  1. Oh yes. Fixed, main seating. Time to come in from the day, relax and unwind, clean up, and have a proper cocktail time before dinner.

Hate that rushing around an early dinner would entail!

RuthC, I enjoy your posts! You seem to have an understanding of the dinner reservation process so, I am on my first HAL cruise on the A'dam Asia cruise 1 Oct. I know you like bigger tables but being an introvert, I like a table for two. I have fixed dining, early, but can't seem to get a table for two lined up. Do you have suggestions for making this happen? Thanks in advance. Rick

  2. I use ""The ship left port" to remind me that port is left. And port wine is red, so the red running lights are on the port side. And also the accent on the rugs in the hallways are red on the port side.

One last one is red, right, returning. The channel leading to the docks are marked by red and green buoys. When the ship is heading to the docks, the pilot keeps the red buoys on the right side of the ship.

Unless you are in an area that is "Port to Port to Port"!

  3. In cabin 7516 on BotS? I looked around and didn't see an outlet to plug in the hair dryer, but perhaps I didn't look in the correct place. I'll be sure to look at the top right next time ...

I've been on 4 different ships with three different lines (not a big cruiser but a "want to be") and in everyone of them , there was an outlet in the bathroom--it was for electric razors, low power, and would not run any other electric device or charge anything. So even if you found it, it would not have helped!:D

  4. Advertised rates are posted as "from" xxx.xx. That is for the bottom of the line cabin. When you go onto the site and select anything other than the lowest class and category of cabin, it increases the fare. It is also possible that they are sold out of the lowest price cabins, which would require you to select a higher priced cabin.

Cabins are in categories (inside, oceanview, balcony, etc) and sub-categories (sub-sections within the category). Upgrades are provided, but are usually within the same category of cabin. for example, a cabin on deck 7 could cost more than the equivalent cabin on deck 3.

And to add to the confusion, cabins are priced by where they are located on the deck you are looking at. A balcony on deck six cost different depending on if it is forward, midships, or aft. And a balcony cabin on one deck might be more if it is on a higher deck. I see a correlation: middle of the ship + higher deck equals higher price.
