  1. Hello Kim, it's been a number of years for us, however, you may find this response helpful

Locate the nearest set of connecting cabins (designated with a double-sided arrow).

"Standing" in the hallway, the room on the right will have the bed near the slider.

The orientation alternates so just go down until you come to the cabin you are interested in and you will know if your bed will be near the sliders or near the bathroom.

  2. I'm just guessing and don't pretend to be a "weatherman", but given Hurricane Season runs through October, I would assume that the surface temperature of the Seas is quite Warm, 80's.

Just to be safe, pack a light sweater (how much room would 1 take), some people are more prone to a slight chill.

Check the Evening Temps for those Islands you'll be visiting, you'll have a good idea of the Air temperature that you'll likely encounter.

  3. I called their phone again today and it continues to say that they should be open September 13th, but I have yet to get an actual person on the phone there. The individual at the call center said that they would be open today. Still waiting to see which it is and will update when I have more info.

The message on their website has been there since at least Sunday and contradicts what their answering service and call center is stating.

I just called (9:08 a.m. CDT) the Hotel directly, and spoke to a young lady on-Site, and she confirmed they are Open, in fact she said they did open yesterday. She also let me know that the Pool would not be Open, but gave no indication that other Services were limited.

  4. I really wonder about the reliability of information that is provided. I called Hyatt Place this morning, however, they do "switch" you to another Number that I assume are fielding calls for them. I was told they would be Open today (I have a reservation for Friday night), however, if you go on their site, and try to Book a Room it's unavailable. It's possible I suppose that they are not taking New reservations, but I do question whether they are Open, will be Open and if not - when?

I just called through and got someone from a call center and they said they "should" be open on the 14th.

  5. Hello everyone,

My wife and I are going to have our honeymoon cruise on Harmony 9/23-9/30. We are flying in from Los Angeles, my wife as growing concern seeing how much damage Irma is putting on the virgin islands..... What are the chances of us catching another hurricane around 9/23? Is there going to be an aftermath of Irma so the islands don't look as beautiful as they normally are?

Any input will be greatly appreciated!

    Derek

Derek, I'm no Meteorologist so I can't predict a Hurricane, but what I can tell you is this is Hurricane Season. My wife and I sailed last year when Hurricane Mathew was wreaking havoc in the Caribbean; we were fortunate in that it had NO impact on our Cruise. And we are scheduled to sail on the 16th on Harmony. The Ships will be full, so obviously people do take the risk of sailing during this time. The good news is in the fact that the ship is mobile, and in most cases should be able to stay out of harms way. The impact to Sailing is on the ability of the ship getting in and out of Ports, primarily, in the case of Harmony - Port Everglades.

As far as the Aftermath, who knows what damage will be done to the Islands and how quickly they get back to "normal". I would say this, having sailed on both Oasis and Allure, while the Islands are very nice, in the worst case scenario you don't stop at certain Ports, I can tell you the Ships are wonderful in and of themselves. And who knows, you may have an Itinerary change due to the "aftermath" and still make port stops. It's impossible to predict.

What you may wish to do, if you don't have Travel Insurance, is investigate whether you can Purchase it (typically they will cover some Loss incurred as the Result of cancellation due to impending storm - not sure about after the FACT).

  6. I went to Labadee, Falmouth Jamaica and Cozumel Mexico. In Labadee my husband did the Dragons Breath flight line - zip line which he said was great (he never had zip lined before) and I did the Dragons Coaster which was fun!

Formal nights were night 2 which was at sea day and night 5 which was also at sea day.

Quest was on night 6 which was Cozumel night and took place at 11:30 pm. Love and Marriage game show was on night 7 at sea at 5:00 pm.

We will be Sailing that Itinerary Sept 16th. Did you venture out in Falmouth, i.e. an excursion, if so which, and how was it? How is the Shopping area at the Pier in Falmouth? We have no Plans yet for Jamaica, a tad "nervous", so we may just stay at the Pier. Did you eat any Local Fare in Cozumel, any recommendations? And did you do any excursions in Cozumel, same question, which and how was it (if applicable)?

While at Labadee, which Beach were you on? How was it? We've been to Nellie's, but not at Columbus Cove which many on CC recommend. Did you do a Single Ride of Dragon Coaster? Was the walk to the Coaster Strenuous?

    Thanks

  7. Yes, per my signature the only RCI cruise I have taken was in July of 2017.

Hey Tina, thanks for that information; I'm encouraged to know that was during your July Cruise. I don't know the specifics, but I thought I've read on these Boards, that RCI implemented some changes effective Aug. 1, whether those changes affect Dining, I don't recall.

I'd like to hear from those who may have cruised this month.

In the end, it doesn't really matter if I know now or when I'm on the Ship; if something changed in their Policy, I'll have to decide if I want to incur any additional expense when I'm on Board in a few weeks.

