Really- you are comparing the flu to this virus? Please!  You are correct there is no vaccine for the flu but there are a “just a few “ more issues with this virus.  In case you have not noticed, the world has shutdown because of this virus and you actually think you will be on a cruise ship in August or December.

Yes, I am comparing it.  It's amazing how this virus has "'cured" much of the other deaths.  Cancer death numbers are wayyyy down as well as the flu.  I'm sure the empty hospitals are being totally honest with the numbers they are reporting.

There are a whole ton or threads with information on the viruses and when people think it will be safe to cruise.  Combine them with current news events on C-19 and you should be able to make an educated decision.

Personally, at the risk of being called a "doom and gloomer" I would wait at least until next spring and let others be the guinea pigs.

Sign me up for a guinea pig!

10 days is laughable. Its more than 90 days or never. Start thinking about disputing your credit card charges.

Not a chance in hell I would follow advice like this from someone on a message board.  Way too much money at risk.  Do your research and find the best course of action for you.  Way too many "professionals" these days.

FYI, I called today to ask NCL why they haven’t updated their policies, given the president’s recent 30 day extension.  The rep I spoke with said they are working on this and that they would be likely making an announcement in the next 48 hours.

So you called a phone operator to ask them why their parent company hasn't adjusted their policy to what the President stated?  You realize those people have no say and just follow what is given to them right?  Wish I had this kind of time.

Curious how you have any idea to what degree I am or am not "helping?"

Someone asked about the situation in Florida, I pointed out the plain fact that horribly irresponsible and non-factual information from the very top that was contradictory to advice from public health officials contributed to many members of the public acting very foolishly.

If accepting facts makes me miserable, then that's a label I'm proud to wear.

That said, thank you for your post in a discussion you said you will not get into. Please have a blessed day.

Thank god this board has the "ignore user" feature.

Politics and the cruise industry we're all here because of our interest in are indelibly linked, my friend. It's nearly impossible to separate them when discussing this ongoing national crisis.

I'd be critical of any president that ignored scientists and other public health professionals, regardless of party affiliation. So should any other American that cares about the safety and well being of our fellow citizens, and getting back to cruising as soon as is safely possible.

You sound like an absolutely miserable person.  Someone who will look to blame rather than help.  I will not get into a political discussion on a cruise board whether you think they are linked or not.

I thought it was appalling. Those beaches should have been shut down 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately the public got a lot of misinformation from the very top levels of our government about how COVID19 is just a "hoax" and how it's really no worse than the flu.

Leave politics off this board.  We get the fact you hate Trump.

Seems like everyone wants everything right now like there isn't another million people with cruises booked who are trying to get their issue resolved.

I'm waiting to get a refund from an online TA/American Airlines and was told to wait at least thirty days (if I'm lucky).   Do people not realize the enormity of what is going on right now?

    SMH.

They may but I don't think they care.

We recently sailed on the Breakaway and stayed in an inside cabin.  DH and I had been worried by how small the room was going to be because we are long time Disney cruisers and their inside rooms are pretty large (185 SF).  We watched videos and looked at pictures on the internet so we were prepared for minimal storage and I packed accordingly (packing cubes, extra bags to hold things since there were no drawers).  When we got to the room, yes it was small but were pleasantly surprised how there was plenty of storage and we found we spent much less time in our room than we did on our Disney cruises because there was so much to do.

Our next cruise will be on the Sun (God willing) and this time we chose an ocean view.  We are trying to convince friends to come with us (also long time Disney cruisers), but money is tight for them and an ocean view is outside of their comfort zone.  I am trying to convince them to try an inside room, but they saw how small our room was on the Breakaway when we showed them our pictures.  By the pictures I have seen the inside rooms on the Sun, her rooms appear to be larger with better storage.  While my GF is convinced, her DH is not and keeps saying they are too small, there is no room and he doesn't want to go because of it.

Has anyone stayed in an inside on both the Breakaway and the Sun (or their sister ships)?  Can you help me with your opinions on how they compare?  Any pictures of the rooms on the Sun would be helpful.  The ones here on CC ship information show a family or accessible - not a standard inside.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I have no comparison to the Breakaway but my wife and I cruised on the Sun with an inside cabin.  We had no issue with the space of the cabin and we had plenty of storage.  We did not spend a lot of time there so it was perfect for us.  Even right now, she is constantly checking dates on the Sun to see when she can book it again.

I have a friend currently onboard who posted on FB they are getting 100% refunds or 150% FCC.

Wait, I thought NCL was heartless and unethical for trapping people on board and not giving them a refund?

A bailout of the cruise lines is not an indicator of the Executive Branch's competence. Things like availability of tests and critically needed medical supplies are - and this administration is failing miserably for that.

The president says lots of things WILL happen that of course never do, like how the US only had 15 cases of COVID19 that would "soon be down to zero" and how this would just "disappear like a miracle" and how anyone who needs a test can get a test, and they're beautiful and perfect just like the transcript (yes he actually said that).

And of all sudden this turned into a political thread.  Sad.  I'm sure you are a big CNN watcher.

    Are you serious?

Only an absolute fool would book a cruise right now. This crisis is going to worsen for months, and NCL is likely going bankrupt without a federal bailout. Your cruise is in September? A world where that cruise happens means the absolute best case scenarios for how this pandemic will unfold play out, or maybe things go better than best case scenarios. Given the Executive Branch's mind bogglingly incompetent, bungled, ego and politics focused response, I'd not bank on best case anything.

Do not book a cruise right now, under any circumstances.

Wow.  You sound like a joy to be around.

Then it isn't too late to be responsible and listen to what the government as well as health professionals from the CDC and WHO are telling everyone. But hey, you do what you have to do. Safe travels wherever you try to go.

I did not say I was traveling.  Everything is closed and my work has us grounded.  I said I would book a cruise if it fit my families schedule.   I have been following exactly what the US government says about everything.

I'll listen to the CDC but the WHO is corrupt beyond belief.

I respectfully disagree.  First, I've learned that the prices you see online may not be the price you pay when you book.  Working with my TA, I made a new booking this week at a price ~20% below the website pricing - same cabin and all perks.  And from my historical pricing model, the cruise was not a "steal" but nonetheless, still a good value.  With cabin and cruise locked-in, I still have the flexibility to re-fare the cruise anytime up to the final payment date as I have done multiple times before when better offers became available.  Do your homework, be informed and decide for yourself if it is time to book a new cruise.

This is no time for common sense Huli.  This is the time for mass hysteria and to throw around accusations.

If I find a cruise that fits my families schedule and the price is good, I will book it.

  15. We have one planned in December and hope to go.  I travel for a living and have status with American, Marriott and National Car.  Yes, I get perks from them but I am just a number and if I decided to leave them, someone else unhappy with their competitors would just fill my space.

I get the frustration but in the end, you have to do what is right for you.  NCL and other major companies really don't care.  There will be someone mad at RCCL and MSC that will fill your cabin.

  16. We were looking for a cruise over Easter.  That isn't going to happen.  Right now, we are staying close but have a week booked in Orlando (we live in Tampa) in June at a resort for the kids.  Just going to hang out by the pool and relax.  We are letting our kids bring someone so they can go off and have fun since, god forbid, they hang out with each other.
