Not at all! We stayed in 4018 on the Onward, then the Pacific Princess, directly across from the Medical Offices. The ship is small enough so that you never feel too far from anywhere. It was our first small ship cruise and as ships keep getting bigger, this is cruising to us! Mega-ships are floating resorts.

Next door was a woman solo traveler, so no noise from her. Being forward on the ship, I was suprised at no hull noise. We hit the edge of a storm on our TA and being a smaller ship, the sea tossed us about some. Glad I brought diphenhydramine for that.

The best thing about the ship, to us, was the library, but I do not know what AZ did with the space.

On Onward, the library is now the Atlas Bar. Books have been moved to a side of the Living Room.

I am not sure where your question is leading to, but to answer it directly, I have seen one or two groups of maybe 75?  more folks?   The one that comes to mind was a dental surgery convention group.   I had so much fun those folks.

Now that you mention that, there was a physicians conference on one of our cruises in 2022.

Chihuly Glass Museum and Gardens in Seattle! They rented the place and it was a gorgeous evening, with a violinist playing and waiters circulating with  nibbles and drinks. Fabulous artwork, right next to the Space Needle

That does sound fabulous! Ours was a lumberjack show-I’ll have to go back and check where it was held.

We have a B2B Scotland Intensive, follwed by and Ireland Intensive next year.

For the Scotland intensive, we have an onshore "Evening With the Red Hot Chilli Pipers."

There is still nothing listed for the Ireland Intensive. However, until last week, it was listed as a Norway Intensive when logged in, despite it going nowhere near Norway.

Perhaps nothing is listed because the Azamara team has been looking for a Hallingdansen show, and failing to find one... in, well, Ireland?

Red Hot Chilli Pipers are great! We saw them onboard in 2022. When we did a private tour a few days later, the tour guide was very impressed that Azamara had them on board. They played at an outdoor venue near us last year, and we went to see them again!

I was on the Onward for the July Norway Intensive Cruise. We had Capt. G and the few times he spoke he said he was not good with speaking and intermingling with the passengers. But the cruise was fabulous.

Probably the same cruise we were on -missed having a Captain’s Q and A session, but figured it was because he was not comfortable speaking.

Obviously it makes sense to book an excursion well in advance if you really want to take that tour, but I was wondering if there is any difference in price. Is advance booking cheaper than waiting and booking once on board?  If I book in advance and use my OBC can I then cancel once on board (within the cancellation period) and have a full refund if I change my mind?

It’s normally less expensive to book in advance. Prices are usually about $10 higher on board. Most excursions can be cancelled with a full refund 1-3 days prior.

Think we’ve decided on the Spain Intensive itinerary on Journey for our first Azamara experience. Has anyone been on this itinerary in November and, if so, what were the weather/sea conditions like? Should we expect much movement? Additionally, we were thinking of a V2 cabin on deck 7, around 7091 or 7088 (first few cabins of the aft section). Is this a good area i.e. quiet and not any window-washing equipment outside the balconies etc? Any advice would be greatly received.

We did this in November 2019. AzaMazing Evening was in Valencia.

What are we talking about - my answer was about the VIP event which I highlighted also has the potential to clash with cruise critic in terms of timing and to an extent venue.
I think for the majority of cruises now the cruise critic event is in a section of the living room with few if any senior officers attending.  The timing is not ideal for most guests but on port intensive cruises that’s something that’s hard to work around. There will always be exceptions!

If meeting  up with others to finalise private tour arrangements are important then I would suggest it’s no longer sensible to rely on a Cruise Critic social but to set up on the rollcall an alternative place and time/method to communicate.

Its not like the ships are large and to be honest we have met more Cruise Critic posters in casual conversation in the bars and dining room than we have at the socials which now frankly are hardly well attended at all on many cruises - yes there will be exceptions. It’s not about how active roll calls are but a large number of other reasons not least nowadays people are interacting by name not handles in other places and forming connections that way.

Sorry Ann-I was talking about the Cruise Critic event.  I have set up private events for people doing tours with us in the past.

Usually the Library except on Onward where it was in Atlas

We were on Onward for 2 cruises this summer. It was in the Living Room both times with very unclear details as to exactly where. People were walking around asking where it was.

We have a day in Cape town and would like to do a private tour including Chapmans Peak and Cape Point.

Would like to have some recommendations for tour guides

    Thank you

Someone had recommended Godfrey with Cape Express Tours. I’m in the process of composing an email to him. Are you looking at both 12/19 and 12/20?

The essentials package includes the normal WiFi not high speed. We are currently on this.

We had the high speed with the essentials package on Onward in July.
