  1. Geez Louise, I really must be having a Bad Day; I don't generally Post Rants, but here goes.

I really Tire of people who constantly complain about the lack of this and that, they charge for this and that, etc etc.

Every purchase and for that matter, decision, one makes comes with a perceived Value . If paying $100 for a concert is too much, I don't pay it. If I get "crap" for service I don't go back. My Bar may be higher or lower than yours, I get that.

Geez, RCCL is not lining us all up and demanding we board their ships. We have Choices. Have I perceived a decline in the MDR over the years, no question, IMO. So is it enough for me not to sail RCCL, apparently not yet, given my Cruise History.

So either quit complaining, get off the Pot, and go Sail elsewhere. If not, it clearly hasn't persuaded you enough to make a change.

    I feel Better now.

  2. Hi All,

We just booked Oasis for Sept 10th for our 25th Anniversary. This is my favorite class of ship and needless to say I'm extremely excited. I'm sure someone knows - probably Bob or MerionMom ;) - when I'll be able to access the entertainment reservations.

    Thanks,

    Maria

We are cruising in June (On Allure) and the Entertainment is now available to Book Reservations.

I believe I've read 120 days, 90 days out, but I think it varies with the Ship too.

If you send RCCL an e-mail at some point they'll let you know who is scheduled too; I found out who is scheduled for June 18 sailing.

  3. There must be some of us who really enjoy singing while sailing! And I've noticed that KARAOKE seems to have grown in popularity on some lines (RCI), with multiple days of availability. This make me happy!;)

But there are some questions that I've not seen answered on these boards, and I'm hoping someone has the info:

    (1) can the KJ adjust the key of the song selected? (2) can they play personally supplied CD-G's, mp3 files on disc or thumb drives, or smartphone files? Does anyone know for sure about these "innovations" being available on board?

I'm sailing the Allure of the Seas soon & would REALLY appreciate any and all info! Thanks & Happy Sailing to all!!:D

I've never sung, (haven't consumed enough alcohol), but I don't believe you can come "armed" with your own music. I'm assuming each Ship has there own inventory of songs from which you can choose. Our last sailing in October on Oasis, music ranged from Adele, Bobby Darin (Mack the Knife), Elvis, Amy Winehouse, Ed Sheeran, ... And, if you get to the Finals, you can't sing the same songs that "got you there".

  4. I know there is a Post that included the Compass for the Allure Eastern (St Maartin, San Juan, Labadee), however those Compasses were from August.

My questions are for any recent passengers, what night(s) were Formal nights (2 & 5), what Night was the Love and Marriage, and what night was The Quest? I think the posted Compass from August indicated Love and Marriage was Day 3 and The Quest was Day 6.

I'm trying to "Book" my entertainment schedule around some of those shows as well.

    Thanks for the help.

  5. Just got off Sunday. we were downstairs by 6:15 and second in line...off by 6:30 and at airport by 7

We plan on self-disembarking for our Cruise in June on the Allure (Port Everglades).

My question is, given the comment above, have recent Allure Passengers been successful disembarking an being at the FLL Airport by 8:00 a.m.

    I'm looking at a 9:30 Flight.

    Thanks

  6. I find that this practice isn't exclusive to RCCL when it comes to Surveys in general. I recently had some service work done on a Car, and the technician also asked that I rate a "10" when I receive the Follow Up Call.

What's the point of a company doing a Survey if the results are going to be skewed, or if they put so much emphasis on the results of the Survey, that their employees feel potential repercussions. Isn't the company being short sighted to having honest assessments by creating such a culture?

Sorry for the Rant - I just see this all over.

  7. Nights 2 and 6

Regardless of the different Eastern Itineraries?

The Nassau, St Thomas, St Maarten Sea/Port Days are different from the Eastern that goes to St Maarten, San Juan and Labadee.

I had that same question, in particular in regards to the St Maarten, San Juan, Labadee itinerary, which starts with 2 Sea Days, followed by 3 Port Days, and concluding with 1 Sea Day.

    Thanks

  8. I just saw an offer for $44 per person per day for a deluxe drink package.

Is this worth it? That comes out to $308 for a 7 night cruise. Worth it?

I didn't create this Spreadsheet (someone else on this Forum did the hard work), but I have "modified" it to the New Deluxe/Refreshment Pkgs.

Enter the number of Pkgs you intend on buying (and the Price of 1 Pkg), and for each Day, "Guess" what you might consume. At the end of the Spreadsheet, you will see if it makes sense to Purchase or not, based on your Best Guess.

    Drink_Package_Calculator-2017 (1).xls

  9. This is an EXCEL spreadsheet that was provided sometime ago by another CC member; I saved it and have since Modified it, i.e. Deluxe & Refreshment.

It may help when trying to decide whether the Cost of Pkgs is "worth it".

Enter the Number of Pkgs in Cell C6 and/or C8, and the Price of the Pkg in Cells D6 and/or D8.

Then make your best guess when determining the number of Drinks and Type per day. Once complete, review the results in Cell G98 (or H98) to determine savings, if any.

    Drink_Package_Calculator-2017 (1).xls

  10. I understand this package includes specialty coffees but not at Starbuck's. Where would it entitle you to get a cappuccino for example? Is there another coffee venue(s)? Would you also be entitled to get a specialty coffee in the MDR?

Non alcoholic frozen drinks are included. I searched but could not really find the average price per drink.

Am I correct that if I do purchase it in my pre-cruise planner I could easily go back in and cancel if I change my mind.

    Thanks

I think I answered some of my questions.....cafe promenade for specialty coffees ....Any good? Variety?