    Thanks!

  8. I used the BOGO at 150 Central Park and Wonderland. Both of those were changed from the original assignment. There was no additional charge.

Was that on a Recent Cruise; I ask because it seems from other Posts, RCL may have changed their policy. If this was a recent cruise, that would be outstanding news.

    Thanks

  9. I know this has been discussed at great length, so I apologize in advance.

We are Sailing Harmony, Sept. 16th, and have purchased the "BOGO 2 Night Dining Pkg" ($30/pp). My question is directed to those who recently Used the Package on their Sailing (Harmony or otherwise). I know the First Night will be Pre-selected, I assume you can Change the assignment, but is there an Additional Charge to Dine at specific Restaurants above what you had already Paid with the Package?

I ask because I read recently on a Post that someone did get 50% off at Chops ($49), meaning about $25, but if you already Paid $30 pp (Or $15/pp for each Night), was the Out of Pocket then $25 (50% off Chops) - $15 (BOGO) = $10. Sorry for such Detail and confusion.

    Thanks

  10. Really enjoying your review. Lots of useful information and entertaining! I have a loooong wait before my family is on Harmony in December 2018. There will be 9 of us, me, my four kids and their spouses.

You mentioned that Adrenaline Beach is rocky. What about Columbus Cove? Did you go in the water and was it also rocky? Would you recommend water shoes if we spend a lot of time in the water?

Thanks for taking the time to do a review; can't wait for more.

    Gail

The Cove Side is not really Rocky at all; what I noticed during our June visit on Allure, at Barefoot Beach is the Grass/Sea Weed that is growing in the water, the Sand is very nice, (not St Marten nice, but nice enough). The Grass doesn't consume the entire area, but you'll likely notice and run into some. I don't know if it's as prevalent at Columbus Cove.

As far as Water Shoes, you don't really need them on the Cove Side (at least not in the Water or trekking from the Beach to the Water).

  11. We will be cruising on the Allure on Feb 25th, 2018. Our return flight time options aren't great... either 9:20a or 3:20p. We'll be a party of 6, with 3 young children; I'd rather not have to find things to do to fill our day until our 3:20p flight. The ship 'arrives' at 6:15. I wouldn't normally even ask about a flight only 3 hours later, but the port is so close to the airport (FLL)... do you think we can make it? Is there someone at RCCL I could try asking that would know the details about our options for getting off the ship as quickly as possible on the last day?

Everything does need to go "perfect", ship has to arrive on time, clear customs, and then all that needs to happen for you as well, and only you can answer the question, How much stress in dealing with 3 young children to ensure all this goes smoothly will be needed.

Now, having said all that, we (58, 55, 25, 24) returned from Allure on June 25th, and had a Flight from FLL, departing at 9:30 a.m. We were in the Self Debarkation Line by 6:15, moving towards Customs by 6:30 and I'm guessing we were at the Airport by 7:15 - 7:30. Certainly no later.

I think it's very doable, you do need everything to go off on time, it's just a matter of how well can you handle the Stress, and if things don't go well, can you deal with that?

  12. If you have done it, did you wonder "why did I think this is a good idea" while you were up there? It is an RCL excursion in CocoCay. I have no problem zip lining but for some reason am a little nervous about this.

Do they take a whole boatload of people at one time and you take turns or is it one boat to a parasail experience?

Not adding much more, other than what's been said previously.

We were in Labadee (Allure - June '17), and having done Zip Line on a previous RCL Cruise, we decided to do this. We are 58 & 55. We hopped in a speed boat with about 10 others, were given a brief but thorough overview of what to do. We were the last couple to go up, so we had the opportunity to watch all the others go up Safely, and "land" on the back of the Boat safely. All, including us, were quite surprised how Calm and suspended in mid air you felt.

I wouldn't say either of us are keen on heights, like most people, I can get a bit nervous standing on a Tall Ladder (16 + Feet), but I had no qualms once we were up and "floating" in the air.

The Boat Ride itself was more "bumpy" than the parasailing.

You'll Enjoy It. If you can, use a GoPro to capture the moment.

  13. I do have a couple of questions. Who was your headliner and what night and times were those shows? What night was the second formal night?

Did you happen to see or hear anything about the drink cards where you get 10 drinks for I think around $70.00. And if u did when did they offer it? Thank you!

Nights 2 & 5 are the Formal nights, with the 2nd being "Lobster" night.

You can e-mail them at: web_reservations@rccl.com and inquire about the Headliner, and other entertainers, including Comedian(s), Schooner Bar, and Pub. Likely they won't have info until about 30 days out.

  14. For those who get the package strictly for the "no bill at the end", couldn't you take the money you'd spend on the drink package and deposit it (either via OBC or somehow) and then let that "pay" for your drinks through the week? I get that there's some value to not having to pay individually, but if you only drink 1-2 drinks a day...

