RCL - Distilled Water?
Seville2Cabo replied to ParrotHeadCruiser1's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Coming from the Petrochemical industry, we had acres of cooling towers to chill our cooling water. How do you cool the cooling water on a ship. Always interesting to read your comments. We did a lot of the same things in our plants, but very differently for different needs (we consumed huge amounts of steam and very little electricity) -
You can't make these things up!!

For the germaphobes in the group..... I went to my club to work out the other day and there is an area for phone charging and to leave small stuff (keys). In the middle is a hole where to put your dirty towels. Walk up to leave and put my towel in the hole and there is a half eaten apple just sitting on the counter next to the towel hole. As I am standing there, someone comes up, takes a bite and puts it back on the counter and continues his workout. -
Unlimited Dining questions

We've never had a reservation for lunch on boarding day and never an issue getting seated. We go to which ever speciality restaurant is open, get seated and book our evening meals for the cruise. Usually wait to book sea day lunches the day before. Never an issue. But - here is a options for a new C&A Benefit. Pinnacle can book UDP reservations 10 days before sailing Diamond plus, 7 days Diamond - 4 days -
Man Overboard on Wonder of the Seas
Seville2Cabo replied to Cabana Girl's topic in Royal Caribbean International
So do cruise ships need permission to go thru Cuban waters? -
I have no data, but would guess that the workers on Royal make more money in the end. First, P&O tends to have more customers not accustomed to tipping and second, a hard worker on Royal will get additional cash tips that their P&O peer probably will not get (or not as much). Does this help Royal get better workers??

Sorry, but I have never seen a railing that a child could go under, let alone an adult. -

I cancel AA award tickets all the time and always get the miles and taxes back. I am Platinum Pro, do don't know if that matters. -

We did it on Radiance and really enjoyed it. Originally scheduled for 9:00, but they changed it to 1:00. Saw kitchen, laundry, food storage, crew area, control room and bridge.

Taste of Royal and Chef's Table

The menus are set and have not changed in a few years. However, if you have a specific need (allergy to shellfish, don't eat red meat, etc), they will make individual substitutions. You need to just tell them before time. Don't expect an entire menu change though. -
No, I wrote to the executive office and was told (see post 11) that as long as the solo parent's name is on the BC, you will be able to board. We travel in March. This is my daughter and granddaughter.
-
That is what the executive office told me as well. I do read of a lot of parens traveling alone with kids as one spouse is working, Never heard that they would need the notarized letter. I think the letter is if you are traveling with a minor with different last name and you are not on the BC as a parent.
-
We have a similar issue (daughter/Granddaughter) and before booking a family cruise, I asked Royal and here was the response. Thank you so much for your email and please accept my apologies for the delay in getting back to you. My name is Kaitlyn; I work in the Executive Office of Royal Caribbean. I am pleased to respond on behalf of our executives. If only one parent/guardian is sailing with their minor child with the child's proper travel documentation, a notarized letter from the other parent or legal guardian (divorced or not) is not required. However, some airlines do require such letters from the other parent/guardian to fly a child, particularly on international flights. If you are having to fly, I would check with the ariline. Should the last names of the parent and minor child traveling with them differ, the parent is required to present the child's proper travel documentation (valid passport book and visa (if required)) and the child's birth certificate (original or certified copy). The name of the parent and the child must be linked through bridging legal documentation. If she was not married to the father, I would assume her maiden name would be listed on her daughters birth certificate which would provide the verification needed.
