  1. We are on a MSC Cruise out of Miami on feb 11. we land in Miami Airport 16,15, which means that we have 2 nights in Miami. I enjoy South Beach, but my wife and daughter would like to go to Sawgrass Mills, so expect that most of the day will go with that. I have looked at Seagull Hotel in South Beach and Leamington in Downtown. Any advices to which of them I should choose or avoid? And does anyone have a tip to transport to and from Sawgrass Mills?

  2. Hi

Cruised a month a go in the med on Splendida (balcony and allegrissimo). This was our first cruise and we loved it :-)

We have now booked Divina from Miami on feb 11 and this time we are bringing our 17 year old daughter. Also balcony and allegrissimo this time :-)

I understand that there might be some differences on the caribean cruises compared to med ones, so what differences can we expect?

  3. No, it does not include flights. It's a cruise from Port Canaveral on february 12. What I'm concerned about is the cabin where I don't know which one we will get and the drinks package. Not that I'm a big drinker, but I do appreciate wines for the dinner and a few drinks during the night. I really enjoyed that I could just order what I wanted on Splendida

  4. Hi

We recently came back from our first cruise: MSC Splendida where we had balcony and allegrisimo drinking package. We had a fantastic holiday.

Now I've received an offer with RCL on a cruise in the Caribean with Oasis of the Seas. The offer is outside balcony (unspecified), tips is included and also $150 for the whole cabin. However the drinking package is quite expensive.

Bottomline: Will I regret this cruise with these choices compared to Splendida?

  5. Thanks for all your comments. We are only able to travel in week 7 and Divina is almost sold out. Only Inside cabins available. Were looking for cruises around Dubai in stead, but they are too expensive, so we decided to wait untill late june or early july and look for a good offer in either Caribean or Mediteranean

  6. Hi

Came back from our first cruise a few weeks ago. It was fantastic. We sailed the Splendida in a balcony cabin and had allegrissimo drink package.

Now we are looking to book again in february, but prices are very high. Guess that it must be high season in the Caribibean and around Dubai? Unfortunately Divina from Miami on feb 11 have sold out all balcony cabins, so what we can get now is a Bella Oceanview. So my questions are:

Prices are a lot lower in inside and oceanview, but will we regret that choice?

Is Bella ok? I'm concerned that we can't get the first seating

We are travelling with a 17 year old child and MSC have very great children discount, and we were very pleased with MSC so would prefer to be loyal, but having only week 7 to travel in, should I perhaps look at other lines?

  7. We are also located in Denmark, and booked through a German internet travel agent. That has worked out fine. I don't believe they will let you book though an MSC website that does not "belong" to your location, even though it is within EU. MSC has a strange policy here.

There is however one wierd issue:

    - When we log on to the Danish MSC website with the booking ref., the booking will not show.

    - When we log on to the Danish website Voyagers Club area, the booking comes up, but we cannot manage it (book shore excursions, drink package, etc.)

    - When we log on the the German MSC website there are no limitations. The booking shows up, and we can manage it.

By the way.... Leaving in three weeks time :)

Daneviking: I wanted to send you an PM, but can't see how to do it, so can you please reply to me on email (haulund1@mailme.dk)? I would like to know if you can recommend a german travel agent and how much you saved on booking in Germany in stead of Denmark?

    Thanks

    Joern

  8. Are there any way that I can book my next cruise on an MSC site from another country? Prices are better and benefits bigger in most countries other than Denmark, so would like to book from one of the other sites, but is it possible?

  9. Thanks for all the replies.

I found out that we will dock at pier 1 in Malaga.

The room service is obviously not that interesting, but never mind, if I want a drink in the room I will go and get it in a bar and bring it to the room (can smoke at the same time).

I will use the trick with steam from the shower, but does anyone know the price for ironing a shirt?

Regarding want to wear, I will bring clothes for summer and autum :-)

Is there anywhere I can see what time we will pass Gibraltar? Would like to see it in daytime

  10. Hi

In a few days we board the Splendida on our first cruise. I have a few questions:

I read that some get cabin upgrades. If we are upgraded would they have told us so allready or will we be told when we board?

We have a balcony cabin (12208) with fantastica and have upgraded to All inclusive restaurant and bar drink package, but i'm confused about the free roomservice. Can I order a drink from one of the bars and have it delivered in my cabin?

The ship departs from Barcelona at 20,00 and we arrive at 14,00. Our plan is to take a taxi from the airport to the ship. If we do, will the buffet be open? or is it better to take the train to the city centre, have lunch and then a taxi to the ship?

In Malaga, we are meeting with a friend. Does anyone know which pier we will dock at?

I understand that irons are not allowed on board. Are they strict about that? or is it just a way for the to get us to pay for ironing?

Finally, the hardest question ;-) : I have absolutely no idea about what to pack. I know that Marseille and Genoa are not warm, but Malaga, Casablanca and Lissabon I'm unsure about. am i too optimistic if i hope that i can spend the days at sea by the pool?

  11. Thanks for all the replies.

As mentioned, I don't think that we will have problems, but now I know what to do if it happens - And in worst case the travel insurance covers new clothes etc

  12. Hi

    Just wondering:

We are boarding MSC Splendida in Barcelona. Have booked flight with Lufthansa from Copenhagen with only 40 minutes transfer in Zurich. What happens if our bags don't arrive in time in Barcelona? In a normal holiday they will just deliver the bagage to the hotel, but what do they do when it's a cruise and if the ship has left Barcelona when the bags arrive?

Off course I'm trusting that this will not happen, but would just like to know what to do in worst case scenario ;-)

  13. Hi

Going on my first cruise next month. We have booked a balcony cabin and are very thrilled to experience our first cruise.

I am a smoker and have some questions. I would really enjoy having my morning cigarette on the balcony. How strict are the crew (and how can they see that I have been smoking there)? Is smoking allowed in the bars?

I see that there is a duty free shop. Do they sell danish cigarettes (Prince)? and how are the prices?

One more thing: We have upgraded to the allegrisimo adult. Does that include roomservice from the bars or is it only breakfast?
