  1. The expedition cruise I am looking at is in Jan 2026. On the Seabourn website with the official pricing there is just the one price . Multiple big name US agencies have offered me better pricing, with the option of a non refundable deposit and lower overall price or refundable deposit with a higher price ( over $2000 more ) . The cruise I am about to board shortly had the same offers , but being a lot closer to the actual sailing date the non refundable deposit option and lower overall price, didn’t seem so much of a risk. From what other posters have said I think it’s best if we wait to see what Seabourn offer on board.
  2. I would love to think we could get as much as a 35% discount, but I’ll guess we’ll just have to wait and see when I enquire on board. As for a bad travel agent , multiple US agents have offered me lower pricing with the non refundable deposit or or a higher price with the refundable option, so it’s clearly not confined to one agency.
  3. I am looking at an Antarctic expedition cruise in 2026 but am a little concerned by the size of the deposit for a cruise that’s over 18 months away . $5376 for a non refundable booking or $6111 for a refundable one isn’t exactly small change. As we are sailing on Seabourn soon is there a possibility of reducing this deposit if we book on board, or any other way to reduce the initial outlay ? Many thanks for any advice.
  4. We will be boarding the Venture in Tromso at the end of June, and I think we can beat you on the ridiculous pricing of the paid for tours. There are only 3 actually offered at our first stop with the visit to a fish factory during the morning costing $375 per person ! $750 for two of us to go on a factory tour … you must be joking.
  5. Many thanks so much for the info. I’ll keep an eye out for your videos on YouTube.
  6. We are sailing on the Venture during the summer and the only penthouses left were the accessible ones on deck 8. I have searched the internet/ YouTube etc and cannot find any info on these cabins regarding layout of the cabin and bathroom. I’m aware they only have a larger shower and no bath tub. Does anyone have any photos or videos of these type cabins ? There’s plenty out there on the regular penthouses but I’ve drawn a blank on anything to do with the accessible ones. Many thanks .
  7. If anyone else is on this cruise, do they happen to know which hotel we will be staying in in Edinburgh ? I have asked my agent but so far he can’t find out. Just wondering if anyone had any ‘inside’ info. Also, do Seabourn provide a packing list of the type of warm weather clothes we need to bring as these would be easier to purchase now at the end of our European winter. Many thanks for any advice .
  8. I’ve just noticed on our Venture expedition next year, Seabourn have suddenly recategorised the Panorama suites above penthouse ones and correspondingly raised the price by €5000. Is that a case of supply and demand ?
