  1. No Voyager repositioning to Singapore.

    There won't be.

The last repositioning to Singapore on Voyager is April 2018 (been available for a while).

Voyager won't be back in Australia after that so no more repositions.

The only option of repositioning from Australia to Singapore or reverse is on ovation.

  2. I feel like RCCI is doing a dodgy on the pricing.

This morning an ocean view was $2,100 AUD, and a Balcony was $2,600.

Then I get an email with the deal "buy one get 50% off second person plus free balcony upgrade"

And now the prices are $2,700 for ocean view and $2,700 for balcony.

    This is on Explorer Transpacific.

Looked at Radiance, and I did it last year and balcony only cost 3k for the cabin (1,500 each) so no way I'm paying the near 5k they want now.

  3. With Australia/NZ opening for sale on 30th May (well here's hoping it actually happens this time), does RCCI normally open the bookings from Midnight Sydney time or is it dependent on a specific time in Miami?

With all the interest on CC, I'm expecting to spend a long time on hold :')

They've just announced it's delayed again until August :-/

    ....just kidding!

When I asked last time RCCI just told me sometime on the day and keep checking the site. All the dates provided so far are for Australia, so I'd assume Tuesday Australia time, but who knows?

  4. I appreciate your concerns but there are a lot of factors that contribute to our wanting to visit these destinations by cruise and why we're quite happy with the (potential) itinerary. We absolutely loved our TP. We wanted to go on another one. We've always wanted to visit New Zealand as well as the French Polynesian areas, plus after our TP I really wanted to spend at least a week in Hawaii. This combines all of these things in one trip.

If we absolutely love Tahiti or Bora Bora etc then perhaps we will make another trip out there (similar to what we're doing with Hawaii). We are young (32) so we (hope to) have plenty of time to continue to explore the world. We love cruises because we get a taste of many places and cultures in a convenient way. We also have other factors at stake -- while I absolutely love my DH, he is not a beach boy. There are only so many hours in a day he will spend at / near a beach. Locations like Bora Bora are really 'beach' destinations. By combining these destinations with a cruise which has all the creature comforts and tons of activities that change every day, I get to see my beaches for a few hours and he gets to enjoy all the amenities on the ship as well as the varying destinations we'll have. Some of our favourite time on our TP last year was our lovely long sea days -- he is on call and therefore 'works' 24/7 -- the stress factor shows and these lovely long cruises are an opportunity for him to decompress and be completely disconnected from work (one of the benefits of only being contactable via a ship phone which costs $8/minute or something).

I totally get what you're saying but we both love cruising, we loved our previous TP and when I mentioned maybe doing one again my husband was right on board. And he was more thrilled with the different destinations we'll be visiting. No need for a mirror -- both my DH and I are excited about the possibilities presented with this trip. (For one thing -- a massive 'do-over' with Sydney would be nice as we flew standby over to Sydney and it was a bit of a disaster, we gave ourselves 5 days to get there, it took us 3 of the 5 days to get there and we ended up with 2 days in Sydney, terribly terribly jet-lagged, we spent less than 1 day in Sydney exploring as we were just so tired we ended up sleeping much of the rest of the time! But we did see Taronga Zoo, easily one of the best days of my life!)

I completely agree with you. I've done the route three times, twice on Rhapsody and once on Radiance and loved it every time. Planning to try do it again in 2019 (that's why I was hoping for a new ship).

Doing it on the cruise is fantastic, and having looked to go independently on a normal holiday, it's just too expensive. The cruise for me anyway has been the most cost effective way. I've got to see Bora Bora every time, Tahiti, Moorea and Riaiatea. Gotten to do everything I've wanted in the short time the cruises have given me on the islands.

To top it off you get Hawaii at the end. I wouldn't be able to afford a normal holiday to Bora Bora but have now been 3 times and going a 4th.

It's also not "20 days at sea to go to bora bora". It's an 18 day trip with stops in New Zealand, French Polynesia and Hawaii, all amazing places... and who doesn't love sea days?

    You will absolutely love it.

  5. I just wanted to say how extraordinarily grateful I am to all of you who have contributed your knowledge (whether from press releases, digging on various cruise websites, or from insider TA info) to this thread. We sailed on Explorer in April 2016 on her 24 night Transpacific and it was just amazing -- the best experience I've ever had. I fell in love with Hawaii and I've been looking for an excuse to return ever since! And Radiance's upcoming TP release is just perfect for that. We're so looking forward to the opportunity of booking this cruise and getting the chance to plan another 'perfect' holiday :D

I did this cruise last year on Radiance, while I wasn't a fan of the ship (different reasons) it's absolutely worth it for the ports. You are going to have an amazing time.

  6. This may be a bit premature, however if 2018/19 Explorer is not returning to Australia, and Voyager is remaining in Singapore, which equates to approx 6,276 passengers, what are the chances that they are considering to send another Quantum class vessel here, and then redeploy one to China and the other to Alaska? Alternatively, maybe a Oasis class, if the OPT can handle this class of vessel.

