  1. My wife and I are newbies to cruising, 1st cruise next month, and neither of us are scared to death. Can you please show us where the reports are of newbies being scared to death ? I am not trying to be a smarta$$. I am just saying.

Every time we discuss cruising with anyone, it is the first thing out of their mouth. "aren't you afraid of falling off?"

  2. You sound like a lovely young lady and to purchase a cruise for your boyfriend is a very nice gift. May I suggest you do some research and tons of reading here. You state that you can spend $1500MAX. Have you also considered all of the extra money that is entailed in cruising? Transportation, parking at the port if you are driving. Tips for taxis, shuttles and port servers. Gratuities to the staff on the ship (which is added to your account). Drinks, cocktails and other things I cannot think of right now. Cruising is not cheap. Please take a little time and do a little research before committing to anything. You should really speak to a travel agent in your town also. I wish you the best of luck.

  3. Good morning. I hope someone can answer my question. There is a cruise that we are looking at. It is offered this year and next year for the same approximate time. The price is almost the same for 2018 and 2019. We are unable to go this year, but they are offering 2 perks. The one for next year is only offering 1 perk. If, by chance they have a sale offering 2 perks after I book, will I be entitled to it? Thank you for any info.

  4. If I am understanding you correctly, it is not cruising you hate, it is the situation and destination. In other words, "been there, done that".

Seems to me this is something very important to your boyfriend and has even written a great review sailing with his first wife and children?

I just think relationships are all about compromise. Hopefully you will give this more thought and change your mind. It sounds like this means a lot to him. Good luck to you.

  5. Thanks for the advice! I will check with my husband.

I HIGHLY recommend renting the golf cart, as you can go all over the island and do as you please, when you please. We stopped many times to take in the sites and take pictures. Every once in a while, we saw divers/snorkelers in very small groups. There was no place that was crowded. We loved Bonaire and would love to return. I think that the golf carts enhanced the trip 10 fold. Worth every penny, and believe me, I am cheap! Lol Read my thread "So much Fun" for info.

  6. There is a ship named "World"something, because it cruises all over the world. It is a ship with only condo suites. People buy the suite (for a lot more than $100,000!) The passengers decide which ports to go to all over the world. A lot of the condos can be rented when owners are not on the ship. There is a kitchen in each suite but you can eat in the dining room if you want to. Try Googling World ship and see what comes up, or ask about it here on CC.

You are so right. There is actually a documentary that I saw a couple of years ago on the WORLD. Fascinating. If I remember correctly, you had to have XMillion dollars in your bank account to purchase one. I am sure you can google the documentary.

  7. If you are doing Captain Marvins (outstanding). His office is two blocks from the pier. You just walk there when the ship is cleared to get off the ship.

You check in at the office and everyone just hangs out until everyone is checked in. They have their own shuttle buses that take you to the boats. They know what time your ship is pulling in. Believe me, they know what they are doing. Don't fret.

  8. Probably because they’re trying to decide if it’s similar to the Caribbean and worth the extra money to see another island. But it’s definitely not the same.

Thank you for answering the question, since the OP has not. I politely disagree with your response though, as living in Florida has nothing to do with it. I have been to the Caribbean dozens of times and have been to Hawaii 3 times. Her question is directed at people that live in Florida. I do not, so I therefore am not qualified to answer the question?

  9. If the OP wants to simply focus on cash, that is really not a problem in this day of the ATM machine :). However, we would strongly suggest having a back-up and perhaps a back-up to the back-up. For example, DW and I carry 3 different ATM/Debit cards....each of which is drawn against an account in a different bank. So if something happens to one or even two of those cards we still have an additional source of cash. And, in a worst case scenario if somehow all 3 of those cards ceased to function, the emergency back-up would be a cash advance (you can get this at any bank) from one of our major credit cards.

To be honest, dealing with cash needs on a cruise (even a world cruise) is much easier then on long independent land trips. Once aboard the ship, credit and debit cards are locked securely in our safe (not always possible on land trips). And when we go ashore, we only take the cards we need...leaving the remainder (and back-ups) securely in the safe. A bigger concern for us is keeping our Passports totally secure...which can sometimes be a challenge.

Great advice. Do you take your passports off the ship? This is such a controversial topic.
