Hi,  I'm bringing this thread back up to ask if anyone here has sailed recently with having only received the Johnson & Johnson 1-shot vaccination.  It seems to me my daughter -who is going for her J&J shot on Monday- is worrying unnecessarily.  If she hears that others have not had any problems with Carnival allowing them to sail, she will stop worrying about it.

Yes it’s unnecessary to worry.. My wife traveled in August with the J&J.. People are causing panic for no reason…

  2. We are in a group and my son and his wife got upgraded from and inside to a balcony on deck 11 for an additional $240.  They needed up with a better balcony then we did for $500 cheaper then we paid for ours from the start.. On the 1/15/22 Magic. Gonna call and see if they will upgrade me too for free LOL

  3. OMG with the insanity here… There is no rules about boosters and 14 days.. I have to assume the agent mixed up booster and vaccine and conflated them into the same thing.. You must have your vaccine not any booster and if you got the booster it has no impact as to getting on the ship.. Calm down people… 😜😜

  4. We were on the Magic in August out of Port Canaveral and people had different check in times and weren’t set aside to wait.. They had to wait for their time to board which to me is all I care about…

I could see the complaints if boarding early was happening but it does not… I almost wonder if people are confusing check in vs boarding… Now I guess if you arrive with let’s say a 12:30 pm check in time at 11:30 am after boarding has begun then you could board ahead of someone with an earlier check in time but everything I have heard it usually walk right on by 11:30

  5. 9 months ago most of us would have taken a cruise with any restrictions.   If people wanna cancel because of a mask then go ahead but there’s too much whining about it.. I was on the Magic on 8/16 and I got the test and the restrictions on board were barely noticeable. There were no mask police and in fact even in the theater half the people had their masks off if they had a drink with not one comment made… It is what it is and if you think masking in an elevator or while walking to your table in a dining room is too much then by all means cancel because a 50% full ship was delightful. For the love of god stop complaint!!!!! LOL

We will be on the Sunrise in a couple of weeks. We are curious to know if you can get a day pass at the Bimini Hilton Resort or rent chairs and umbrellas somewhere else there. Thanks

We were in Bimini a few weeks ago on the Magic. Don’t waste your time at the Hilton beach(Beach 360). Rent a golf cart $50-$90 and explore the island and head to radio beach.. Much better and a beautiful beach… Plus you can explore the island. Very easy to get around and you won’t get lost..

    The perfect reply!  🙂

Our cruise next week is only 4 nights so we're hoping to get away with a wheeled carryon for each of us. We'll go straight to our cabin and drop them off so it shouldn't be a big deal.

If your keys are there yes but they aren’t always there much before 1:30… No keys you can’t drop off anything because u can’t get in.. Just be ok carrying around with you for a couple hours if you can’t get in..

So nothing says we have to board together.  So if I board and she no shows, how do they charge me double rate?  I understand none of the perks may be given, like OBC drinks, etc.. and that's fine.  But once I am on board and she doesn't show by cut off time, do they come get me or something?

No they will not.. We had an issue a few years ago where my daughter 18, my step daughter 21, and step son 17 were all sharing a cabin.. This was on NCL but the night before we were to board my Step kids had a family emergency and could not go. We knew there had to be a 21 yr old. In each cabin so we called to move me to that cabin on cruise day and they actually said my daughter could not board without the 21 yr old step daughter and that she couldn’t go. I was livid and decided to try and board her with me and got her on no problem.. They did realize by midweek that she was alone in her cabin and I had to say I was moving to her room which I never did.. Never kicked us off the ship or charged me extra..

They won’t bump your rate either because you paid for both of you even if the contract says so..

On Wednesday, I went to my local Walgreens and received my pre-cruise rapid test (since I am vaxed), test came back negative....YEA, I can cruise.

Showed up at Port Canaveral, presented them with; my passport, boarding pass, vax card, and pre-cruise test.  Well....there's a problem...oh NO.

Apparently, the test I received didn't report a few very important details for it to be acceptable for check in.  The email contained test results, but not additional pertinent information for the Carnival requirements for pre-screen process.  The test failed to have my name and birth date for them to process me.  Was ushered over to a holding area so that they could verify the information.  Basically, after waiting for 10mins, I had to log out of the test retrieval area (in my email) and log back into the site.  In order to log into the site (Walgreens reporting site), you had to enter your birthday.  I showed the agent, as I entered my birthdate, and was cleared to sale.

In short, make sure your test lists your name and birthdate on your test results or be prepared to have a slight hiccup in immediately getting on the ship.

Thought this experience might be helpful for some, so you don't unnecessarily start stressing out before your vacation.  I'm a go with the flow guy, so no stressing on my end and all the Carnival port people were super nice, but certainly something to keep in mind.

BTW....while in the holding area, there was a lady who was tested on Tuesday (4 days prior to sailing).  She had also tested negative, but was denied sailing because she didn't follow the instructions of testing NO MORE THAN 3 days from sailing.  So....be sure to read all the emails Carnival sends you on the exact requirements.

Just for others to avoid this… on the COVID testing page it spells out what needs to be on the test results..

Yep.  But the original post is about changing CCL's policies that do accomodate the group that I described.  That is CCL's demographic.

In his hypothetical that was the options for children and non vaccinated and there are real options.

Some people have children that do not have a standard school year plus children too young for school.  And these people might have been working all through the lock downs and would like a break such as nurses, court clerks, police, fire fighters, grocery store staff, etc.

They will take a break even if the cruise lines do not give them the option.  So should the cruise lines that normally thrive on this demo just abandon them?

Then travel on the cruises that aren’t 100% vaccinated and have mask rules

Agree with all except no masking in ports. The cruise line can't dictate that - impossible. If the port requires masks and you don't like it then don't get off the ship - easy solution. At least that way some people can get a break from the ship if they choose to. I wholeheartedly agree with the 100% vacc. though.

He’s saying don’t go to ports that make you mask… Problem solved..

Unfortunately in my area they are out of supplies for the rapid tests so both Walgreens and Legacy Go Health have no appointment available unless you are feeling symptoms.  While I won't judge anyone else for saying they are feeling symptoms in order to get a test, I simply don't feel that I would OK utilizing 3 tests when others who are sick actually need them.

I do have a PCR test scheduled for Wednesday but I am worried because they say results typically come within a day of when the samples are picked up.  If it is picked up on Wednesday, I should have results on Thursday but it could be on Friday.  Since my flight is on Friday, I'm nervous.

Does anyone have the link for where I can buy 3 of the Emed home tests?

All primary physicians will test you if you have symptoms no questions asked so I don’t feel bad in the least doing what I have to do to get my test covered at an urgent care or CVS/Walgreens. I didn’t create the situation that’s mandating I test before I go therefore I don’t feel bad using the system to my advantage to not have to pay.. I got vaccinated just so I could travel and now that’s not enough so no guilt on my end saying I have been exposed and have symptoms to not pay $300 for test for my wife and I..
