Since we are talking about Roller Coasters today, I'll mention two. When we first moved to Atlanta the Southeastern Fair and Exposition was in its hey day. I think it happened in late September, as we were in school but not for long. The big attraction was the Greyhound, a long, high, wooden Roller Coaster. I was a great ride. It was also featured in all three 'Smokey and the Bandit' movies and was destroyed (on purpose) during the filming of 'Smokey and the Bandit II'. All three films used Lakewood Fairgrounds for a location and were filmed in the Atlanta area. The second coaster is the Great American Scream Machine at Six Flags over GA. For a short while the year the coaster opened I worked at Six Flags. One morning before the park opened there was a call over the PA system for volunteers to test the ride. I was close enough to get there and was one of the riders. As we finished the loop we only slowed down in the station and went around twice more before we finally stopped and went back to our regular jobs.

Good Morning! In three short weeks I will be in Seattle to board Westerdam for the Majestic Japan Cruise. Sandi has volunteered to post the Daily while I am away. The schedule for the ships has already been loaded, based on current itineraries but will need to be adjusted as schedules change. The observance days are also loaded. This brings me to a request. Y'all may have noticed that some days there is a banner across the top with a significant holiday - think Christmas & Halloween. Because of search engine bias, my searches generally turn up US based answers. If some of our international readers would send me their major holidays, think Canada Day and ANZAC day, I would be happy to add them. I have one other request. Some holidays have a traditional meal, such as Easter Ham or Corned Beef and Cabbage on St Patricks Day. This year I would like to make a special effort to include such meals.
