  1. I located today’s menus -- Sorry, I'll try this again later
  2. Yes, we did. Nice touch. We are now well underway toward a unique full day in Victoria. I'm looking forward to see a lot of that city and meeting a couple of CCers
  3. 09/01/2024 Seattle, Washington 0700-1700 I had arranged for a shuttle to take us from the hotel to Smith’s cove. It was me, Sue, Steve, and Connie. The shuttle was scheduled to arrive at 11am. Sue texted me at a little before 10 that she had checked out and was sitting downstairs. I went down at about 10:15, Steve and Connie about 10:20. We had just settled down outside to sit and wait for the shuttle when I got a text that he had arrived. So at 10:41 we jumped into the SUV and had a nice ride to the pier. I had expected a bit of traffic due to activities, but we really didn’t encounter much. After wheeling our luggage into the building, we went to check in. The priority line was very short, and after filling out Canadian custom forms we were on our way to the ship. I dropped off my hand baggage and went to the Dive Inn for lunch, which was ordered by 12:15. After lunch, back to the cabin where I started getting things ready. My luggage was delivered at 1pm, and I got most things put away by 2 when it was up to the Sea View bar. I have encountered several people from previous long cruises, it seems there is a bit of a fraternity involved there. I have now completed the safety requirements and will head back to the Sea View at 4:30 for sail a way. Anyone aboard, please look for Santa and join me. Ship’s Officers Captain – Vincent Smit – Netherlands Cruise and Travel Director – Karlijn Verpalen – Netherlands Staff Captain – Leon Luncan – Romania Chief Engineer – Robert Vlaardingerbroek – Netherlands Environmental Engineer – Stephen Rockliffe – United Kingdom Hotel General Manager – Francois Birarda – France Assistant Hotel Manager – Johan De Vries – Indonesia Food & Beverage Manager – George Nurchandra – Indonesia Executive Chef – Noorul Ali – India Future Cruise Consultant – Melane Bruwer – South Africa Today’s Activities – It is now almost 4:30, and I'm headed for the SeaView pool for sail a way. Hope to see those aboard there!
  4. My group had an extremely easy check in. I had arranged for a shuttle at 11:00. We were all ready early and I got a text that the car had arrived about quarter till. We loaded up and had a comfortable ride to Smith's Cove. It is now 1pm, and we have checked in, boarded, had lunch, and my luggage just arrived. The only glitch I had was one I have had before. For some reason I am about 50% on the facial recognition deal. As has happened before, I had to have someone look at my passport and do the verification. After that it was smooth sailing. I have watched the Muster Video, and will visit my Muster Station shortly (not currently available) and then I'll be set for the rest of the cruise. I hope everyone continues to have a good labor day weekend
  5. 09/01/2024 Seattle, Washington 0700-1700 Good morning, it is embarkation day. Breakfast is done, and in a few minutes I will pack up everything that I have used over the past few days. I have a shuttle coming for four to take us to Smith’s Cove. We should arrive a little before noon, and hopefully the early birds will have cleared and be on the ship. It has been a very nice stay in Seattle over the past few days. The weather has been beautiful, and it has been very relaxing. While there is not much other than hotels around here, I did get a couple of good walks in. I met some nice people, and re-connected with a couple from a previous cruise. After a shower and repacking everything, I will go downstairs around 10:15 to check out and wait for the shuttle.
  6. Saturday Evening. It has been a very busy day today. I met up with Sue, Steve, and Connie who are also staying at this hotel and had a very nice conversation with them before heading across the street to the Silver Dollar Casino to meet up with Carolyn @Cruising-along and Henry. We had a very nice meal, mine was a french dip, others had fish and chips, and a blt. Everyone agreed that the food and service were both good. My French Dip - It appears we had a missed connection with Bruno @atexsix, I’m very sorry you made it to the restaurant and we didn’t have a chance to meet. Hopefully it will happen soon.
  7. Sorry we missed you. We had a group of six sitting near the back of the restaurant. Someone asked @Cruising-along if she was with Cruise Critic. That wasn't by chance you was it? We had a nice meal and a lot of good conversation. I think Carolyn will be posting pictures and comments on most of the meals so I will just post mine. I had a french dip with fries. It was excellent and the service was also very good again.
  8. 19222 International Blvd, SeaTac, WA 98188, in the middle of all the airport hotels
  9. It has been a while since I was ashore at HMC, but as I remember there was no POS on the island. Everything was written on multicopy receipts and then carried to the ship at the end of the visit.
  10. @AV8rix, @atexsix We are meeting at the Silver Dollar Casino around 5:30 if you can come by it would be great.
  11. Bruno, I haven't met you, but I think I would enjoy your company
  12. I think this was the port dropped when Bora Bora was added back
  13. Part of college game day has always been a drink with the game. 9am is a bit early for that. The other part is that with the first game starting at 9am more games will be shown before midnight.
  14. Sorry, I failed to mention that the person checking you in will print the boarding pass for you. I was just trying to convey the fact that you didn't need it before you got to the airport. In addition, some airlines/airports have a kiosk that will print your boarding pass after scanning your passport or dl.
  15. Just like the airlines, the people checking you in don't really need your boarding pass. They have all your information on their computer and can check you in with just your passport. For the most part they might glance at your boarding pass to get your name. I have checked in where they take my boarding pass and don't even look at it, getting my name from my passport. Your boarding pass may be more important to get into the building, but someone will have access to the manifest and be able to get you past that.
  16. 08/31/24 Seattle, Washington pre cruise Good morning. According to Navigator on my phone this morning, our adventure begins at midnight tonight. That would be nice, however tomorrow at noon boarding the ship will be fine. We will be leaving the hotel at 11 and I believe it should take about 30 minutes to get to the pier. This morning is College Game Day, followed by football from 9:00am to Noon. A friend will be arriving then, followed by dinner with Seattle friends. Maybe a little more college football after eating. I hope everyone has safe travels today, and no delays arriving in Seattle. See everyone tomorrow!
  17. After I wrote the previous entry I did a little checking and found this out and it wasn't the place I was thinking about
  18. 08/30/24 Seattle, Washington pre cruise Another lazy day with a late start. I did manage to sleep until almost 5:30. Maybe tomorrow I’ll make my normal 6am. Breakfast wasn’t as crowded as yesterday, but more than I would have expected. I headed downstairs about 11am expecting to ask the front desk if the shuttle driver could take me to the train station, as happened when I stayed here a few years ago. I came to the realization that I wasn’t going to the train station. It seems another ship (or more) is leaving here today. There was a massive backup of people to get on the shuttle to in the lobby when I got downstairs. With that in mind, I took a walk in another direction. A short distance away, next to the 7-11 from yesterday was an Asian restaurant named Teriyaki. Further along is a Taco Bell and a Jack in the Box. I also saw a sign for Dave’s Diner and I walked a bit in the direction the sign said but I didn’t see it and it didn’t show up on Google Maps. It might be the diner I had a good meal at during my first visit to Seattle a long time ago. I ended up walking back to Teriyaki. This is a very small mostly take out restaurant. It only has two small tables set up as two tops for dining in. The menu is typical for this type of place, a bunch of pictures with prices. I ended up with Teriyaki Chicken which came with rice and cabbage. Drink, Meal, tip and all came out to $20, and portion was generous. The meal was very good, and extremely filling. Back at the hotel, there are still many people checking out with luggage that suggests going on a cruise. I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the day and the Labor Day holiday weekend.
  19. Thanks for the warning, but I expected this. Not necessarily corporate, but considering the timing and distance involved it is an easy thing to imagine.