What about the MDR? Specialty restaurants?

About $5 for non alcoholic drinks

We were on Oasis, and found the Specialty Coffees at the Cafe Promenade to be very good, as far as $$ for Non-alcohol, I believe they were around $5.50

  11. If you miss last sale, don’t miss this one.

Cruise planner have a special weekend sale right now. All the specialty restaurants 20% off. Deluxe beverage package 25% off ($41 per day). Refreshment package 30% off ($18 per day). Massage 30% off. Voom package 50% off ($8.99 per day). Hurry, if you need any of them. :)

Is is for the entire Weekend? Or might they "pull" down before end of Day? Allure, May Sailing had been $46/$26 (Deluxe/Refreshment), now $43/$18.

    Thanks.:)

Disregard question, didn't see the "BANNER".

  12. My friends and I want to purchase the 4-night Specialty Dining Package for our upcoming Oasis cruise in February 2017. Is it better for us to purchase online via RC's website and coordinate our reservations together, or wait until we're on-board the ship?

I'm assuming by Booking now, you'll receive a Substantial discount from what may be offered (if at all) on Board. Like the other member noted, once on Board you can try to coordinate your Dining with your friends at the Kiosks or even at the Restaurants. From my understanding, one Restaurant can handle all your reservations (for each of the other venues), you don't have to physically go to each restaurant to make your reservations.

We pre-booked 2 Specialty Restaurants prior to our recent Oasis cruise, but once on Board, we made a choice to add a 3rd (with the help of a Kiosk Rep), and had no problem getting times, all done via the Rep, we didn't have to go to each or any Restaurant, he did it right at the Kiosk. We were generally eating around 6:30/7:00.

  13. My Planner for a May Sailing on Allure indicates the 4 Nt Dinner Package is $100 pp. Can someone tell me if that 4 Nt Price is the same Price as that which would be offered while we are on the Cruise, or is that $100 a Discount from the On Board Price?

I ask because I see the Deluxe Drink Packing clearly indicates 20% Off and I have about $500 in OBC that I'd use for the Dining Pkg if there's no Advantage to Pre-Buying it.

    Thanks

  14. We returned a couple of weeks ago on Oasis (Saturday), had a 10:10 am Flight; we were in the Line for Self Debarkation by 7:00. By the time we went through Customs, it was probably 8:00 and at FLL before 8:30. Cab Ride is no more than 15 mins (at the Most).

I don't know how many Ships are in Port on Sunday's, that may have an impact, but I wouldn't hesitate about having an 11:00 Flight.

  15. You just need to make a single purchase. It could be a pack of gum for all they care.

I made about $15 in purchases the at a Fast Food restaurant for my first billing cycle. The next billing cycle is when I charged my upcoming cruise.

You get the points credited to your account on your statement closing date, which is better than Amex since they credit the membership rewards when you pay.

I used the 10,000 points, plus the additional 10,000 points to get $200 in OBC on my next cruise. Remember all purchases on RCCL (and sister lines) get double points.

    .

So your saying any Initial Transaction, regardless of amount spent will credit the account with 10,000 points? Thanks!

  16. We just came back from Oasis (Oct 1), and for the first time had the Drink Pkg. Neither of us are even "social" drinkers, if I have one drink per month at home, that's probably a lot. That said, I definitely feel we got our money's worth.

Sea Days, morning specialty Coffee or Smoothie from the Spa, lying about the pool, easily one (sometimes two - and not always alcoholic, which of course are cheaper), Dinner - always had a glass of Wine, Shows/Lounges in the Evening 2 per night. And usually a Bottle of Water from time to time with the Drink Order.

Port Days, Ok, maybe I "missed" that one I would have had at the Pool, but we were usually back on the ship by mid afternoon, and would have at minimum the Coffee (Latte) or a Smoothie.

For us, I just didn't want to have to Sign the Bill each time seeing $9, $10... (Plus 18%) and wonder if I should have another drink when we went to Trivia in the evening to the Comedy Show later (or wherever).

And I never felt a "buzz" from over consuming, just make sure you get a Bottle of Water when you order as well.

It's a personal decision, and much discussion about what's the "Break-even", for us, I felt it was well worth it, and will do it again on our next sailing - especially given the 20% Discount being offered.

  17. We were on Oasis last week and found that the menus posted in June/July are no longer valid. They have removed the local influence selections, reduced the number of choices, and lowered the quality. I was very disappointed to find that some of the items I was most looking forward to have been removed from the menus.

We were on the Oct 1st Sailing and agree that the MDR Dining experience wasn't up to the Standards we had come to expect on previous sailings. My DW was especially disappointed not having as many of the Chilled Soups from past experiences. And the days those were offered, unfortunately, we were at one of the Specialty Venues. Unfortunately only from the standpoint the days we were in the MDR, no Chilled Soups, not because we were disappointed in the Specialty restaurants. On the contrary, those we thoroughly enjoyed.

  18. Having never stayed in a JS, I can't help you with that; however, on our Oasis Cruise just completed, we were offered a JS for an add'l $600, chose not to "upgrade" for that cost. I can find a lot more "fun" for my $600, but this is a matter of personal opinion.

The JS, as I understand it, offers a Larger Closet, and a Bathtub, but none of the add'l Perks of other suites, i.e. Grand Suite.

As to the Drink Pkgs, the May '17 Allure Sailing is currently offering Deluxe at $46 + 18% and Refreshment at $26 + 18%. You'll find there likely is no Set Price, it depends on Sailing/Ship.

I'm sure you'll get some add'l feedback to your ???s
