Just got off the Sunshine. The Serenity area is nice. Looks just like the photos. Nice, chill vibe. The pool is small and people really just lounge on the edge. Only problem: the pool and hot tub are on different levels. So if you're on the pool deck but want to have a hot tub, you need to hike up the stairs to the upper level. Not a major issue.
Any issues with the comments made about --- Deck 4 smells of sewage, as do some other parts of the boat, unfortunately.

I am on the Sunshine presently, and the serenity area is first rate.

So if you can get on the Legend instead, do it.
Well that sure is not good.

What time did you get to terminal 5? Was off loading your luggage and then parking easy. I was going to do this on our May trip.
-
Yes, thanks for the review. But it does not make me feel this this will be a fun 8 days when we go this May. We have been sailing on NCL the last 6 times and thought we would give Carnival another chance. Might of been a mistake.
I usually do the self park at terminal 10 (NCL) and had no problems. Was going to do the same for terminal 5 (Carnival). Another concern for me after the review.

Strange .................... I did not have a good experience at Port Canaveral like others mentioned. We could not drive up to the Sunshine due to the traffic. You could get to the Magic, however, which was also at the pier.
There is more than one covered parking building. That first one was filled so they directed us to the next building. Then that one was filled so they directed us to the third building. Traffic was terrible trying to get their. Once in the third building, they said to leave the suit cases at the curb and proceed to the ship. That was a mistake. We are VIP and luggage is suppose to be expedited to your cabin. Our luggage got to our cabin at 10 pm.
Getting off the ship was just as bad. We were in the very first groups scheduled to leave. There really is only one set of esculators and they were jammed. Those with their luggage went first and there seemed to be a couple hundred cruisers. Finally our luggage came and we searched and searched until we could find one missing suitcase delivered almost last.
Now I know it is not easy to have 3,000 cruisers boarding or leaving a ship. That said, it was not easy, in fact, it was difficult. Compared to Ft Lauderdale or Miami, I would rate Port Canaveral as far worse.
When did you cruise out of Port Canaveral? Maybe they have improved as they get things worked out.

I think terminal 5 is even easier than terminal 10!!
You drop the luggage on the ground floor then drive up to higher levels to park !! Same building.
Thanks for the information. That is how we did it on terminal #10 with NCL.

We have sailed out of Port Canaveral on Carnival several times. It is SUPER easy! My husband wishes we could do every cruise out of Port Canaveral. Great directions to the garage. Park and just steps to the ship.
Do you drop luggage at the terminal then drive to the parking garage or is the luggage and garage parking in the same place, like terminal #10?
-
Looking for some comments about parking at the Carnival terminal parking garage. I have utilized the NCL terminal #10 parking garage and it was real ease. Not sure if that is worked the same with other garages. Has anybody parked at the Carnival terminal garages? If so what is the layout when driving up?

We will be going on our first cruise on the Magic in June. We will be staying overnight at a hotel on Friday night and our cruise leaves on Saturday. Trying to decide whether to do the park and cruise that some of the area hotels offer or just pay to park directly at the port. Cost is pretty much the same. Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated. :):):)
We have done the park at the terminal option with NCL. Worked out great both times. This May we will be going out on the Sunshine so will try that parking terminal for Carnival. If no issues then I feel this is the best option as you can make the embarkment and disembarkation at your own pace.
-
No, deck 5 near Ocean Plaza / Alchemy Bar if I remember correctly from June cruise. It was very good, no lines and a great alternative to the Lido Buffet on embarkation. Food reminded me very much of Guy's Pig and Anchor on other ships. This was the only day it was offered BTW.
Got it. Thanks

Was on the sunshine two weeks ago and on embarkation day there was a “bbq”
Of such for one of the two lunch options on deck 5. Enjoy. I really loved that cruise.

In Google Chrome, you can add an extension to view the photos posted in this thread - go to 'tools', then 'more tools', then 'extensions', then 'get more extensions', then 'fix photobucket hotlink fix', then click 'add to chrome' and it worked!
I saw this posted in another thread, tried it, and it worked for me.
Yes perfect, it works

The balcony on 6234 connects with the balcony of 6230.
This means if you had both of those rooms booked you could have the balcony partition open to share a common connecting balcony.
Ok thanks. Just don't want a connecting cabin. Had that once before and the noise from the connecting door was not appealing, if you now what I mean.
-
So is cabin 6234 a connecting cabin? Can't follow the link

Going May 5th. So it looks like the islands are all open for tourists? Any traveling restrictions on the islands?
-
Yes, shirt and tie (plus other clothing as you might normally wear, please!). Nice khakis or similar.
Tie is clearly optional, but I wore one.
Thanks for the tip on the pants. I might of missed that one. ;p

We are on desk 6 Mid. Same question as we are over the casino area. If anybody been on that deck, how is the sound?
-
So Carnival still does formal night. Dress shirt and tie is good for men right? Been on NCL last 6 cruises and formal night is very low key.

Sailed Dec 9th. Ate at Cagney's. Not impressed either. Ordered the Ribeye. A lot of fat on my piece and smaller than my wife's Ribeye. Hers was much better with little fat. Told maitre'd and he said they get the meat already cut. I guess pot luck for the customer.
-
Walk off was easy and fast. On the road by 8:36am, heading north.
-
Thanks for the great comments. We are sailing Dec 9th. Casino is our place. Cagneys is on the list and I think the lobster will be requested. This will be our second sailing on the Epic.

Check out the latest Norwegian Cruise Line news from Cruise Critic:
Sound good. Will NCL announce when the other ships, like Epic, Gem, etc, have this new app next year?
-
Looks like the Beatles show at the Cavern is no long. Great show last year.
I see the shows listed now. Put my glasses on.

Hi, we are going out of Terminal 5 this May. Same question for this terminal:
where do you drop your luggage? Do you just pull up , stop, and give them your luggage then park? Or do you park and give luggage to porters in the parking garage?
Terminal 10 was super easy. Hoping 5 is the same set up.