I'm not aware of a method to "deposit" Money to OBC or "pre-purchase" OBC, short of TA Perks, or RCI Credit Card "perks".

And, if you're only consuming 1 - 2 Drinks per day, I see no Reason whatsoever to lay out $50 - $60 per Day to "avoid" a Bill at the End.

But you're correct, if I had enough OBC, I'd certainly consider using it for Drink Pkgs, especially now, since I could apply any OBC prior to the Cruise via "Planner".

  15. Sailed Allure in June, arrived on a Sunday, only Ship in Port I believe.

Our Flight was at 9:30 from FLL. Self Assist Line was moving by 6:35, we were thru Customs before 7:00 and at Airport Gate by 7:45.

Everything worked for us. We are doing the same for our HOTS Sailing (10:00 am Flight) in September and have Fingers Crossed.

It appears that one other Ship will be in Port Everglades when Harmony is in Port.

  16. Don't know where you will be flying in from, but I hope you don't have a delay. Seems like all the airlines have delays or cancellations nowadays no matter what the weather is doing.

Yeah, I agree, I'd much rather pay even a bit more, and have a Hotel the night before for the piece of mind.

Granted, the ship doesn't depart till later in the afternoon (And I don't know what is the latest you can Board), but I'd rather not deal with that potential stress after all the planning (and $$) only to miss Boarding.

I'm sure lots of passengers fly in the day of, I stress all day until we are on the ship anyway and Bags are in the Room, I don't need "Flight Delay" stress too.

  17. In true economic terms the drink package is never worth it. I can buy almost 2 cases of whiskey for the price of the drink package and have a hell of a party at home. Since, I won't be home and entrusting my time to RCCL, the drink package becomes worth it from a ease of pricing for my cruise. I hate having a bill for anything at the end of a vacation because I want it all done ahead of time. I do drink but probably won't break even or get ahead on the cost but the piece of mind that I don't have to question myself if I want that drink or not during vacation is worth the package for me.

The question whether it's worth it or not is like asking CC Members whether the Food in the MDR is "good" or how's "this" entree at Chops, etc. That being said, I ask the same thing all the time, or read Reviews of Hotels, etc. to validate a decision I may already be predisposed making.

However, I like not seeing that Bill at the end of the Cruise as well; it's a psychological thing. We are hardly Drinkers, a Glass of wine, 2 - 3 times a week with dinner, and maybe something on the Weekend, lounging outdoor during the summer, but we've bought it the last 2 Cruises and again for the Upcoming cruise. Had I been smart, I would have kept a Log of what we actually consumed in June to make a more informed decision for our Sept Cruise. But, alas, I'm not that Smart, and honestly, I just don't care that much whether I "came ahead" or not. Seriously, I know I'm going to Drink when I'm cruising, I'm on vacation, so I really couldn't care less if I need to consume (on Avg) 5 - 6 Drinks per day ($10-$13) to stick it to the "Man".

So for our Sept Cruise, with 18%, our Per Day Cost is $54.28. If you do the Math it's pretty simple to figure out how much needs to be consumed. Obviously, the less time you're on the Ship will play a factor in consumption.

  18. Hello I was wondering what are the other headliner shows besides Cat's ~ Oasis and Mama Mia Allure?

Is Cats really as bad as the reviews are? Many just leave during intermission? We can select either ship price / int the same.. Please share your thoughts???

    Thank you very much ~

Sailed Oasis in Oct '16 and Allure Last Month. As Bob mentioned very very similar with no real significant differences.

As far as CATS, and you've probably read it before, it's a Personal taste issue. I saw both, Mama Mia's story is much easier to follow (I'm still not sure what Cats was about - half kidding). That said, we stayed for both, don't expect these shows to be over in 60 Mins, plan on 2.5 hrs. But the Talent, Singing, and pure entertainment was outstanding. I'm not sorry I saw either. I enjoy the opportunity to experience the Shows Royal puts on, I may not like/love them all, but seldom am I sorry I went and at least exposed myself to the experience.

  19. The following has probably been answered in previous posts, but I want to hear responses from the most seasoned and current cruisers as I will be boarding Allure on 8/13. I am considering the purchase of the Voom and Drink package, currently available at $56, per my latest emails.

The most recent max price I have seen in the drink package is up to $12, (Allure, 8/13 sailing).

Does the $12 cover all of the frozen cocktails, beers and a few wines by the glass?

How much is a premium mixed drink, ie...Kettle One, tonic?

If there is a current thread more appropriate to this topic, feel free to direct me there.

Thank you in advance to all those who will take the time to answer my questions.

    David

Just returned from June 18th Allure sailing, and all $13 drinks were included, covered most if not all frozen drinks, easily found a glass of wine for dinners. Honestly I don't know if Premium Brands were or would have been covered.
