Are you flying on the 5th or 6th from Gatwick? We fly on the 5th so I can have my birthday in Barbados.

I started a roll call for our cruise last week.

    Sue

Birthday is the 3rd (50th:eek:), overnight at Gatwick on 4th and fly on the 5th.

We decided we'd prefer the extra day at the start of our holiday.

How exciting to celebrate while your away - its soo expensive for us to be away on our birthdays as DH is 1 Jan!!!

Have you any plans for the day itself? You'll be up nice and early :o

I'll check out the roll call x x x Thanks for the heads up x

  6. Thanks everyone, I've just found out I can redeem my Tesco vouchers so that takes it back down to what it was.

I have read elsewhere that you dont get the "standard" price if you use Tesco Vouchers - may not be 100% correct but id double check first (Im sure you would though ;))

  7. Loving your reports - a taking notes for when we go to the caribbean in Jan :D

I too wouldnt let the rose incident spoil your holiday - I cant see why you think it is against equality regulations and wouldnt work myself up about it.

If the staff were told to give roses to women thats what they did (although I have no idea what they were told!)

If you are treated differently at other times, dinner, drinks at the bar etc then I would say there is a cause for concern but as they more than likely didnt know their personal situation I wouldnt worry about it.

I can see anyone deliberately laughing at you - why would they risk their jobs over it? Maybe you're just being a tad over sensitive?

Enjoy the rest of your trip.:D

Sorry - cant edit my post.

It should read I CANT see why anyone deliberately laughing at you.

    Sorry

    Enjoy x

  9. I just looked at the 2 cruises we have booked, they have both risen in price and the OBC is less than we have. I guess the cruises are just filling up. The cruise that we have booked for March is actually £150 each more for a saver price than we paid for select.

Our carribean cruise next Jan has gone up by around £800 overall since we booked it.

  10. Are alcoholic drinks free if you have booked premium, I was lead to believe this was the case, if not why are they charging £299? , cheers David

Taken from the P&O Brochure... from the side of my sofa:D

"Flights to and from Barbados include complimentary in-flight meals. Passengers upgrading to Premium Economy also benefit from complimentary drinks (excluding sparkling wine and champagne)"

    Hope this helps

  11. We did a Fjords cruise on Arcadia last September- loved it.

We had 5 nights in the MDR - fixed dining at 630pm (2 formal nights) and other 2 nights we went to the buffet.

We had a table for 2 and were beside a much larger table. Some nights there were maybe only 2 out of 8 on the big table.

I don't know if you could do anytime as well as fixed....

Someone with far more experience than me will be along soon.