Explorer is in Australia for the 2018/2019 season, they released the programme again (on sail on 30th May). Australia will only have Ovation, Explorer and Radiance for 2018/2019

  7. In that case why would she return to Sydney if they can send her to SJ via the Panama Canal?

No idea why, it doesn't make sense but that's what the poster said staff told them. I thought someone also mentioned earlier that the voyager class can't go via panama due to the bridge of americas?

IF it is coming back (Seattle to Sydney) in Sept 2018 and then going to San Juan, I assume it would still stay in Australia for the whole season (until April 2019) then I guess it could reposition to San Juan via Asia/Middle East/Suez/Europe/TA.

But it still doesn't make sense.

  8. It does sound strange. The 2018 Explorer TP us open for booking. I will be boarding the Explorer next Friday and will see what I can find out.

The 2018 TP on Explorer open for booking is Sydney to Seattle, which based on the info above is not changed (the poster advising the info is even booked on it). The 2018 TP in April is part of the 2017/2018 season, which are all available to book and no changes.

The poster is talking about the 2018/2019 season, in which they state Explorer won't have any more spring TP and after returning to Sydney from Seattle will go to San Juan.

We won't know until June when the 2018/2019 is released. Not too long now!

  9. I will be very disappointed if there is no Voyager Class doing the Australia runs. I really hate the bigger ships and prefer a smaller ship and better ports. A Freedom or Radiance class ship would also work for us :)

Surely they would have to leave a voyager class ship down here. They're too popular. That's why if Explorer is going I'd hope they decided to leave Voyager down here.

  10. We just got off Explorer 4 nt. Best of BC and we are on the April/18 Transpacific Sydney to Seattle. We were told by a few of the crew that ours will be the last spring Transpacific for Explorer, they will have a fall Seattle to Sydney and Explorer will be going to San Juan. We were told that another ship will be replacing Explorer.

So Explorer isn't coming back to Australia for the 2018/2019 season?

  11. It's all about business. Mariner is being sent from Asia back to Florida. She had been operating in Asia and Singapore.

To keep the market in Singapore, they need a replacement, and are replacing her with Voyager. She was always intended for Asia anyway and was introduced as an extra here to grow our market. However, with two of the same ships here now, Voyager being the oldest, and Ovation newly added being even bigger and more popular as newer, Voyager was logical to move on as the replacement in Singapore.

The Australia 2018/2019 season was due to go on sale tomorrow, and the programme was release about two weeks ago.

The programme was removed today from the site and the release date for the cruises to go on sale has now been pushed to June.

Do you think this could have anything to do with it? Could the give us Voyager back or another ship?

  12. Which state are you from. I have had my ohoto on my licence for at least the last 15 years

WA and QLD had the option for no photo (no idea why) up until a few years back. I remember a family friend who had a WA licence with no photo and is brother (who had no licence) would always drive with it. Racking up a lot of fines too. Made no sense to offer licence without a photo and don't think they do it anymore.

  13. So is it only Radiance, Explorer, Ovation and Voyager which are yet to be deployed for 2018/19?

Yes, but Royal Announced that Voyager would no longer be in Australia for the 2018/2019 season and would stay in Singapore year round.

The only ships for Australia for 2018/2019 were Ovation, Explorer and Radiance. They're also the only ones they had listed in their programme for 18/19 season.

That programme has now disappeared from the Royal website, so maybe they're going to give Voyager back to us.

There is also the new ships, Symphony of the Seas (2018) which is planned for the Caribbean and Passion of the Seas (2019) - I read an article that's going to the Asia Pacific region.

  14. A lot of the rental cars at international airports have numerous signs about keeping on the left side of the road on the dashboard, etc.

Not to mention the exit ramps on freeways have the big "WRONG WAY GO BACK" signs.

The big thing the Americans need to watch out for is roundabouts, or as they call them "traffic circles". Was hilarious watching my American mates trying to navigate them.

  15. Oh good grief!!!

I've booked the day off tomorrow so that I could stay up late and sort this out without having to stress about trying to ring an international number from work... I am still going to make good use of my day off (lots of things to catch up on) but super disappointed as this was going to be a very effective and convenient way to knock out a couple things on my 'to do' list conveniently!!

It's annoying but only a month away. I'm

Also trying to be optimistic and believe the delay is due to them keeping Voyager here or giving us another ship.

  16. Royal Oz claims!

"We realise you are eagerly awaiting the 2018/19 Royal Caribbean summer cruises to go on sale tomorrow, however maneuvering our mega-ships around the world is a mighty task at times, so we are not quite ready to go on sale just yet.

Royal Caribbean’s 2018/19 summer cruises will instead now go on sale in early June. Thanks in advance for understanding and we will provide more information on timings in the coming weeks"

Maybe there was a backlash about taking Voyager away and leaving us with only three ships.

They've also completely removed the program they emailed out and had on the site. Interesting if it will change much now or if we get Voyager back or have a new ship.

  17. I agree with the above, having flown Sydney to LAX many times I've had to wait from as little as 15 minutes to clear immigration, customs and have my bags in my hand and other times had to wait up to two hours.

Give at least 2 hours to ensure you have enough time.
